Why does Iron Will sometimes not work?
Self explanatory.
Or maybe it is working and its only me that can hear my grunts in pain? But I don’t think that’s the case the way the killer has been behaving.

Likely it's because the killer has Stridor which makes IW survivors have grunts of pain at 50%.

Really? I didn’t think that would be something I could hear though. Kind of ruins the point of Stridor a little if I know she can hear me, imo.

Stridor is used as a counter to Iron Will for killers that rely on sounds, mostly phasing Spirits. The only way to become completely silent against stridor is to compound its effects with either No Mither or Off the Record.

Likely Stridor 99% of the time, but I have had some buggy Iron Will occurrences, like after using DS once.
Granted, this was many months ago so it might have been a sweeping audio issue

The way the wiki describes it is as a volume bar. Iron Will reduces your volume by 100, Stridor increases it by 50. The volume bar can go above 100 as well (Stridor with no Iron Will = 150)

Why would combining it with No Mither work? That isn’t even remotely close to being a stealth perk.

Nevermind, just looked it up. Running a perk where the killer downs you with one hit defeats the purpose of using Iron Will unless you are specifically using No Mither. That’s a huge downside just to counter the possibility of Stridor being used. If you want to use No Mither then Iron Will is mandatory, but if you want to use Iron Will then equiping No Mither is really kind of stupid.

No Mither reduces the grunts of pain by 50%. Those effects seem to stack additively, so with Iron Will reducing by 100% and Stridor increasing by 50%, they all add to 100% -50% -100% + 50% = 0.
