Why does the dc penalty exist?
I see a lot of people who like that there is a dc penalty and I think that's fair but let me ask you when is the last time it has stopped someone from dcing? and even then they can just suicide on the hook. So my question is why does it even exist at all in it current state? They either need to make it more punishing for consistent dcers over a long period of time or just add some other feature like a surrender button.
What do you think?
Edit: I am not saying the dc penalty shouldn't be a thing at all I'm saying that it isn't good enough.

You weren't around some 3 years ago when Survivors would DC by the bucketload.
It was more common to play a game with a DC'd survivor than not.

When I started playing, it was very common to finish a match with 3 DC's.
The system discourages that and prevents people from continuously ruining games.

I was around then I started playing when it came out on console but It is still pretty common for survivors to dc and I was saying is that it doesn't really discourage them from doing so.

Honestly I think the whole punishment is stupid. I mean earlier I played a game where the survivor and killer were teaming so I reported them and did they get banned? No. There are much bigger issues than DCing in Dead By Daylight I mean if you wanna ban people for DCing why not ban people for Camping and Tunnelling because that ruins everyone's gameplay experience? This game has much bigger issues than DCing such as hacking, teaming, camping hatch, camping hooks, camping basement, tunnelling, and toxicity. These are all much bigger issues than DCing from a game and worst part is if someone is literally hacking and you DC not wanting to waste your time in a game with a hacker you still will get get banned. Pathetic.

They shouldn't ban people for camping or tunneling it is just a boring strategy used by some killers I was just focusing on dcing because it is you literary removing yourself from the game and screwing over your teammates.

Really no.
The DC's you see today are nothing like how it was back in 2018 or so. The DC penalties work because survivors that DC too much can't play.
If you were really playing back in 2018 then you must have some memory loss because the DC'ing today is nothing like how it was back then. DC penalties totally fixed the issue. Not perfectly but it reduced the DC epidemic to what it is today.

listen I'm not denying that people used to dc a lot I'm saying that it is still pretty common that someone will go down instantly or load into a map they don't like and dc. I'm not saying they should remove the dc penalty I I just think they need to improve it.

I'll chalk this up to the difference in platform. I'll just assume that DC'ing on PS4 wasn't anywhere near as bad as it was on PC. Because believe me in 2018 on PC you would only play 1 out of 5 games where someone didn't DC. If even that.
The amount of DC'ing you see today isn't even anywhere close to a shadow of what it was back then. Today I will get a survivor to DC maybe once every 10 games. If even that. Suiciding is more common but not even close to 4 games out of 5 of people suiciding over and over.
I'm thinking survivor players on PS4 aren't anywhere as salty as PC survivors.

This game needs the dc penalty. Unfortunately people will always dc but it's far less common than it was originally.
Before if a survivor got downed immediately or saw a killer/map they didn't like they'd dc. It basically happened once a match.
As killer you'd dc if you got a map you didn't like or your totem went too quickly for your liking.

First of all, yes, the DC-Penalty is better for the Killer, because they at least get their BBQ-Stack. As Survivor, it does not matter if someone suicides on first Hook or simply DCs.
However, the DC-Penalty is more intended for the players who are NOT in that specific game. If someone DCs, they would have done it anyway, regardless of the penalty. However, with the Penalty this means that this player cannot DC in a game for another few minutes.
If they DC more often, other players will have a longer time without that specific player.
When it comes to increasing the penalty, I think they get more severe quite fast. It is 5 minutes and then 15 minutes and I think the next one is already 30 minutes, followed by 1 hour and then 3 hours. This is fine IMO, starting low makes sense, but you will be away for quite a long time if you DC more often.
Maybe they can increase the time it takes for the DC-penalty to get lower again so that you dont have a "free" (in the sense of: only 5 minutes) DC per day.

Why not? DCing ruins the gameplay, so does camping and tunnelling. If you wanna ban people for making the game less fun then those should be your first priority.

Having a low DC-Penalty to start with is important. Not everytime someone DCs because they dont want to play the game, sometimes there is an emergency or simply a problem with the internet. Having a big penalty at this point would punish players too much.

The purpose of people who camp or tunnel is to win not make the other side have less fun. dcing only makes the other side have less fun and ruins the gameplay for the other players.

Yes that's what I mean by "consistent dcers over a long period of time" people who dc then a day later dc should be punished as if they dced twice they should make it last over like a week so it encourages people to stop dcing over and over again and has a light punishment for one time dcers.

Yes, this would be an option. Depends what BHVR thinks about it, they can see the Data. I would be fine with the DC-Penaltys being in the system for a longer period of time, because currently it feels like 1 DC per day is free.
