Removing/Triggering Reverse Bear Traps
After several matches as the Pig today I'm wondering if perhaps their are a lot of new players that don't know how the Reverse Bear Traps work and wondered if any one else has noticed this. Several times they have continued to do generators as the timer ticks down perhaps because they think that finishing the generators and opening the exit gates and leaving is how to stop them.
I would even deadly wound them, carry them to a puzzle box and let them struggle free or put them down so another survivor would heal them. More than once the survivor would just run off to a generator. Once a survivor kept trying to get the one with the trap on to follow them and pointed to the puzzle box to no avail.
Not sure if anyone else has encountered this however I thought it might be a good idea just in case to put some information on Reverse Bear Traps here for new players.
- Traps aren't active until a generator has been finished being repaired after it has been place on the survivor.
- If the trap is active it must be removed before trying to exit through one of the exit gates. This does not apply to the hatch which can be safely used even if the trap is active.
- In order to remove the trap the puzzle boxes(highlighted in white) until the key is found before the trap explodes.
- If the timer reaches zero or a survivor tries to leave through the exit gate with an active trap the are instantly sacrificed.

The timer does pause when being chased by the killer.

Proving the point of OP, heh. Yea, the timers pause while in a chase.

These were lower ranks. Generally 17 to 20 I noticed which is why I thought they may be new to the game.

you cant get out with a trap on your head and you cant get a trap off if you're being chased.
That said, I'm sure they will learn the hard way. We all did, right?

I watched a dwight do 3 gens with me with a trap on his head. I pointed at the box and he sat on the gen. I asked him what he was doing in the endgame and he said "I forgot I had a trap." I never laughed so much before.

I play mostly against purple or red survivors with Miss Amanda and yes, lately I've noticed the phenomenon as well. Especially that people then wanted to run out of the gate with the activated RBT. No idea what's going on there?
@BrokenSoul : Maybe this is a mistake? It should not be like that, when you are chased the timer should stop.

The timer should stop (your portrait will turn white instead of red), but the ticking sound will continue. However, the timer does not stop while searching boxes, so maybe that contributed. You got chased off a box, timer pauses, you lose the killer, so the chase ends and the timer continues, but now you have to spend additional time getting back to a box
shrug I don't know as I didn't see the game you played, but that's how it should work

Dude, I saw this in a RED RANK game the other day. Dude tried to run out the exit gates with a beeping trap. The pig and I just tbagged the body for a few seconds, both thoroughly confused. Then a quick boop and I was out.
But, how do you make it to red ranks and not know this?

Pig isn't all that common a killer, and often you are trapped early on in the match rather than later, so I guess he'd never been in that position before.
Reaching red ranks isnt that hard if you have competent team mates

Fair enough, but it was a solo q. Maybe he was boosted on other occasions. Perhaps he had a buddy with him.

You can get out with an unactivated trap. If the trap is put on after the Gates are powered, it's not active and you can leave with it on.
Also, you can take the Hatch if you find it regardless of having an activated trap on your head.

Sometimes the Pig can keep their distance to keep the trap ticking because the game hasn't registered that they are in a chase. Not sure if that's what may have happened.
