I guess running away "too early" or "holding 'W'" is now bad?
So... we can't even run away anymore unless the killer is close to us? This is what killer main YouTubers/Streamers seem to be saying. And I know how much the community likes to worship these people. But come on... I'm running out of options here guys. I already finished my Killer challenges. I need to work on my survivor challenges too. I just want to make sure I do everything the right way without being toxic.
Let me see if I got this right...
- No perks, that's toxic.
- No Keys. That's toxic.
- No Toolboxes, because "genrush".
- No Medkits, because healing shouldn't be "fast".
- No Flashlights, because that's toxic.
- Do not touch totems. Those belong to the killer. But, if there's NOED, I can't complain because I didn't "do bones".
- If the killer has started chasing someone, I must stop working on generators and stand still until the chase is over to avoid "genrush".
- I am not allowed to play with friends in public lobbies. Having friends is toxic.
- No pallet looping. That's toxic. All pallets must be thrown immediately BUT not on the killer because that's toxic too.
- Windows can only be used if they don't impede the killer. Otherwise they're toxic.
- Do not attempt to rescue someone off a hook unless they've already hit stage 2. You also have to be injured while doing it so that the killer doesn't lose any pressure.
- If the killer hits me when I'm hooked, that means I've been toxic and should kill myself immediately as I have ruined the killer's match.
- In the post game chat, I must thank the killer for killing me because it's always fun for me every game no matter what.
- If I ever escape, I must send a recording of it to the devs to show them how OP survivors are and they they must be nerfed and that I must be banned for exploiting.
- ((NEW!)) If I see the killer, I can't start running away unless they are already within lunge range. Running away too early is toxic.
Did I miss anything?

Why don't you make your straw man arguments in the same thread you're replying to?
The video by True was demonstrating how effective just holding W is against a M1 killer on a large map. Not once did he say "It's not FAIR that survivors get to hold W!" or "Survivors SHOULDNT be able to do this!"
If anything, you should take it as advice, as an effective strategy to implement, until such a time that BHVR decide to address it and make some kind of change that makes it less effective.
Nearly every single one of your points is blatantly petulant and shows you never play Killer.

holding W is not toxic, it's just boring for every party involved. You'd have more fun playing a driving simulator instead π₯
13 -
Because holding W is the newest in the list of things I'm told I'm toxic for doing wrong. It was 1/15th of the whole list.
7 -
I'm just trying to figure out what I'm even allowed to do in this game anymore without a killer calling me toxic.
8 -
Add it to the list of things killers get called toxic for doing.
Maybe grow a thicker skin and ignore it instead.
24 -
Will thick skin counter camping, tunneling, and slugging? Will it allow me to play the game I paid for?
10 -
Oh I see you're a hypocrite. Nevermind.
32 -
Sure dude. Enjoy the circle jerk.
12 -
It's not toxic, it's just miserable to play agasint. Like camping. Or tunneling.
11 -
Survivors can run away when they want, the problem is how much time holding W can waste.
At a time when every survivor loves to cry out βFreddy takes no skill!β βSpirit takes no skill!β βRemove bloodlust!β Somehow nobody seems to notice the elephant in the room which is that just running forwards can take up so much of a killers time, drag them sof ar from the objective, and is sometimes more powerful than any actual looping or juking. Worse still are the maps that permit this and enable this style of gameplay. Lerys, Midwich, Hawkins, Mothers dwelling, most of the chases there is just the survivor holding forwards while the rest sit on gens. It takes no skill but hey spirit/freddy/bloodlust are the real problems.
As a killer I will say that those that run early are far more frustrating to play against than those that sit on gens until the last second. I donβt want to jump into PC vs console debate because I believe all players are equally good but I noticed this style of gameplay crept in with console users via crossplay and its really powerful lol but I was born and raised in the PC tryhard scene so I tend to sit on a gen until I can feel the killers breath on my neck. Yolo #allaboutdatgenrushlife

