Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

If you think Hawkins is a bad map for Trapper, think again!

I'm probably the only person who actually enjoys playing Trapper on Hawkins. Now I know what you're thinking, how is the actually a good map for Trapper? It's pretty good for Trapper because you can trap places such as the hole in the walls, and upstairs are also great for trap spots. Usually when I send myself or the Entity decides to send me to Hawkins, I usually catch a lot of people off guard with where I place my traps. Another great place to trap is where that upstairs gen is, the one where you basically have to be looking behind you at all times when doing a generator. The room right next to that gen with the hole that survivors will drop through when a killer is approaching, is a really great trap spot. It's insane how many times I've caught someone off guard with that trap, all you do is put a trap infront of the hole and survivors will get snatched. After the satisfaction of winning this match I made a bowl of ice cream because it was well earned, enjoy the Trapper gameplay!

@Echorion since you're a Trapper main, wanna judge my performance?

Well he’s entitled to his wrong opinion.

I’ve never lost a match on Hawkins as Trapper. It’s so strong for him. He’s also great on Haddonfield. It always makes me laugh when a survivor brings a Strode Realty Key offering whilst I’m playing as him.

    Sure I'll take a look.

I don't consider this a terrible trapper map but when otz says it he is first and foremost usually talking about if he can hide traps or not. Like he might say wreckers yard is a bad trapper map (idk if he ever has), but it's still a really good map for any killer it's just hard to hide traps on because of the terrain and crappy grass.

Well haddonfield is still haddonfield, trapper suffers less than most killers because of his ability, but it's still a challenge at times against efficient survivors just because of the nature of the map, and the godly loops it has in which you can't possibly stop them all so you are very reliant on your traps.

    Anyways watching now.

I always said that Hawkins is a good trapper map. Sure there are better ones but Trapper is one of few killers where I always have a good experience on maps like Haddonfield for example.

Trapper's best maps are all the indoor maps.

Hawkins as Trapper is pretty fun. I like to put a trap under the hole from upstairs and when a survivor falls down they get trapped. Sometimes it doesn't work if they dodge it while falling, but when it does it's pretty #########' funny.

Nice use of off meta perks haha, I really liked that dead hard bait pretty early on.

That is a good map for surge too.

You keep your traps changing, not going back to the same spots too much which is good as well.

Against a really efficient group though, I think they would have wizened up to the rubble traps after the first bit, most folks are not going to fall for a pattern like that after a certain point, there would have been some disarms going off for sure I imagine, but they never really bothered with that and stepped in some of them even when you were not around. You'll probably need some more varied trap spots.

They are all Claudette's though, I assumed they were on comms and coordinating but like, they never really clued in that the rubble piles were bad haha.

You did good though dude, I like the use of off meta stuff a lot. Hope you play lots of trapper :)

Generally they will hit it most of the time, some survivors if they expect a trap like that, usually only really good ones, they will let go and then press move again again to make themselves dodge it midair. Most folks don't though and either hold W or just let go entirely.

This applies to almost every drop down trap. However traps have a slight vacuum to them too so it's not always enough. You have to kinda figure out of they are the really good players who are going to do that or not, and you can kinda adjust the trap a bit to snag them if they try that.

He has some good out door ones too, don't underestimate the power of tall grass and bushes, the macmillian maps can be really good for example.

Also, the new game map is indoor and it can still really suck, your traps stand out an awful lot and they have too many god pallets for you to deal with even with traps usually.

You can pull some interesting stuff off down stairs though, and in a few spots.

I really REALLY like midwich though; your default traps camo so well into much of the map, and it has a lot of narrow passages.

But good Trappers don’t use traps to catch unsuspecting Survivors just walking around, they use traps to end chases quickly. A good trapper will place traps in running lanes and loop paths regardless if they’re in the open or not. Unless an injured survivor has dead hard they can’t do much except walk into it or let you down them.

font get me wrong if you CAN hide it I think it’s obvious to do so, but I have had great games on Leary’s, Hawkins, and Even Midwitch by placing traps where I know survivors will run once I start a chase, and then funnel them into them

People that complain about Hag being a camping killer are just as wrong in the same way. A hag using her traps to proxy hooks is a bag hag. A hag who places her traps in loop paths and lanes, and using the camera snap to screw with vaults and timing are the good ones

The problem is that most good survivors already know about these trap spots.

Hawkins is generally pretty good for all killers since there's a small area you need to defend. There's no point in trying to defend the isolation room or the gen by the portal so that leaves you 5 gens that are pretty easy to rotate between.

You can get some bad door spawns that force you to have to walk all the way around which is annoying.

Trapper just has the issue that indoor maps are hard to hide traps so they are easy for survivors to spot and avoid. Dark trap addon don't help either as make them more noticeable on the white surface that Lery's, Hawkins, and The Game have.

I do love that office area on Lehry's, you can do some fun stuff there and in the hallways. Trapping the desk is a fun one too, lot of dead end things you can do in that spot.

There are good areas to trap on Lery's. I remember having a solid Trapper game on Lery's without addons because for some reason Trapper always unequips addons after games regardless of how many I have.

The life of trapper is never having any brown bags left despite swearing you had a few hundred not too long ago.

As a general rule, indoor maps are great for trapper. I'm always happy to see an indoor map offering in my Trapper game.

No offense to Otz since I do watch him and been following him since his DS2 runs but he also said that console players were bad a very long time ago, he has lost most streaks against console players.

He also has a video on yt where he said something close to that.

He is an amazing trapper sure but he can be wrong.

Trapper on Hawkins has led to so much unintentional BM when i play on it it's not even funny XD

I love Hawkins because it fits my Trapper build really well (I run Surge and always get big value on that map). Traps aren’t that bad either, trapping the rubble at some of the entrances can really slow the survivors down in loops and catch them off guard.

As a Trapper main, look at the addon (self open traps). I feel the vid doesnt prove Trapper on Hawkins isnt that bad. The map has many choke point, which is force survivor to disarm the trap or they're completely trapped, and the addon does exact the job, which is self open again.

To me, if he does well with a single Brownbag add-on in a map, thats mean the map is good for him (MacMillan, Crotus, Yamaoka..)

The only place that hide traps well in Hawkins are the Gates area. At least better than the Game which has no place to set.

It's probably my favourite Trapper map besides the Macmillian maps!

The amount of times I've caught someone with a little corner trap right by a gen is almost comical.

Sometimes I'll bring a Hawkins offering with honing and iri stone with third seal just because getting those suprise traps with the iri stone at the upstairs gen. They're like hehe I disarmed your trap and then it opens again and traps them, it's too funny and basically makes the gen unviable if I can keep my ruin totem up, which is one less gen to defend.
