Killers should be more overpowered than survivors.

Lately in this forum people have been complaining so much about killers being way too overpowered. The Killers in this game are not overpowered (except maybe Freddy). People complain about the little things about both sides, killer mains hating on survivor mains and vice versa. I play both sides equally so I am not biased. The forum and the community keep pounding nerf requests on killers that don't even need nerfs. I also see posts about completely balanced survivor perks that " need a nerf"

The truth is that the killers should be powerful, they have to go up against a four-man survivor team. They need to be good enough to actually play the game and beat the survivors. Games like f13 created Jason who is overpowered in both the game and the movies, it was fun because there was basically an almost unstoppable enemy which made the game very interesting to play. In this game, the moment the new killer releases, the survivors and some of the killers begin to hate immediately, it's either too bad or too good because no killer can ever be perfect.

The Killers should be overpowered compared to the survivors. The game is not as scary as other games out there, killers that are more powerful and creepy looking is what we need. The problem is that most people are missing the concept of DBD and get pissed off when a killer is powerful and wont stop complaining about it. People need a reason to fear the killers.

But I don't mean completely make the game killer sided like f13. There needs to be a balance between the game, the killer should be powerful but not impossible to play against. The game should feel tough every round. Like there cannot be a killer that just destroyes everyone. The game needs balance, and to create balance the survivor perks need a slight buff to the ones that are not very great, and the killers all need tweaking to make them strong. Perhaps DBD could make game modes like 2v8 to help the killer and to help the survivors. Strong killers would give a reason to fear them.

When you say only maybe freddy, do you mean that freddy is the strongest killer? When you say Freddy is maybe op then Nurse and Spirit are clearly op, too.

A killer should be strong enough to beat 4 survivor, but he shouldnt be stronger then that.

Maybe not overpowered but the killer should be at least more powerful because they are out numbered.

I play both sides. I try not to be bias but I often find myself supporting the killer half of the community because I feel they are the ones getting shafted the most. Must have something to do with being the minority?

Most survivors think the killer caught me so he must be OP. What people fail to grasp is "1" survivor is not meant to stand a chance against the killer. Otherwise what's the point of having a team? Survivors can't see how their team is contributing. They only have their perspective. So when they die they think the killer needs a nerf because they lost.

Survivors. When the killer see's you he IS GOING to catch you. It's just a question of how much time it takes. Unless you can juke him, which is really hard against decent killers, they will down you. That's not the point. The point is if you wasted their time enough for your team to do gens then you essentially won.

is it wrong for killers to be slightly OP?

Aren't killers suppose to be threatening, scary and be the boss?

if survivors can just tbag and heal and do gens infront of any killer except for nurse and spirit then the balance is all ######### wrong

If only people understood this point then it wouldn't be so hard for killers.

Honestly, they really should do somehting like this: make dying way less punishing, and make killers very deadly. Why? Because this would bring back the horror aspect of the game. It would feel like you have a chance to escape, but you must do your best. Also, punish killers more for not getting kills. This would turn the balance over. You have the killer chasing you, you don't last long and there's no situation in which they give up on chasing because you are spinning around something.

I'm a killer main, and that is because I find it scarier to go against a bully squad than going against a Korean idol that can't stop maiking noises. I want the scary aspect back. That's what the game needs.

Oni was a great addition. After all the time he's been out, I still shake my hands while chased by a blood furry oni. We need more killers that make you never feel safe.

True, but I do think that the killer should be powerful. I mean it is a 4v1, an asymmetrical game. The killer is literally supposed to be the power role, not a laughing stock, but by no means OP.

Oh everyone by the way, I didn't mean to put overpowered. I meant that the killer should be powerful and not something to laugh at.

is this what BHVR thinks is what a balanced killer looks like?

The fact that you think freddy might be overpowered shows that you know about as much about this game as those people do. At high MMR/tournament level play, the only VIABLE killer is nurse and maybe spirit.

Freddy is just as high as nurse/sprit on most tier lists. Plus he has the highest kill rate. Freddy is one of the top 4 best killers.