Itβs just annoying to play against as certain killers like doctor who canβt counter it. Itβs why I like playing clown so much right now he shuts the strategy down
5 -
Writing forum posts like this is also toxic, so please stop. Thanks.
12 -
You're going to have to show me the video of this youtuber streamer. Specifically the part where they say this is toxic.
Cause bringing to attention that a strategy is very effective dispite being simple does not sound like calling something toxic to me.
Seems to me the only one calling you toxic is yourself
8 -
Not toxic just boring. Scott has addressed this 8 months ago. The only time i think its toxic is OoO on midwich itd take like 2 minutes running straight to catch a OoO whos on the other side of the map before actually starting the chase.
6 -
Well said, thank you!
2 -
People calling holding W boring... I'm not really sure what else survs are supposed to do? Holding W is how you run away from killers. It's the designated "run away" button. If there are no pallets or windows, holding W is the only option survs have. Should they just stand still and let the killer down them to avoid being boring?
######### me, people really will whine about anything.
17 -
You're supposed to look to the side of you but not at the killer and hold S or D duh.
2 -
i say the exact opposite of this a lot in threads accusing killers of being toxic for camping and tunnelling or stuff
but basically, your job is to win.
turn the gens on, open the doors, and leave. you are not obligated to play fair, you are not obligated to give the killer a chance, and you're not obligated to play bad on purpose so that the killer can get a free kill.
it's not your responsibility to lose so that someone else can win, otherwise it'd be the killer's responsibility to lose so that you can win.
this is a two way street. you should both try your best, and may the best win.
making up rules of things you are and are not allowed to do is just, nonsense. those rules aren't actually present in the game itself. genrushing isn't bannable, and using borrowed time / decisive strike / dead hard / etc isn't bannable either. using the tools the game gives you to win is called playing, even if that tool is holding shift and W at the same time and then leaning back in your chair, satisfied with your contribution to the match.
5 -
What do you mean?
Your thread is literally an echo chamber too
7 -
Loading into the game is toxic just uninstall

Nobody is saying you canβt run away in a straight line, weβre discussing it in terms of balance. Why should survivors be able to run the killer across the entire map just by holding forwards? Why should they be able to waste so much of the killers time with little or no skill required?
Its no different to all the threads complaining about how Freddy can have the highest killrates without requiring as much skill as other killers. Its a question of balance. Players on either side should have to work for their victory.
10 -
The only counter to W gaming:
Actual good map design where killers can cut off survivors.
Reverse Bloodlust where bloodlust builds up if the killer finds nobody and is not in a chase for X seconds and immediately gets removed once he is in 32 or 48 meters of survivors on a horizontal plane, (to prevent moonwalking and stealthkillers just zipping towards you).
4 -
"We"
The problem isn't you running early.
The problem is your squad telling you where the killer is so you don't need to look first from behind solid walls. or if it is a stealth killer like ghost face and you just flat out destroy his power.
3 -
Considering there are entire "top tier" Killers whose powers are completely countered by a single key on your keyboardβPyramid Head and Freddy come to mindβwhen Survivors just hold down one button the entire match, I'm always left asking myself the same question:
Why did you even boot up the game if you clearly don't intend on actually playing it?
4 -
Especially against trapper with no STBFL holding W and running instead of going through unknown stuff wins you the game if your team just genrushes but to be fair most trappers will for this reason use STBFL.
0 -
Holding w is only effective against 7ish killers, any killer that has mobility, a ranged attack, reliable insta down, also if the survivor was injured/exposed already this isn't effective.
Sure it is an issue for those killers but that's just how the game is i honestly see no way to fix this not that it needs to be fixed in the first place.
For those killers the most effective this is against is Freddy :0, trapper, doctor, and PH since his power isn't good in the open.
For killers it works against just slightly less for reasons it's Pig, ghostface, myers, and plague. Maybe leatherface but it's risky.
3 -
lmao dude get over yourself, you're way over dramatising this its actually pathetic
5 -
You got any proof of this? The claim that running is toxic? I would love to see it.
2 -
Its just annoying if every survivor does it. Chases are the "fun" part of the game.
Like all things annoying, people will ######### and moan about it.
3 -
The problem is you're reading arbitrary meanings into actions in the game that ultimately mean nothing to the game itself.
Stop caring what meanings people tie to your actions and play in a manner that is pleasing to you but still meets your objectives.
There is nothing Toxic about just playing the game, END OF STORY

