That isn't really how game balance works.

There are various ways to buff. One way is to increase skill ceiling. That naturally often does raise the skill floor a bit, but that is ok, you really care about preserving the middle, and killers already totally trash bad survivors anyway.

Basically not every buff actually hurts mid tier vs mid tier's balance. For example, in the middle tier of like... rank 10, survivors aren't using W meta anyway so a nerf that targets that (Say.... again... 'reverse bloodlust') isn't going to be felt by them much at all: They already go straight for the nearest loop spot and don't use that boost. So that boost being made less impactful doesn't matter, it only matters for the people at red ranks and purple ranks who are actively utilizing that boost in a manner above and beyond just getting to the next loop spot.

Other fixes that are sorely needed for high end play WOULD hurt the mid tier. Stronger hooks for example. However, its less likely to do so if you make these changes in a way that instead of just making the killer stronger reduces the survivor's ability to force the best result in these cases.

For example, insta-hook rescues with BT and the like are common at red ranks and are severely devistating. However, at mid ranks generally a hook is actually as good as a slug because survivors aren't great at insta-rescues, especially if they aren't SWF. So making all rescues 'resemble' slugs and mid ranked delayed rescues evens things out. This does reduce survivor skill cap a bit, but frankly survivor skill cap is too high in most cases and the survivor just has too much room to be 'better' than the killer. You still are rewarded for good rescues no matter what, but now it isn't 'oh ok the killer lost because you undid a minute of work in a few seconds and 1 minute in red ranks is 3 gens done so they literally don't have time to win another chase.'

Tapping down the max payoff of things is a VERY common game design tool and could do a lot of work in DBD.

Finally, and this is the most important thing: You could declare that those mid rank players who are currently winning due to systems you can't avoid nerfing, and need to negatively impact, 'boosted.' This is, in fact, how 99% of games handle it. If something is OP or not functioning well, and you nerf it or buff it and then people start losing now that its at the level it 'should be' that is GOOD.

If mid tier killers get buffed heavily and survivors start losing, it means those survivors weren't very good.

Anyone at rank 10 who is only there because killers are underpowered deranking because they are put at an appropriate power level isn't 'unfairly' losing rank, anymore than anyone is 'unfairly' losing rank if their main in a game gets nerfed because they are op.

Preserving survivor ranks is not a goal of balance changes. It is, in reality, kinda the opposite.

Part of the goal here is to, low key, make survivor harder because survivor is so bonkers busted, and to 'unfurl' the ranks a bit so there are more people in the mid ranks. If your a purple survivor struggling to pip and you go down to green because of a general killer buff... whatever. You are still as good as you were, its just the game now is recognizing your skill is legitimately different than someone else at purple who is hovering at purple despite those killer buffs. You are framing this as 'survivors will be negatively affected by buffs' when in reality it just means survivors will be placed at more accurate ranks which is not a negative occurrence, it just means future matches of theirs will be closer.

"If people can play killers like Wraith and Trapper at top level no one has an excuse"

No one with any inkling of experience in this game is referencing simply rank 1 with "top level", they are referencing "good" survivors.

IE either my assumption was indeed accurate or you are misusing the phrase "top level".

If you are actually meaning "good" survivors in your original statement then you are flat out wrong. Those people playing Wraith and Trapper you are referencing aren't playing against good survivors. Wraith and Trapper do not win against good survivors unless they are playing like potatoes.

i really want to get to rank 1 but man red ranks are such a pain in the ass. at purple ranks there was at least variety, now its just spirit, nurse, spirit, nurse, spirit, nurse, spirit, nurse, infinite t3 judiths tombstone myers, and the occasional billy or camping bubba. im sick of these op addon sweatbags. i hate red ranks but i want to push forward and hopefully get to rank 1 one day

My point doesn't change. Play trapper/wraith against good players and face the same result because these killers are pretty easy to deal with.

Sure holding shift + W is a good strategy, but unfortunately this only works if the killer doesn't possess a pair of functioning eyes. And when a killer can move 70% faster than the survivor (minimum) you're not outrunning a Spirit who just saw you run away from the pallet while you saw nothing.

Or she spends 2 seconds breaking the pallet then 5 seconds catching up to you because you're now in an area that doesn't have anything to work with.

But I'm glad people still think it's a viable strategy against her, it gets me a LOT of free hits if I ever play Spirit

I like Scott Jund's videos as well.

However what you call cheesy is basically the only thing that works at really high rank play. Doesn't matter if you find it boring, if you don't like it ,everything else would have to be as cheesy lol

Bro do you ever play survivor? All you do is champion anything a killer does to win. We all get that gens go too fast and 90% of the killers can't really win the game against try hard survivors. But is it really worth it? Winning at all costs? Who f'ing cares at a certain point. Not all survivors are dickheads. Its just a (noncompetitive/random) game.

I already laid out what happens if you engage in the mindgame. I find Shift+W provides the best outcomes. There are some exceptions, obviously, but this is the stuff you need to figure out on your own.

I'm a survivor main. Haven't touched killer in a very long time.

If you want to change the "win at all costs" mentality in the community, you're talking with the wrong person. On the rare occasion that I do play killer for extended periods of time, I stay at rank 10 because I play casually, trying out random builds or killers I'm not good with. Survivor is a different story, because it's so easy I find myself in red ranks without even trying.

You said she’s exactly where she needs to be yet she’s the buggiest killer in the game.

Deathslinger, Hag, Oni, Clown all control the flow of chases and I don’t have an issue with them

I can mindgame bad to decent nurses but once we get into great/god nurses it gets a bit insane especially with infectious and knockout

Nurse is tough because most players that use her get destroyed, but there's that 10% or so of nurses where that person is an unstoppable God with her. Against these guys there is no reason to even bother, unless youre a 4 man depip squad gen rushing team of twits. I Don't want to nerf her btw.

Even though it's supposedly turned off I've definitely noticed a difference in matchmaking the last 2 weeks.

Even with random builds or nothing you should find yourself in red ranks with killer. I am legit struggling to downrank because it just keeps giving me safety pips if i want to get bp.