Ah yes what great ideas everyone.

Lets make a game where 1 side isn’t supposed to win. The 70% kill rate isn’t enough, it should be about 99%.

Imagine how many people would love to play in a game that they are designed to lose in. It would be such a success

Freddy isnt really op, spirit and Nurse would fall under the OP category but they are just the best killers. Freddy is just easy to play, not overpowered

The killer needs to be about as strong as four survivors put together. Neither side should be OP.

I mean, when a killer is chasing a survivor, that survivor should be like "oh crap, oh crap!" when they're on their own and so another survivor comes running in like, "I got you, fam! Just hold on!" Pallets should help and all, but survivors' strength is supposed to be in their numbers, not in their perks or in the RNG of the maps.

Part of the problem is that balance on the survivor side is a mess. Four uncoordinated solos are doomed. Four coordinated solos are pretty strong. And a coordinated SWF can be really strong.

It's difficult to balance killers when the balance of survivors is all over the map due to so many different variables, some of which the game doesn't bother to help with, really (uncoordinated survivors can sacrifice perk slots to try to be more coordinated... meanwhile SWF can be waaay more coordinated on comms without sacrificing any perk slots). And current matchmaking screws over everyone.

That is my view on it, which is liable to be just as wrong as every other player's view, but there ya go.

The fact you didn't say nurse and spirit were OP is insane considering they both take little to no skill to master.

Killers should be more powerful than Survivors, that's true.

I have 1k+ hours on FT13. I can assure you, counselors are much more powerful than Jason.

People aren’t going to agree with you just cause you said OP. I would word it differently. This is suppose to be a horror game. Therefore, the killer should have the power role. However, that’s not the case. The Survivors are the power role and the killer is the sweat and panic role.

Isn't F13 the game where people would gang up on Jason and beat the shite out of him?

That is not single game and that is not fantasy of 4K game. That game has to be balance and fair for both sides.

If killers will be op, you think that game will be fun? And you think survivors will keep play? You will die most of games and you will still keep play? You really think that is good idea? I am glad you are not dev buddy, DbD would die years ago with you.

It's great to say the game needs to be balanced but different people have different ideas on what balanced is. How do you quantify balance?

  • ShamelessPigMain
    ShamelessPigMain Member Posts: 1,877

How about we have people equally powered?

Plus, Freddy is far from OP, he's just easy to pick up. Nurse, Spirit, and sometimes Hag (better hope you're a SWF) are much more powerful than him, but harder to play.

Killers are stronger than survivors early on and in lower ranks generally.

Good survivors (in a SWF) are stronger than good killers however.

You could technically win like dozens of games in a row in red ranks as clown or wraith or whatever; but if you took them into say a tournament or against tournament squads you are going to get absolutely demolished. It's why tournaments have to be done so specifically and with certain rules and conditions.

  • Red_Beard
    Red_Beard Member Posts: 550

But PUB matches aren't tournaments and most people players are never going to play in a tournament. So it should be fine to lose a game or 2 here and there because you went up against one of these rare squads.

The killers should have some advantage just not as much as they do now. They have way too much priority.

I also would like the killer to be the power role. At least the game be slightly killer sided.

How I would imagine this game becoming that is by:

    - Making maps smaller. So gens are closer to each other too. Something like Glendale. This so the killer has more chances to break off a chase into the next one, or check on gens. At the same time, survivors should be in the TR more, so they have less the feeling off safety. (This is what I imagine l, at least)

    - Make loops less safe. More loops like the TL's, maybe SLIGHTLY unsafer, but more of them packed together, so there is CONSTANT mindgaming, and no pauses in between, which are created by Safe Pallets and windows.

At the same time, make most walls and rubble higher, mostly for (or against) ranged killers, so they don't get too easy downs at these now smaller loops.

There should probably be some killer specific changes, if this would ever be done... (One can dream). But this is the idea I had...

Yeah obviously killer needs tweaks to be better. Against high skilled teams most killers will struggle to get more than 2 kills. Not anti buff, anti making the game incredibly unfun for one side.
