I got a DC penalty even though i got disconnected by the game. My internet is fine.

The penalty may be small but i never DC'ed before and now i suddenly get forcibly disconnected from the match and take a penalty. I don't know if the servers are bad today but if the devs read these forums please make a way so that if the person doesn't DC directly they don't get banned because if i get DC'ed again and it gives me something like an hour by something i haven't done i won't be happy man i can tell you that.

Unfortunately there is no way to tell if a dc is intentional or not thats why the first 2 are 5 min bans tthen 2 15 min bans i believe ive never even hit the 15 min stage tho

Still man, people that want to give up kill themselves on the hook and don't get a punishment. Idk if the game should have it since people that actually get disconnected get punished and the others have another way of getting out that doesn't give them a temporary ban.

How would you be at an hour if you never DC?

I meant if it kept disconnecting me. But it didn't happen again.

first of all, you may think your internet is fine, but is your computer? steam disconnects you if it disconnects, could be your computer reset your network connection, this does happen btw. You could get a disconnection some where down the line and still it would take days of forensic network techs pouring over logs from several different routers. there is no way for anyone to anticipate network outages but if you get one then another, you might want to reconsider playing a network game till your network connections settle down. ya know?

as was stated, it is possible to disconnect manually and the game and servers can not decide if that is what happened intenionally or accidentally thus applies a penalty. if you are on an unstable network connection you should not continue playing, because if this were a raid in an mmo or other game you'd be kicked from the team till you could report to them things are stable enough.

And this is why a disconnecting penalty is stupid. It's not uncommon for the game to disconnect you because its badly designed.

So you DCd once in 118 Player levels - congrats. FYI there are a plethora of reasons you may have DCd and not necessarily an issue with the game - I DCd a few days ago due to Steam while some of my other friends did not have the issue.

It isn't common for the game to disconnect if your system is up to the requirements and you have reliable internet connection. I rarely have it disconnect and the same can be said for most those I know who play who's systems and internet meet the minimum requirements.

Granted their are times things go wrong occasionally like the Steam issue the other day but overall it is not common to disconnect. If someone is getting anything over 15 minutes they either don't meet the minimum requirements for the game or they are rage quitting.

In the past week, I've been kicked out of five games with the "You need an Internet connection to access this content" despite very clearly having stable Internet.

The game has its faults and adding a ban for people who get kicked out of no fault of their own, is silly.

Your still blaming the game when not much to support that. Otherwise it would be affecting more players which does not appear to be the case.

The issue could be on your end, could be your ISP or it could be any one of the hops that it takes when sending or receiving the packets from the game. Instead of just blaming the game if you really want to resolve the issue your going to need do some troubleshooting.

Things such as doing a traceroute to see if their is some packet loss somewhere between you and the game servers. Perhaps your firmware on your router is out of date, IP address or DNS issues, blocked ports, ISP line or hardware issues somewhere between you and the game servers and so forth and none of which may be the fault of the game.

As for the penalty you have their are 4 other players in each match and you are having a disconnect issue which you know about. When you disconnect it affects their game play so yes the penalty is fair as you are playing matches knowing you might disconnect from those matches.

Okay? Theres always other matches. The DC Penalty is a ######### excuse for punishing players.

so, to recap, this is the first time you DC (/lose connection), you got a 5 minutes ban (as intended), and never got a problem afterwards.

Or, to rephrase it, in "240 hours of gameplay, you got dc'd only once, and had to wait for 5 minutes to play again".

...but you are asking to remove the DC penalty, that is objectively the best thing ever introduced to DbD, because...? Anxiety for what may come next?

    Don't worry, you'll be fine.

EDIT: I know, you ask to remove the DC penalty for "reasons not in your control", but this is not possible - either you punish all DCs, or you don't punish any. That's an official BHVR statement btw.
