New coldwind rework just ruined the entire dbd lore. Also, please rename the game.
They actually think it's a good idea to make a daylight map in this game.
Even dead dawg saloon was a least failure because the sun there could at least be partially explained by a sunrise or a sunset, so it's kinda stuck in between so it was close, but never actually started. Just like death for survivors.
Dear "Dead by DAYLIGHT" developers, would you mind answering a few questions?
SINCE WHEN ENTITY STOPPED BEING HURT BY LIGHT?
since when killers, who get literal burns from weak flashlights stopped being afraid of broad daylight?
WHY DID YOU FEEL LIKE IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA OF KILLING THE IRONY OF "DEAD BY DAYLIGHT" BY ADDING A MAP WHERE THERE IS DAYLIGHT?
CAN SURVIVORS JUST DIE PERMANENTLY WHENEVER THEY DIE ON THIS MAP?
CAN YOU JUST RENAME THIS GAME INTO SOMETHING LIKE "CIRCUS OF PAIN" ? IT WOULD BE WAY MORE LORE ACCURATE THAN WHAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE NOW?
Delete the sun from this map.
Make it dark.
Stop ruining the last pieces of consistency in an already ruined lore.
Or just say ######### it and start adding teletubbies as killers, it wouldn't do any worse at this point anyway.

The light on maps is not actual light (like campfire is cold to the touch but can burn offerings), while the flashlights are.
34 -
Yeah, sure, good excuse.
1 -
The things people will complain about...
129 -
Not a first time,
13 -
but you have no problems with glenvale?
31 -
The realms are the entity so its not a real sunlight.
Its just an illusion.Probably to give the survivors more hope thinking that this will be their last stay in that hell hole.
Also, do people really get butthurt over a map reowrk lol?
62 -
I think you need to take some time off and do something else if you're this worked up about the sun...
11 -
Yeah, I will complain about things that ruin the lore.
The entity was stated to be afraid of light and even mere light sources are hurtful to it, so they are for the killers who are imbued with Entity's power.
That's the reason all maps are set in the night.
Creating a map set in the day means saying huge ######### you to all previous entries of the lore about the entity. "It was afraid of light and it literally destroys it", whoops, not anymore.
I'm not even talking about the fact that killer will calmly walk under the sun, but get their eyes burnt when survivors shine with their flashlights, which beam won't be even noticeable.
1 -
Ormond.
Grave of Glenvale.
27 -
Good one.
6 -
One is still set in night, just in the light of moon, the other is set in between (which I also always found very wrong, but could partially deal with it, as it was never really a day. It was almost a day and it made up a good metaphor). This map is completely different story. Warm and bright light, I'm 99% sure there would even be sun.
1 -
I am pretty damn sure Ormond isn't set at night, but I can't remember.
Alright.
The Entity controls every single aspect of it's realms. The campfire doesn't produce heat, nor do any of the random other fires throughout the realms.
The Entity makes the killers get harmed by the flashlights. It's all part of the game which is integral to the games lore. The Entity is harmed and fears real light, not light is has constructed. If the Entity feared all light, flashlights would not exist. Neither would the lights on the generators, nor the various flickering lights in the indoor maps.
18 -
Are you upset over the sun being more involved in the story? If anything the sun is a symbol of a better tomorrow. Give survivors hope and take it away from them.
17 -
This is the Entity's realm. Why the hell would it make something that can hurt it directly?
It's most likely a fake sun, this can also be applied to Dead Dawg's sun.
6 -
You seem pretty wound up. Take some time off. Have some relaxing jasmine tea. This is nothing to get worked up about.
9 -
No, if anything we need more maps that aren't dark af. This is much welcomed change and brings further variety to DBD. I can finally enjoy something about corn maps.
7 -
Dead by Daylight = You are dead by the time daylight rises - This means that you can die in the morning or technically daytime, thus the game still makes sense with the title "Dead by daylight". This means that the name of the game still makes sense and fits.
10 -

Except it does fear the light of flashlights which are beyond Entity's control and the reason killers are hurt by the light is because they have power of the entity in them. The only reason flashlights don't do anything to the entity in trials is because bhvr didn't put effort into making it.

