Nonbinary Plague?
Was checking out the steam achievements and noticed something interesting. There's a format
Adept (Killer)
Achieve a merciless victory using only...
Wraith: His 3 unique perks
Twins: Their 3 unique perks
Spirit: Her 3 unique perks
Legion: Their 3 unique perks
Demogorgon: Its 3 unique perks
Plague: Their 3 unique perks
So, Demogorgon shows that they put a little thought into that, it's an alien, no gender. Legion and twins are groups of people, but Plague? Seems to be singular person, they/them pronouns. And Plague is the only one like that.

No, the lore refers to her as a she
23 -
I mean.

That must be a mistake, then. Adiris is definitely referred to as a "she" in her lore.
When she was five years old, Adiris, the youngest of a family of seven, was left on the brick-red burning steps of the Temple of Purgation at the centre of Babylon. To process her shock and sorrow, she held onto the belief that the Gods had a plan for her. Her new life was one of quiet servitude. She would tend to the gardens, prepare ceremonial meals, and polish ceremonial incense burners. At night, she would pray for a sign that would reveal her purpose.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be completely fine with a non-binary character. But Plague is 100% a she, it's just a case of inconsistency for some reason.
9 -
The achievements are just inconsistent. Myers' achievement also says "it."
11 -
Maybe Myers and Plague stopped seeing themselves as male and female after entering the fog. You don't know :p
1 -
Her power refers to her as female, too, which is about as post-fog as it gets.
I mean feel free to headcanon whatever you like, but literally every other instance refers to plague as female.
2 -
They would still be male and female, can't trick biology :)

I met him, fifteen years ago. I was told there was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I met this six-year-old child, with this blank, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes... the *devil's* eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... *evil*.

Never heard of hermaphroditism?
2 -
Looking too much into it. "Their" is a common word it doesn't imply non-binary it's a genderless term to describe somebody's possession of something not a literature major and it's late.

My 6 year old grandson asked if a boy could be a girl and a girl could be a boy, why can’t he be a dog. You know I couldn’t really answer that legitimately any more. 30 years ago I would’ve said because you can’t lick your own balls but that wouldn’t have really answered his question considering today.

Happens, but most parents usually have them adjusted by a doctor so they can live a normal life, many people born this way never find out.

My guess is that it was a copy paste of the legion and just a lazy mockup that was pushed to final but can't be changed because it can't be changed on all platforms and they are more of an all or nothing dev
1 -
Lol no.
3 -
Trans people often undergo HRT to change their biological gender. Some intersex individuals also undergo a similar form designed to balance them between male and female.
1 -
who cares.

Myers is supposed to be evil incarnate, so saying it would make sense.
@Renfear Doctor's Adept used to say her instead of him a while ago (like years ago, before his most recent rework), but it got fixed. I think it's the same situation for Plague and the devs will eventually update it.

I think a lot of people are missing the obvious explanation here that has nothing to do with being nonbinary.
"The Plague" is both Adiris, the woman, AND the infection she's carrying.
8 -
ey, we do not nsfw stuff of a horror game
3 -
That makes sense and actually sounds pretty awesome, like she is the infection personified.

While the concept of intelligent diseases is cool, AFAIK there's nothing to suggest that the plague itself is any more intelligent than any other disease on the planet.
Hell, I don't even know of any movies where the disease was particularly smart.
This.
They/their/them is constantly offered by the trans and non-binary crowd, mainly because the "did you just assume my gender?!" meme blew up so much that people actually think they're in danger of a hate crime for making an honest mistake in trying to guess someone's preferred gender.

I'm not trying to say the disease is intelligent, I'm saying that when the achievements are referring to "While playing as The Plague..." it's discussing Adiris and the infection collectively in that instance.
It is kind of flimsy apologism because I guarentee there's instances where "she" is also used as a pronoun for "The Plague", but the idea that the sickness is the Killer, and Adiris' role is to be a vessel for it, has always kinda been my headcanon.
0 -
That is a pretty cool idea, though I think Adiris does need some of the responsibility as the killer.
"I didn't throw him on the meat hook. The sickness inside me threw him on the meat hook. I'm innocent."

Plague is female, but go with any headcanon you want, i couldn't care less
