Why is it so common that LEATHERFACE camps?
Why do Leatherfaces typically camp?

His power.
Instadown, can hit multiple people, makes saves basically guaranteed death.

Because he is the easiest and most successful at it.

Don't get me started on how many i've seen. I've seen so many with basement camping builds.

Nothing much more to add.
Can hit & down multiple survivors.
Can eat through Borrowed Time & Sprint Burst.
Got Decisive? He can just hook the other surv he downed and wait you out.
Got Unbreakable? Unless the rest of your team is about to make a Michael Jordan play, you're just going down again.

His power encourages him to camp. Otherwise he really doesn't have much else going on.

Although I will say, I did pull one over on a camping Bubba with tenacity and unbreakable. Literally a one in a million shot, but after downing someone else and assuming I had DS, he lost track of me (thanks Tenacity) and I popped back up. He tried to chase me but shack was my friend that day and the other teammates got the other person off the hook with enough space for all of them to avoid the chainsaw of multiple doom. (Don't get greedy, Bubba.) We then played cat and mouse for a 2K (sadly, I was one of the 2K but ah well). Not the best game, but definitely had its entertaining moments.

Because content creators made it popular by uploading videos/streaming it working so it has put into their fan bases minds that they should do it too.

Same reason why every huntress is toxic. I don't know what it is, but it just attracts those kinds of people.
All huntresses tunnel and camp, and then BM on hook. Like 9/10 of them.
