Why do survivors complain about bbq?
I've been getting so many recent complaints about me running bbq, and survivors are always telling me it's stupid how overpowered it is. I can't for the life of me understand how it's overpowered. It can literally be hard countered by just being close enough or just sitting behind a gen or jumping in a locker real quick. The aura reading barely means much because by the time you get there that person is most likely going to be gone. In my opinion bbq is literally the most fair perk in the game in terms of design. It's mediocre at tracking, but it rewards you for actually doing your objective. While a lot of survivor perks are rewarded for failure.

They gotta complain about something right?
I mean.... They can't blame themselves for losing, now can they?

Well, it's typically people who run the 4 2nd chances of hell who complain about it. I've just been hearing it way too much. Heard it literally 3 times yesterday alone.

Considering BBQ can easily be countered by hiding in a locker/getting behind a gen once you find out that the killer obviously has it, I have no idea why they think it's a good idea to butcher it.
I guess some people just want their win being handed to them on a silver-platter instead of working for it by adapting to their opponents playstyle & perks. Crazy.

From my observations after being hooked.
The other survivor, crouched behind an object, sits there oblivious to the approaching killer headed directly towards them. Takes off running after being hit.

It's literally just a primary bp perk. Sure it can be useful sometimes, but you find yourself barely even getting a ton of tracking use out of it. It's not only just that, but like I have said in prior posts of mine. People are complaining about corrupt, shadowborn, STBFL. BBQ is the main one that's getting more flack though out of the rest. Considering it's not even a strong perk, because whispers can be much better if used right.
2 -
It's complained about solely because they see it a lot. Familiarity breeds contempt.
The reality of the perk's current balance is that, BP bonuses aside, it's really not much different in power levels or fairness when compared to competitors like A Nurse's Calling or Bitter Murmur.
It's quite silly, given that BBQ is designed to disincentivise anti-fun Killer strategies like tunnelling and facecamping.

If we gotta be honest most survivors are oblivious what's going on most of the time. I play survivor quite frequently too, but I don't complain about any killer perks. Sure NOED can be the one that does reward failure, but it's still easily countered. Survivors complaining about bbq is just mindboggling, because it's one of the few perks in the game that reward you for doing the primary objective. Most survivors still don't know how to counter bbq which is sad, because it's literally one of the easiest perks to counter. So they complain about it for their own mistakes.

They don't its most likely low ranks complaining about this.

It seems like survivors want more tunneling and camping. If they want to butcher tracking perks, then they are going to pay the price for it.

Barbecue is slightly annoying at worst. Great for farming bl and encouraging moving from the hooks. Also has counterplay so any survivor saying it’s op just hasn’t played long enough
0 -
Believe or not most of the complaints I have gotten recently are from people with 3k+ hours.
0 -
Well then they’ve probably played little killer. I’m a survivor main who does complain but complaining about BBQ is ridiculous
0 -
They need something to blame because obviously its not that they played bad, it must be BBQ
2 -
I guess those people spent those 3k+ hours in the lobby then lol

Shadowborn is very overpowered. :) I've gotten a complaint about it too.
0 -
Most likely, but those kind of players love running every 2nd chance perk possible, and still complain about certain killer perks.
0 -
People complain about everything in this game.

When I started playing the game as Survivor main. I saw many fellow survivors said BBQ is OP, I believed that.
Until I become Killer main, when BBQ appeared in shrine, I was so happy getting the perk.
Totally disappointed how weak it is, I get nothing if Im not able to down survivor.

My only complaint about it is how boring it is to play against, same with Ruin or most of the other meta killer perks. Too many killers run it.

They complain cause they don’t wanna give up one of there perk slots to run Kindred. It’s literally a counter to BBQ. Or at least tells you if the killer is coming your way after they hook someone. It’s almost like a bbq for survivors. I do nothing but solo queue and I’ll tell you I starting running this perk about 2 months ago and now it’s in every single one of my builds. It’s that good to me. I know which direction the killer is coming after a hook, I know if I need to go for a save cause my other teammates are across the map doing god knows what cause it’s usually not the objective, I know when a camping ass insidious Bubba is doing what he’s doing and to stay the F away, I know when a killer is proxy camping the hook. The info it gives is so damn good. Back to the topic entitled survs are going whine cry and complain about every little thing first chance they get so take it with a grain of salt. If they think bbq is OP then they aren’t that experienced in the game. There are ways to counter bbq but they don’t wanna learn.

Survivors: "NOED is a bad perk because it rewards the killer for not doing their objective. You need to start doing your objective to get rewarded by a perk!"
Killer: **Runs Barbecue & Chili**
Survivors: "NO NOT LIKE THAT."

It used to be harder to deal with because lockers didn't block auras. Since that change to lockers, though, I've had no problem with it. It's a good perk but it's also straightforward to counter.

