Kill Switch update: The issue affecting Baermar Uraz's Ugly Sweater has been fixed and the cosmetic has been reenabled in all queues with this update.

This is the only and most interesting way of making the game more immersive

Make the survivor's camera 1st person instead of the current 3rd person. I want this because it would make the survivor role much more challenging. It would also force survivors that don't look behind them in chases to look behind them. For those wondering: You would not have to rotate the camera at a 360-degree angle to look behind them (although you could that if you want to). But there would be a simple press & hold button to look behind them.

For those concerned about the game's balance and everything related to that. You could make an experiment or PTB, even doe that would be kind of obvious to do before implementing a BIG feature like this.

I don’t see how this would make it scarier at all. With the exception of stealth killers, most killers you would hear a heartbeat and know they are there.

I would rather them focus on more atmospheric elements being scary like map environments and sounds. Granted that only works for a short time as well.

It would make it scarier since you don't see beside walls and objects like you can in the current 3rd person camera view. So you wouldn't really be able to see which way the killer is coming from. It could make it pretty intimidating.

I'd stop playing because I get nasty motion sickness in 1st person. :( it's why I don't play killer, and I don't think the perk that widens FOV would help either.

if this was a toggleable thing or a mode on its own, maybe. There's even a funny YouTube mock up of a 1st person survivor in midwich, have you seen it?

They probably didn't like it because of how bad the animations were at the time. They were super glitchy and buggy looking. You can't use their 2015/2016 statement to this day.

Ah, another one of those "Nerf Survivvors"-Threads which are disguised as "Make the game more scary". It wont be scary, really. Maybe at the start, but once you get used to it, you will not be scared anymore.

Like, play Outlast 10 times in a row. And then tell me you are scared at any point. There are people who are playing DBD for thousands of hours, they would not be scared if it would be first person.

Let alone that this is a huge change for a game which is out for almost 5 years. And lets not forget that a huge part of DBD is holding M1 on a Generator, this would be more boring if you cannot look around as freely as possible and spend most of your time looking into the Gen.

I think survivors should have their FoV restricted (not necessarily have their PoV set to first person, just restrict the camera angle somewhat) while interacting with something (gens, healing, unhooking, sabotaging, etc.) or while inside a locker, but having them in first person all the time is a bad idea. The game is simply not made for that, it'd require so many readjustments that it'd ultimately not be worth the effort.

Forget that I said it would make it scary. This community seems to like hooking up on words. It would make the survivor gameplay experience much more immersive and interesting. Also, I am a survivor main btw so don't start thinking I want to nerf survivors to the ground.

This community seems to like hooking up on words.

Words are how you express ideas in writing. There are no pictures, no spoken words, no tone indicators, nothing. You can't exactly blame "the community" for getting hung up on the only thing that carries information in written text. We can't read your mind. If you want to say something, then you need to explain it properly.

You can make other reasons up, but you guys chose to focus only on this wording "it would make the game scarier".

    100% this.

If you had a ghost in your house with bloody clothes who groaned in the night, you'd be scared. But, unless you were actively in danger, you'd get used to the ghost eventually. As soon as your mind learned that ghosts can't hurt you, any other ghosts you encounter would be pretty 'meh' on the frightometer.

First Person for survivors just doesn't work balance wise. Killers don't have to look behind them because they're never being chased by something that can take them out of the game. (They sometimes get chased by people with flashlights, but that's a different story.) Survivors have to look behind them so they can see the killer. (Also in first person mode, being chased by a killer you can't see would eventually become pretty dull)

Just look at how newbies play the game vs veterans. Newbies are frightened to do generators. I remember my noob days when I had no idea where I was going, and hid in lockers at every chance i got. It was pretty scary for a while, but these days -- while still getting jump scared by Hag Traps once in a while (or freak out seeing Myers walking out of nowhere in Tier 1) it's just normal. You adjust over time. The game can't be made 'scary' because even if it's scarier for a little while, you'll adjust eventually. And temporary frights isn't really worth the game's balance.
