When to play greedy as survivor
When you aren't against an Oni or Billy, you want to loop normally but whenever the killer starts to get close to a point where they were going to hit you in about 2 or 3 seconds, you either fake the pallet drop and run or just keep running (assuming you're healthy). However, you should only do this if you know you can waste the killer's time well or have a means of healing yourself if the killer leaves.
There are 4 main things that can let you play very greedy in a chase. Mettle of man, styptic agents, medkits, and dead hard.
MoM is pretty hard to get before 3 gens are done, but when you have it you will have it until you use it. The effect of an extra health state from MoM is incredibly powerful and will allow you to play very greedily since it gives you an extra health state.
A styptic agent on the other hand is definitely the better option to choose when wanting to have an extra health state. You want to use it when you run close to another tile and then vault a pallet or window (fast vault, any slower and you can still be grabbed) to force the killer to hit you.
Medkits can be used after the killer gives up chase on you, even a brown medkit is strong. If you are a good looper who is injured but the killer leaves you, heal up real quick and the next time a killer finds you they will have to injure you again. Medkits are just very efficient in general.
Dead hard, the famous E perk. With the press of a button, you can do a little dash that lets you be immune to damage when using it. It can be used to dodge special attacks, but its best use is using it to get a little distance on a killer in a chase. Did you greed a pallet against that Wraith but he just kept running at you? Literally, just press the button for dead hard and now you have outplayed the killer /s.
If you want to play it safe and don't want the killer to get more pressure than they already have, go ahead and drop a pallet earlier. This form of greed can help you more than you think. If a killer has two people on a hook and is chasing you, don't greed. And don't put yourself in a situation you can be mind gamed, but if you can handle chasing then go right ahead.
Playing greedy is a way to just buy your team more time in a chase. I recommend doing it when you git gud as survivor.

Playing greedy against oni is a death sentence. Play safe when he doesn’t have his power to make his life a living hell

Yeah, you don't want to ######### with Oni, or lopro chain Billy either

I can't help being greedy but there is no room for dead hard in my build unfortunately. I bring medkits tho at least and sometimes lose the killer with iron will. Or they leave me so I can heal myself.

True, you will have to adapt for certain killers

Someone called me a bot the other day for playing safe against an Oni (Pre-dropping pallets and trying to delay his first hit as much as possible)

lmao I got called trash for being slugged within a minute of the game (so pretty much the whole game) for going down to a spirit with MD ring and amulet when everyone couldn't do anything just the other week

I greed everything. Not always the best choice, I just find it more fun. If I die from 3 hooks in a match chances are I only used 1 or 2 pallets at most. I try to save everything.
Especially if it's a god pallet like shack. I'll go down before I throw that.

Sometimes, I'm just a 'tool' for the entire game.
I'll drop pallets whenever I want, stop healing people if they move part way through the heal, bring that NOED killer to you so that I can escape, take Hatch over a rescue, etc.
Other times, I'll be very stingy with pallets, chase people down to heal them super fast, take unnecessary hits for people, etc.
My friends that watch me are amused - they say it's like watching two different people play at times and keeps things fresh.
