Debate: Oni versus Billy.

I personally believe Billy is a long stronger than Oni. Let me give my reason to why I think Billy is stronger, and a few points against the usual arguments to why Oni is better than Billy.

1. Much stronger early game. Billy starts with his insane mobility at the very first second of the match. Oni does not have that and relies on M1 attacking a survivor to get his power. Which in turn, if is looped a lot by good survivors, may take a long long time to get it. The passive charge is not something to rely on at all.
2. Billy's ability does not go off. That's quite obvious, but still significant. With Oni, it's a constant grinding for your ability, deciding when to activate it or not as so on. Billy on the other hand, has his ability permanently. The cooling period is not something significant at all.
3. Oni has much higher change to get punished for using his ability. It takes time to activate it for the first time. It takes time to activate it after the initial activation. During that time, survivors can make distance and potential outplays, where you miss a M1 hit due to being greedy for an instadown. Billy doesn't really have that issue, since he can cancel his ability in no time and quickly go for the M1 instead. Billy also doesn't lose his ability to do a quick M1 as Oni does in his power. Which in some scenarios, if you miss your demon strike, you've missed an opportunity to both down or injure a survivor.
4. Billy is faster in his ability. Oni can almost reach his speed with specific add-ons, but nevertheless, it is the case. Billy is faster and can traverse the map quicker.
5. Oni loses a lot of speed and time just collecting blood orbs to charge his ability. Instead of focusing straight on the survivors and the gens, Oni's will go sideline to collect pools of blood and do so during a chase as well, which slow-down is a good favor to survivors.
6. Billy is not more easily loopable than Oni's Demon Strike. In fact, I find it easier to deal with survivors trying to 360 me with Billy. If you've mastered Billy, you'll know how to keep your chainsaw from flying and release it exactly when you see a survivor in front of you, while in close range and not charging. With Oni this is much harder to, and you will get punished if you fail.
7. The part where people say Oni's ability is easier to control than Billy's, to me that's sounds like an excuse not to spend the time to master Billy. Billy's chainsaw is NOT impossible to navigate, and you can indeed make great plays with it, even against good survivors.
8. You have more potential to mindgame with Billy's ability. WIth Oni, that's not quite easy, assuming you have your ability. And the initial activation time and alert, it just makes it worse and quite risky to attempt.
9. Billy's chainsaw noise is NOT much louder than Oni's dash. I don't think I've ever in this game been insta-downed because I couldn't hear an Oni coming at me with the dash. And you always know he has a dash due to that loud scream when he activates his ability. Which again, may be used by survivors to avoid it, hide in lockers etc. and generally rob him of his ability. There's A LOT of strategies good survivors can use to completely rob Oni of his ability and turn him into an M1 killer. Obviously that's not the case for Billy, as he always has his ability.
10. Billy's perks are better. Now that's not directly related for the killer, but I cannot miss on that point. Oni's perks are not quite sufficient to be honest. Blood echo is not that bad, but it requires you to hook someone to activate it, which isn't going to be useful a lot of the times, as Oni's usually slug a lot. If you do hook someone then the exhaustion effect is somewhat useful, but then again, I don't think it's a perk that will turn the game into your favor, which would otherwise be the opposite. Hemmorhage is quite useless status effect too. Nemesis and it's Oblivious status effect is quite nice, but then again, it works only on 1 person. Compare that to Billy's tinkerer and the amount of information it gives you PLUS the fact that you basically lose your terror radius for all survivors, and Nemesis looks like a baby perk. Zanshin is completely useless in my opinion, if you know maps well, you already know where pallets and windows are for the most part.

And that's what I personally think. I do admit that the majority of times an Oni performs better than Billy, but that to me is due to the simple fact that he is easier to master. Which gives the illusion to survivors after playing matches against both of them, that Oni is stronger. But that's the same logic as playing only versus baby Nurses at rank 15 and believing Wraith is the better killer. Billy is underrated imo. And playing against a good Billy is a scary experience. What are your thoughts on this?

hOnistly, Oni is superior because of just how strong blood fury is. It does take him a while to get his power, but when he does get it, it is very hard to deal with from survivors. It is also more flexible because you can easily down survivors with your power and use demon dash much better than Billy can.

I like to think that Billy has a weaker power than Oni, but better mobility. Billy always has access to mobility and can sometimes insta down, but it is much more situational to use your chainsaw in a chase. Oni on the other hand, can use his power much easier than billy can in loops and for mobility, but he has to choose when to activate blood fury.

I think Oni takes a lot more skill than people realize. His demon dash in some tiles can only hit survivors if you know how to glide along the walls well and have quick reactions. Then there is also his half second mind games. It is hard to explain, but when an Oni demon dashes to the left or right side of some sort of tile where the survivor is on a pallet, he has to commit to one side a little more than the other to be able to turn and hit the survivor when dashing. Like I said, it is easier to show than say, but this right here takes some really quick thinking when against good survivors.

Billy is definitely a good killer, not as good as he used to be, but he is still good. However Oni is just better and more consistent than Billy.

So you say I should give Oni more time and not get discouraged? As I play Billy quite a lot, I tried to give Oni a try and he felt much weaker to me, I have no idea why, maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm sorta playing him like Billy while also grinding for my power and so far I got 3 games with just 1 kill... which I am certain if I were Billy, the stats would look much more in my favor. But then again I admit, I'm not the best Oni, not mechanically wise as I struggle with that the least, but knowledge wise for sure. I still have hard time deciding when it is a good time to activate my power, to hook, to slug etc. Maybe I need to give him some more time.

I love billy but oni is just superior.

Also i hate the yamaoka family please remove them from this game and let's forget they ever existed yes? :(

Oni’s power is certainly way stronger than Billy’s but Oni’s power being limited is a factor needed to consider. Oni can struggle against survivors that play a safe play style dropping pallets early. We already know how tough it is for killers that are just M1 and Oni starts out like that.

Overall, I’d say Oni is stronger because his power is just so scary and he has way more control over his movement than Billy.

Blood fury is way better than the chainsaw. You can drift off objects and have much better control on acutally landing hits.

Oni is better mainly because he's helped by add-ons while Billy really doesn't anymore. Without things like Topknot it could be more debatable.

Both are noob stompers since a lot of survivors don't really know how to play against them.

As a Billy main I agree. I always tried Oni but always came back to Billy. I always find it easier to use your power to down a survivor. Don't need to really manage it. While Oni would need to worry of his power can work at a loop because he can't waste it. While yes Oni is better against casuals. Under the prime situation with good survivors who will deny Oni's power. Hillbilly outperforms.

Sorry to bursts some bubbles but. Oni can get his power denied so hard by survivors pre-throwing pallets and not getting a hit off,

Whereas Billy can get his power off the bat and isn't restricted compare to Oni, Even with the Overheat, you can run Lopros + Engravings and do alot better with billyboi,

Oni barely comes close to Billy imho..
