This year has been kinda dry, 5th anniversary better be good.
Hey people of the fog, I got some things to mention of how this year has been kinda dry.
I honestly think this year has been really dry imo.
It started of amazing, we got Silent Hill, (amazing chapter btw) new graphical updates on the way and a new map as well.
But this year has been an awful experience imo, a month after the Silent Hill chapter was released, it got pretty dry from there.
We haven't gotten a map for 10 months, the recent new killers are ig fun enough, but just not viable at all, aside from Blight. The events has really sucked, the Blight event was decent, with the addon, but that was it. The Lunar New Year event sucked ass, it was literally more bloodpoints, and a few skins you gotta pay money for. (seriously what part of that is an "event?") Binding of Kin had a good survivor, but seriously the only fun part about a survivor is the perks, whereas The Twins is just an awful killer in general. The only effective way to play Twins, is to tunnel, slug and camp, and if you don't do that, you've lost.
I gotta admit I really loved the Blight chapter really good, aside from Felix' perks that are pretty bad and all the bugs with Blight, and Twins' bugs as well.
No licensed killers for 10 months as well. We got a mid-chapter patch that legit broke the game, and im not a big fan of the map reworks, first of all The Game (The map) is just broken with the amount of pallets there, and Crotus Prenn has just gotten fps drops for me. We finally got a rework for Clown which is decent, but just not enough to make him viable nor fun to play.
We got some new animations im not a big fan of. I personally like the old HUD more than the new one, but not that it changes a lot anyway.
The newest chapter was actually really good, amazing survivor, amazing music, amazing design, AMAZING trailer, but again, just not a viable killer at all. I already don't meet any Tricksters anymore, which is understandable, you really wanna play and like the guy, but he's just so weak.
There's probably more to write down, but this is all I remember.
I really hope this anniversary is gonne be something big bhvr!
But tbh they always nail the anniversarys so I have high hopes.

It's not like there was a global pandemic or anything that could've had an effect on anything. The game industry as a whole shows the stress of the last year, every major company has fallen short on their goals and content releases because of it. Some have done a good job of covering it up a bit but its showing everywhere.

Good point, but when we take a look and compare the content that these companies release compared to behaviour, most were able to do a lot more. For example, although it had a major delay, Bungie was able to release Beyond Light for Destiny 2, which was a large expansion that, although problematic, still delivered a large amount of content. Since Behaviour's only major game is DbD, and the company has over 700 people employed, there's no real excuse as to the content we got being so bad at points of time.

They better get their things done.
Or Hshs will dominate.
2 -
I really hope the 5th year anniversary is licensed, i dont like how awful rhe recent original killers have been.
1 -
People have put too much into dbd to leave
3 -
It's on the horizon.
13 -
They could probably tie in the map remasters into the 5th anniversary. That would help.
1 -
I'm actually pumped for this game, I love the evil dead
3 -
Hell yeah! Same here lets hope it's a groovy game!
5 -
It will be. Anniversary events do not disappoint. They never did.
3 -
BP offerings and Blood rush with discounts on skins every year that's poggers undisappointing content
1 -
All I'm going to say is that Twins are 100% viable, they're just a bit questionable to play.
Also keep in consideration that COVID happened during these times. It's hard to coordinate effectively while working from home.
1 -
We're not blaming the dev's for covid happening. But covid doesn't change the fact that 2020-2021 have been pretty slow years for dbd. We get why it's like this, just unfortunate.
1 -
I just hope the anniversary event will be good, and hopefully no tome challenges to ruin it. That's the reason why we don't have New Year's or Christmas events anymore
5 -
Agreed. Same with Lunar events: Scarlet Swarm and Gilded Stampede don't even deserve to be called "events". And do not forget about the Summer event, which was basically destroyed because of the battle pass. And the Eternal Blight...well, I think we all know what that was.
3 -
1 year Anniversary had community-wide challenges which unlocked several rewards, including a new map (Groaning Storehouse)
2 year Anniversary had an Auric Cells raffle and a Tournament
3 year Anniversary had a new offering and a new item (Gruesome Gateau and Third Year Party Starter)
4 year Anniversary had a new offering (Ghastly Gateau), Fourth Year Flashlight, Fourth Year Med-Kit and the anniversary crowns.
I would hardly consider such events "disappointing".

The Halloween Event this year better deliver, because that half baked one from last year will never be forgotten for how bad it was.
6 -
Probably the worst event in Dead by Daylight's history. They should make a big Halloween event this time, something like The Hallowed Blight. Or even better.