Never said it was toxic said it was effective and on certain maps uncounterable by certain killers. Watch the video and give me a timestamp where he actually said its toxic in the video.
6 -
Can't say for all of them streamers, but most are stating how it's bad when compared to objective speed not as a tactic. Tactic wise it's easy and guarantees near completion of a solo gens when done efficiently. For a m1 standard speed killer it's a major lose for a single hook.
It highlights how reliant matches are on Survivor's mistakes over actual balance between players.
2 -
The strawman you're trying to make is solely 'super upset person every match telling me what I can and cannot do', if your issue is what's toxic and what's not, how about play the way you want to? Shouldn't matter as long as you're having fun, if you're playing a solo role, worry about yourself, who cares what they think.
2 -
Right here is the video OP is talking about
I have watched it and at no point is he saying its toxic he showing how effective just holding W is against all killers who moves at 115% and how good teams can use that to their advantage. I know Tru is a streamer where you either love him or hate him but for the love of god dont put false claims like "Tru says holding W is toxic" just watch the video and listen to what he is saying if you agree or disagree thats fine but dont put false claims on just cause you dont like him
13 -
I really dislike him but yeah, he knows what he is talking about.
Holding W really rewards no brain plays, no one is getting outplayed, but people also pre drop safe pallets and loop around then continue to hold W once bloodlust has been reset.
1 -
Give me a timestamp.
1 -
The point is that it's something the survivors can use to avoid the killer. And anytime there's something that's pro-survival, 99% of the community complains about it.
2 -
The same is true for anything that's pro-killer. It's never "99% of the community" it's a loud minority, or a few posts on the forum...
7 -
The point is that itβs more powerful than it should be for something that takes no skill. Afterall isnβt that the survivor complaint about Freddy? That the power to skill ratio isnβt balanced?
If Freddy needs a nerf then the devs need to nerf this too. Stop making maps like Midwich and Lerys, and donβt make maps as huge as Mothers dwelling. This tactic doesnβt come into play as often on other maps. Its also one of the most boring parts of the game because all you can do is hold W until you catch up to the survivor.
5 -
Play however you want, the only reason this game is considered toxic is because a large majority of the player-base thinks that the rules suggested by the community are law, when in reality a streamer said "x" was annoying and now everyone thinks that's gods word. Slug, tunnel, camp, run nasty perk combos, play the game however you want, will some people have the audacity to get mad at you? Yes, but that's their problem not yours. The perks and strategies are in the game so your allowed to play however you want. If you run OoO in my lobby will I get frustrated? Absolutely. But I'm not gonna report you or hurl slurs at you because I don't have the mindset of a five year old like the vocal majority of this community.
2 -
Hi.
As a killer main I can give you couple more.
No dead hard over traps! That's toxic AND disrespectful.
No cleansing hex totems. I hate when survivors cleanse my 5 stacks Huntress lullaby π‘π
No hiding into the locker with DS! Please, just let me slug you
2 -
Which isn't the case currently. Killer is crazy easy right now. 2/3s of the games I've played, the Killer gets a 4k. I thought maybe it was because I played solo queue, so I started playing Killer and out of the 10 games I played, only 1 was not a 4k, it was a 3k.
2 -
i get your point and its accurate, but dont be unfair towards killer players there are also a lot survivors who have the same mindset with other rules.
lets just say, both sides have their stupid rules nobody is suppose to follow. everyone can use or play how they like to play the game.
1 -
Already not playing with perks
0 -
Wait... So now playing WITH the killer main's ruleset is unfair??
How would you like for survivors to play then?
0 -
I think you forgot where you were... This is the DBD forums. The biggest killer main circle jerk on the internet.
2 -
It goes for both sides. Not just for killers, but you fail to see that apparently

You missed the fact that we don't care about this silly, rant of questionable veracity. I watch a number of the more famous (or infamous) Youtubers/Streamers and I haven't heard anything of the sort. In fact, I'm going to go one further; I don't believe you. Some of these obvious fabrications. Moreover, the less obvious fabrications/exaggerations on your list sounds like rather obvious bait.

There are a lot of killer players saying it's not toxic to hold W. Boring, but not toxic. My guess is that the original post suggesting that it is considered toxic might be wrong.
