Devs how am I supposed to play your game?
Hello there!
I am confused.
How am I supposed to play the game as a killer?
If I go doctor with Distressing, Unnerving Presence, Thrill of the Hunt and BBQ and just focus to hook every survivor once, not tunneling and not camping. And the rest of the game just try to maximize my BP by kicking pallets and gens, I end up easily with 50k-70k BP and lose rank because I didn't kill enough survivors. What's actually a good thing! Lower rank=less stressful games and more fun.
The only way I end up killing survivors is, when they are throwing themselves at me.
But if I go full tryhard and go for a 4k I end up with 25k-35k BP and rank up. But this is so more stressful and less rewarding.
BP gives me more new and shiny stuff to play with and progress inside the game and on the other hand, ranking up makes everything just more difficult and stressful.
Even the survivors are more happy if I just play easy for the BP. They all get hooked but not camped, tunneled or killed. They are happy to escape and having a fun.
So please tell me, what am I supposed to do inside your game?
The rewards are contradicting and confusing to me.

Rank at this point is just a way to see how much of a masochist you are.

Why are you running Thrill of the Hunt with no other hex perks? That's a waste of a perk slot and is putting you at a disadvantage.
I don't understand why you think hooking 4 survivors once before actually playing is a good idea. You need to take survivors out of the game. Not necessarily tunnel, but don't straight up ignore survivors you've already hooked so you can get another BBQ token. By playing this way you're giving the 3 other survivors a massive amount of time to work on gens and that's why you're losing/depipping.

Thrill of the Hunt gives more BP during a chase and informs me, when a survivor is at a totem.
Depiping is not bad. It makes your game less stressful and more enjoyable.2 -

But TotH needs some buffs. The bonus points are negligible.3 -

The rewards are contradicting and confusing to me.What is more important to you rank or BP? The more games you play the better your chance of hitting Rank . You don't get a season reward or any recognition. If you are enjoying the game not having to camp, tunnel and go tryhard as you stated and still score massive points to level characters i don't see the problem. If you have got to rank 1 that should be enough for you. If i were you play the way that makes you happy and continues to make you enjoy the game. Enough of us play the opposite way and seem miserable for it.

The grind on Dead By Daylight is crazy. I would rather care about BP than my rank.6

Just play for fun. Sometimes I screw around the whole match practicing blinks or trying to get a daily on a killer i never play.
Sometimes I play hard and try to 4k. It honestly doesn't matter,as long as you aren't violating ToS.

The rewards are contradicting and confusing to me.Do whatever you want as long as you do follow the rules (I mean rules by devs, not the imaginary rulebook of some players).

If you go for BP then set your goal to be a safety pip. Luckily in patch 2.3.0 we will get a bronze Devout for hooking all survivors once (which is an objective for Killers with BBQ) so we can go for safer BP focused games without risking rank.1

This is my primary issue with DbD on the killer side. Let's ignore 4K. Let's say we want 2K and a decent amount of BPs. It's not that it's impossible but it's so stressful that the game just isn't fun. At least during the game itself. At the end of it all you might be like "Well, at least I got 3k and 30k BP..." but the game itself just wasn't fun. And that's what's pushing me away from doing anything but the dailies, by the time I'm done this I feel I just need to walk away and play something else that is more enjoyable. This maybe the first time you and I agree. The game should be fun for all sides. It shouldn't be pip and have to play in a style that is no fun as oppose to play in a free fun way get blood points but not pipping. The game inherently needs to change. Both sides need to enjoy the experience. This is a game after all.

That's exactly what confuses me.
I agree and would recommend everyone to play like they enjoy to experience the game as they like it the most.
But when the devs are starting to penalise a certain playstyles with BP reduction to reinforce a certain behavior. I am asking, if the playstyle, that rewards me with the most Points is the behavior they like to reinforce and reward, why is it so, that you lose rank if you play, like the devs want you to play.
That is what I don't understand.
So please @not_Queen and @Patricia help me and everybody out.0 -
Well, the devs answered the question in the lore stream on Thursday.
The entity rewards the player with blood points.
The more you please the entity, you will get more BP.
So playing for maximised BP is the game played as intended. I still don't get it why you can derank, despite having a lot of BP made during a game but didn't killed them all.
If only kills rewards you with a rank you end up with tunneling and camping, as well as hook farming and time wasting for survivors.0 -

The rewards are contradicting and confusing to me.You can play the game being nice and still get a lot of BP and 3-4 k on high ranks, but you need to be a pretty good killer and know when to let them go and how many of them you can let go and for how long so you dont lose the game, and also needs to know when to pump pressure.

As long as it's within the rules, play however you want. If your way of playing nets you more BP than the "official" way which gives you rank, go for BP each and every time.

Play the game in a way that...
- Is within the GAME'S rules.
- Is the most fun to you.