How does pandemic affect the quality of content?
Do workers suddenly start doing their job worse or what?
I get that it would take longer due to distant working being not the most optimal way, but the quality (balance, visuals etc) shouldn't decrease.

Sorry to bump in, but I Honestly can't think of a bigger fuckup in the whole game, then the 2020 blight event. A lot of drama inside the game, there wasn't a way to get the cosmetics but by paying to get them. But the worst of it I think came from outside the game with the DwightCrow, a mod and a fogwhisperer, and the complete lack of care or empathy of the community the devs showed, the only thing they did good was giving away free shards and stuff so you could get said cosmetic. Literally the worst event I ever had in any game, hell it wasn't even an event!

I miss the weekly dev streams, where the devs kept us updated on everything that was planned.
I also miss the roadmap we got 2 years ago. That one really helped with getting an overview.
All in all, there hasn´t been much communication from the devs and i think this needs to change drastically.

Precisely. It is sad, to be honest, because the other Halloween events were very good: All Hallows' Eve was nice, The Hallowed Blight was the best one and even The Withering Blight was tolerable. But The Eternal Blight... You are right, my friend. That thing do not deserve to be called an event.

It was technically my first actual halloween event I ever experienced while playing this game, aside from the rift 1 pustulas serums you could get which I liked, but I got DBD on the same day Cursed legacy was released.

I see. December of 2019, if I am not mistaken. I feel sorry for you, my friend, as your first Halloween event was literally the worst.
I first started playing DBD in December of 2018. I've missed All Hallows' Eve and The Hallowed Blight, same as you. Luckily, I got to experience Winter Solstice and Moonrise, both really good events. I wish we had good events more often... we need it.

Its fine, the summer event, and 4th anniversary event was enough more me.
0 -
Summer event? You mean the Scorching Summer BBQ from 2018?
0 -
Yeah I'm sorry but if the HALLOWEEN event for a self proclaimed HORROR game was lackluster and disappointing, I fail to see how the anniversary will be anything special. My guess is we get the crown thing again, bp hook/gen boosts and maybe some auric exclusive cosmetics.
0 -
Wait my bad it was, the 2020 lunar that one was enjoyable
0 -
kind of a harsh criticism when you know they were at reduced staff and efficiency (as most places were).
1 -
Scarlet Swarm? That is interesting. Not many players seem to like that event, especially it had nothing other than log-in rewards. But it was certainly better than The Eternal Blight.
0 -
Yeah I mean it ahd less drama, but I guess 4th anniversary was the only event I ever participated in that was actually good for most people
0 -
Yeah, the 4th Anniversary was a really good event. 5th Anniversary better not disappoint.
2 -
We are counting after the dbd anniversary my guy. The year of the game.

This content has been removed.
-
Makes sense. But if the fun is not there anymore, and if the gameplay & esport potentials are made better somewhere else, people will leave.
MMR pushed will result in high ranks getting bored. I let you guess what they'll do !
1 -
Wish they made the blight and lunar event like the old ones and not just a BP event I hope the next chapter is licensed with good perks and a good killer and a new map
0 -
yeah i only need 5th blight in a row to quit playing dbd for a while
1 -
This event better come with 2v8 or something huge.
Effectively after Twins and Trickster, I haven't gotten a new killer to play since October. Purely because playing as those 2 is just *pain*

Maybe BHVR just sacrificed the quality of this chapter so they could focus their resources on the anniversary chapter lol
0 -
Unfortunately, Behavior said that they're not interested in new game modes and that they're happy with the current 1v4 mode.

My only thing is that you painted the Lunar New Year celebration like an event when the devs literally said before the winter holidays celebration that there will be only an Anniversary and Halloween event with anything else just being a celebration that was much smaller. So they actually didn't call the Lunar New Years thing an event, they said it was a smaller celebration which holds true. People are just painting it as an event to make it seem bad when the devs said it would not be a full blown event. Like look at it as a mini celebration, seems more accurate. Look at it as an event, all of a sudden it looks terrible.
0 -
Well in comparison to previous years.
Yeah it was a terrible event. But that is why we are expecting so much from this anniversary event.
1 -
Considering how lack luster the last 2 chapters and how lame the Halloween "event" was. I predict more disappointment.
2 -
We’ve had more changes implemented into this game more than ever before over the past 12 months. With the amount of map reworks we’ve had it could be reasoned that we’ve gotten dozens of “new” maps.
0 -
yeah it's been a pretty ######### year for dbd, not just event wise either, all but blight has been a pretty meh killer for me especially the last 2 trickster and the twins are the only dlc I have zero intention to buy.