I can too make ######### words plays to justify daylight map in a game where daylight shouldn't be by definition, but I'd be just justifying ruined lore in that case.
0 -
Dude, Let's wait til the map gets released I HIGHLY doubt coldwind being this bright Let's just wait And don't get pissed off over something THIS small lmao
1 -
What's wrong with daylight in a horror game? In the daytime in horror is usually seen as safe, but now it won't be. Is this bad?
4 -
I guess screenshots are actually showing really bright night.
I hope nobody would mind warm and bright light which usually characterises the day.
1 -
Judging by the long shadows and the pretty dark sky, Coldwind will still not be set at broad daylight but sunrise/sunset just like Glenvale.
also as already mentioned multiple times, the realms are literally completely created by the Entity from the memory’s of the killers.. it’s not like the trials are happening on actual earth.
5 -
Show me where the lore says that. I have not seen a single thing that mentions the flashlights being beyond the Entity's control.
I have no idea why you're so incredibly angry over something as trivial as the amount of light in a map. The lore has been backed up upon way more than this.
7 -
Thx for that. It was a good laught reading this. xD
10 -
Also, do people really get butthurt over a map reowrk lol?
I guess Trapper mains because pretty much all map reworks made him even weaker
5 -
Don't substitute the concepts please.
In any other game daylight wouldn't be an issue.
But in game where one of core things is that the day NEVER starts this is a huge issue and people ignoring it just don't care about the lore.
1 -
Well this was a damn rollercoaster reading.
OP, I suggest you take a break from many things and lay in the sunlight, you seem really, really wound up. Also, maybe you'll hate it less.
11 -
i like this ligihting change blendettes wond be souch a pian in butt on bright maps
4 -
To be fair, this is Billy's home map. One of his perks being lightborn, which makes it the most lore friendly map to have bright lighting on. Billy is used to the light, unlike other killers and can teach them how to be like him lore wise.
7 -
Isn't the lore constantly expanding and growing though? I really don't think that THIS is something to freak out over.
5 -
He should probably sit down with a kind stranger and have a nice chat, and have some nice relaxing, delicious, jasmine tea.
6 -
(Laughs in game)
1 -
It is a bait

I'd like to hear arguments for how the maps being significantly brighter makes sense in a horror game. Lack of information, especially visually, creates a feeling of fear and suspense, even when the killer isn't close. Seeing the killer all the way across the map due to the brightness and lack of fog removes any doubt for when its safe to traverse the map or work on objectives. And as the OP pointed out earlier, flashlight blinds will look incredibly silly in daylight.
0 -
I agree.
3 -
Feel free to be the 1% of players who cares about lore, no problem here, however, lore should never take priority over gameplay (there are edge-cases, as usual, but a match-based multiplayer action game objectively does not fit into this category). As long as it looks better and plays better, it's a good change.

You clearly never saw Chainsaw Massacre to say that, its one of the most terrifying movie and it happen in day, with a big sun.
4 -
did you read the post or you just looked it through?
I don't care whether it is scary or not.
I'm disappointed because they destroyed the entire "entity fear bright light" concept and everything it meant. It would be ridiculous to get blinded by a flashlight in the light of a freaking sun.
1 -
Ormond is a daytime map. Granted it's cloudy and snowing but it's still daytime.
2 -
You know that the realms are just copies? and the sun isnt really the sun? same with the corn you cant eat it etc etc...
2 -
You just know nothing about horror 😂 you are just complaining for nothing dude
2 -
i literally explained you the reasoning behind my rant and you still don't understand it. I can't believe there can be people like this, you must be trolling.
0 -
Are we seriously complaining about the light now?
bruh
4 -
The one is who is trolling is clearly you, thats my last comment, I will not feed you more.
Have a nice day.
2 -
Now that we've had this conversation, maybe we can have a Chicken Little moment.
for every gen that gets done, a piece of the sky falls out and reveals a portion of the dark sinister skybox.
2 -
I think they want an atmosphere a la Texas Chainsaw Massacre (since Billy is shamelessy inspired by it). At first I wasn't a big fan, but after thinking about it it would make the game feel more varied to have each map in a different time of the day/night.
Also, the thing about the Entity fearing light is pure speculation by the community, nothing official mention anything about it. Killers get blinded by flashlights because their eyes are adapted to the darkness, mechanic which I agree would be a little ruined by a daylight map.
5 -
SINCE WHEN ENTITY STOPPED BEING HURT BY LIGHT?
you mean the light the entity itself creates? since forever.
SINCE WHEN KILLERS, WHO GET LITERAL BURNS FROM WEAK FLASHLIGHTS STOPPED BEING AFRAID OF BROAD DAYLIGHT?
being in the light and looking directly at a light source are not the same thing.
the killers aren't vampires. why would they care if the sun is up or not?
WHY DID YOU FEEL LIKE IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA OF KILLING THE IRONY OF "DEAD BY DAYLIGHT" BY ADDING A MAP WHERE THERE IS DAYLIGHT?
did you forget that the salloom is a map midway through your rant? or ormond?
and more importantly, that's not the actual sun, it's just the entity. it isn't daylight, because once in the entity realm, the day never comes again. only a fake light to give the survivors a bit of hope. which is, very in tune to what the entity does.
CAN SURVIVORS JUST DIE PERMANENTLY WHENEVER THEY DIE ON THIS MAP?
death isn't an escape
ah... the silly rants people go into for no reason...
5 -
try having a high-powered flash beam shone directly into your eyes and see how that feels
there's literally a campfire, what are you talking about?
did the entity not make them campfire or...?
2 -
If you don't like THIS, you REALLY won't like the fact that they had an offering to make maps SUPER BRIGHT by default XD I'm talking a sunny day XD