I mean only the bad ones complain about it.
And the reason they complain is because they're lazy/it's one more thing they have to do or worry about.
0 -
The same reason killers complain about Dead Hard, for example - because the way players use both is annoying.
But neither need to be "nerfed" as biased mains on both sides claim.
0 -
If they'll nerf bbq, they'll complain about thrilling tremors. It doesn't matter lol
2 -
B&c is the best perk in this game, including survivors perks. the killer rate would be reduced so much if you nerf it.
0 -
if anything they should be complaining about noed, devour hope, ruin....etc. not barbecue and chilli
0 -
How is bbq being used in an annoying way?
I agree the calls for DH nerf are over the top.

Ways to counter BBQ.
- Be within range.
- Hide in a locker.
- Hide behind a gen.
- Walk one way for four seconds, then turn around.
- Distortion
- Kindred
- Spine Chill
- Premonition
Anything else am I missing? Or do you just wanna keep whining? BBQ is a perk with plenty of counters- Survivor's just don't want to do it themselves. BBQ offers no more information the something like Nurse's Calling. Discordance offers better information, at least in critical moments. Only high mobility killers can utilize the perk well, and it rewards the killer for playing well and incentivizes the killer to not camp or tunnel. If they still do, that's not the perks fault.
By your logic, Spine Chill is a training wheel perk too, right? It's for Survivor's who are bad at having "gAmE sEnse". And the Survivor doesn't even have to do anything for Spine Chill to activate.
Neither of these perks are broken. Both sides just wanna ######### and moan. This game is barely about hiding anymore.

As an example, when a killer uses it to run right back to a previous unhook after hooking someone else, and everything just starts to snowball from there.
DH and BBQ are both perks that aren't overpowered, but can be annoying to deal with for both sides in certain situations.
Not saying I personally think it's worth complaining about, it's a smart strategy - just something I've observed complaints over.

Tbh, I think killers would do that regardless of bbq prompting. It's what I expect to happen when I go for saves of this nature.
0 -
Including the BP gains, I would agree that it is the best perk in the game. I don't think it's the strongest perk in-game, though. Its aura reading alone isn't nearly as useful as other perks.
0 -
I could go over every point I made, but you clearly don't know how to think critically given the way you type. I've proven my point. A perk that can be countered as much as BBQ isn't a crutch. Just because you and "good survivors" can go out of your way to adapt to the multiple counters doesn't mean it's a crutch.
So sorry, 'daddywillylong', this "alpha-keyboard warrior" isn't gonna waste his time with you anymore. Quite frankly, genius, it's not worth talking to a brick wall that can't see common sense.

Because killers aren't allowed to do or have anything.. rule #111 of the survivor handbook
1 -
Anybody who complains about BBQ can't loop, so they hate that the killer can see where they are, like it's that powerful somehow.
0 -
Since I main clown I reload after every hook, so I barely see the aura's lol.
0 -
When I use to run ruin way back. I got a lot of complaints about it. I still get complaints about several other perks which aren't run as frequently as most.
0 -
Sorry I need to go stand in a corner and count to 10 minutes after 1 hook. :)
0 -
Exactly! Don't they teach you this at killer school 😂😉
0 -
They don't want you waiting around a hook but they also don't want you chasing them. They want you to go walk around the map checking every bush for a blendette while they get free gen time.
0 -
That isn’t always the case though.
I can think I’m well positioned by a gen to block my aura, but the killer still sees me and comes for me.
Or I try to reach a locker but there are none I can reach in time.
It’s just not nice feeling like I’m being punished for somebody else losing a chase and being hooked.
I get that BBQ discouraging camping is healthy, but I wish it gave an entirely different reason to motivate killers away from the hook, like maybe Haste while more than 32m from a hooked survivor until unhooked, rather than aura reading.

The only thing that is annoying on BBQ is that it should encourage the Killer to go for someone else but they can camp and tunnel one person out of the game and STILL get their Bonus-BPs. Like a little kid which gets spoiled with sweets after it was doing something it should not do.
But there is not really a reasonable and easy way to fix that, so it is whatever.
Other than that, BBQ is fine, would be just nice if Survivors would have an actual way of getting Bonus-BPs as well instead of bad WGLF.

Imagine telling someone to "get good" while complaining about counters to BBQ.
If you're not good at the game, then say that and go.
3 -
They complain about it because auras(I have seen multiple threads complaining about this one part of the perk)
Can't have that you gotta look for that person that hides in the corners of the map without any hints and let me get a free save how dare you chase me after you hook someone
0 -
I honestly don't like bbq other than bloodpoints farm. It can be countered so easily.
0 -
BBQ is purely for farming bp. The aura reading is trash and most of the time I'm lucky to spot one survivor with it. Anyone complaining that BBQ is too good has obviously never used it.
