So the base game of DBD runs at 30 fps on PS4/XBOX One, but the tutorial runs at 60 fps.
This is something I've always been very sus about, how come the tutorial of the game can run at a solid 60 fps but the base game itself can't? DBD could definitely run at 60 fps on PS4, but optimization has always been an issue for all platforms since BHVR's not known as optimizing professionals. Meanwhile I've played games such as Rocket League that runs at an incredible 60 fps, Fortnite does as well, Fall Guys does good but only ever had one time where the frames dropped massively, fighting games, and hell Kingdom Hearts for being known as a story driven RPG runs great. 60 fps was mentioned to happen back in 2019 if I recall for console players, but for some reason the devs pulled a top ten anime betrayal move on us. And when people talk about this or mention it to them, it's get ignored even though I would love to have answers as to why this never happened. But I guess I'll just keep playing on PS4 hoping the next chapter is optimized well like the mid chapter was, and I'll hopefully get a PS5 at some point.

There's no other clients when playing the tutorial and the tutorial map is tiny.
Not really an excuse for the poor performance. More of an observation.

To be fair with that, their salaries are actually incredibly high in terms of game development companies and DBD isn't the only game they work on. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 spring to mind, alongside the GOT mobile game that got released. So whilst the company might be making big bucks, not all of it is going to DBD and a lot of it going to DBD is on salaries.
I don't want to make an excuse for their poor optimisation- hell I hit sub-60 on midwich with my damn Ryzen 7 3700x that somehow ran CP2077 better- and they need to do better, but using a budget of the overall company isn't a great measurement.

At release I heard new xbox and ps5 were running great, but after couple updates I've started seeing complaints that performance issues have started to pop up. I'm currently on ps4 and stopped buying dlc/cosmetics because after all the money I spent it wasn't going towards making, my console experience better. When I finally get a ps5 I don't think I'll be installing DBD because by time I do I'm sure performance will be just as bad and will just be repeat of ps4 - begging for optimization only to get vague "it's being looked at" or "it's been passed on to the team" or my new favorite response "we do little things each update we won't tell you what, just see if you notice anything feeling better."

If you get in, can you press delete on Trickster or make something scarier 👌

Let's be real, 30 FPS is being generous.
No reason that DBD shouldn't run at a stable 45 on Console.
