Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

PC, PS4, Xbox. Which gives a better DBD experience?

Now I've played Dead by Daylight on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Prestige'd both all killers and survivors on all of them. And I can now give a definite opinion on which gives the better experience. Now I'm going to breakdown my review in sections starting with FPS.

Frame Rate: Now some people are already going to agree with me on this. The main difference between console and PC is the FPS. On PS4 and Xbox One I've had many games where frame rate either cost me a strike as a killer or lagged me back behind a window as a survivor. As a killer your going to have a rough time playing on console because of frame rate. I've notice this issue effects killers more than survivors so there's that. Now if you play using a Xbox one X, you'll notice a slight difference. Admittedly, it'll be better but you'll still have some frame rate issues. Some maps like Red Forest because of the rain makes even more frame rate for the killer. Playing Doctor (who is my favorite) receives even more frame rate. Playing Doctor on Red Forest is pretty hard too. On PlayStation it varies. I've had games where the frame rate is terrible as killer and survivor and games where it's good for survivors. Unfortunately, if your a killer main on console it's going to be rough. For survivors it'll almost be just as good as playing on PC. ALMOST. The number one thing you have to worry about playing survivor on console is bad connection.

Difficulty: The major thing I noticed playing on different platforms is the difficulty. What do I mean by difficulty? I mean how good people are playing on one platform compared to the other. This also goes into 360-ing. On console, it easier to 360 but it's not as effective. By effective I mean how well you can 360. With a mouse you can 360 at a much faster speed than you can on console. Which means you'll the most difficult survivors on high rank PC. But that doesn't make PC the hardest difficulty. One thing I've noticed on Xbox is the constant amount of SWF's that are around the medium to higher ranks. Sure there's a high amount on PC too, but on Xbox there are constant amounts of SWF's. Every game ranking up on Xbox I saw that SWF's finding my hexes and working on gens together. At first I thought of it as luck for them. But then I noticed it again and again and again. Because of this I'd say you'll have a tough time once you get to rank 10 as a killer on Xbox. On PS4 it varies. I've had extremely easy games facing rank one killers and survivors and extremely challenging games facing rank one killers and survivors. It felt easier ranking up on PS4 than Xbox. But that doesn't mean PS4 is the easiest. Some of the killers on PS4 are actually pretty good. Granted they were around ranks 10-15 but I still have to say I was impressed on how well they chased me and caught me. But once you team up with a SWF on PS4 it'll be easy. Overall here's what I'll rank the difficulty.
PS4: Decent Challenge once you get to the higher ranks as a survivor but will always be a challenge as killer against rank ones.
Xbox One: Get ready to face a lot of SWF's.
PC: Harder than console but easier as survivor.

Glitches : I was going to put this in Frame rate but I feel this needs a separate category. By glitches I mean the game messing up not due to lag, survivors able to abuse the map mechanics and problems that cost survivors and killers wins. On PC there are a lot of game glitches compared to Consoles. Wither it come to textures not loading properly or chests spawning behind unreachable spots, I've notice this happens more often on PC than console. HOWEVER, this only happens 5% of the time per game on PC. On console it happens 1% of the time per game. This could be just luck of the draw though. Now as for survivors abusing map mechanics no one does it more than PC survivors. The reason why this happens more on PC compared to console is because it's easier for survivors to do it on PC. On console, survivors have a harder time trying to get to game breaking spots because it's harder to use a controller to get to that spot. With a mouse you have pin point accuracy, so you know how to run into that spot. But mainly I've just noticed more people do this on PC. Now hacking sort of goes into this category. I've never seen a hacker on Xbox or PS4. However I've caught 5 or more on PC. I believe the main reason for this is because it's easy to mod hacks on PC than console.

Toxicity: Yay....Dead by Daylight does have a problem with toxicity. Heck there most likely one in the last post you read. On different platforms it doesn't change. However I've notice on Xbox almost every game when you sacrifice a survivor they rage message you that either you were tunneling them (even though you have save the best for last and you killed them last) that you were camping them (even though you left and 3 seconds later someone immediately unhooks them) and my favorite, that I'm a trash killer (even though I sacrificed the entire team before they can finish one gen....as Freddy. True story.) On Xbox you will get a lot of toxic messages from survivors. Barley none from killers. On PC, you'll meet toxic people and EXTREMELY toxic people. Not as much messaging as Xbox though. On PS4 it's a little better in terms of toxicity. I've met some pretty cool survivors and killers playing on PS.

Stronger killers on different Platforms?: Now what I mean by this is how one killer can be better on console than another on PC. A good example of this is the Hag. Now I've played current Hag on every platform and can say that it's tougher playing Hag on console compared to PC. Why? This sort of goes back to the first category. Frame rate. Once a survivors sets off a trap and you teleport to it, you'll immediately be hit with a frame rate issues for 3 seconds. Causing you to miss the free hit. On PC, it's much more smoother. On PC I'd say she's mid tier and on console she's low tier. It sucks that a killer's effectiveness can be effect be something like Frame rate. Another good example is Wraith. Wraith is mid-low tier all round. However the main problem is uncloaking hits. On PC, you have more accuracy to hit survivors after uncloaking because of the mouse. But with the controller you can sometimes overturn to try and hit some one. Now the only killer I can say is stronger on console than PC is (drumroll) Doctor. Yes, the Doctor is stronger on console than PC. Commenter: But wait didn't you say that Doctor has more frame rate on console than PC. Me: Yes, now leave. Doctor does have some problems with frame rate when it comes to performing on console but that doesn't effect his overall strength on console. One thing I've noticed is that on console, it's MUCH harder to hit random doctor skill checks because survivors start to receive some of your frame rate once a random placed skill check appears. Making them fail it majority of the time. However, rank 1-3 survivors can still slightly counter this by being prepared. Doctor ruins survivors early rank on console. It's a lot of fun especially with unnerving presence.

Summary: Overall I'd say it's worth it to play Dead by Daylight on PC, Xbox and PS4. Now originally, when I first played Dead by Daylight, it was on Xbox One. One of my friends bought me Dead by Daylight for PC for my birthday. A couple months later I bought it on PS4. I wanted to experiment what playing Dead by Daylight on different platforms. On console you're going to have a rough time as killer mainly because of frame rate, but face less challenging survivors early on.

PC: Smoother game play as survivor and killer. More difficult at higher ranks. Watch out for toxic players.

Xbox One: Better game play on Xbox One X. Fun to play with friends. Toxic messaging survivors = Notifications off. Frame rate issues as killer.

PlayStation 4: Slightly friendlier community. Better experience ranking up. Major frame rate issues for killers and some issues for survivors.

Agree with this list? Let everyone know below.

Ehm isnt PS4 where ochido is doing his work?

One of the biggest difference between platforms is that the nurse and huntress are not (mostly not) played due to low fps and controller aim. This makes the game significantly easier for survivors on consoles.

Also you ahve to keep in mind that the console community is not as old as the PC one and is still learning (especially PS4 since that free ps+ thing)

Only if there was higher controller sensitivity, playing on PS4 would be more fun. Not that it isn't. But it would just enhance the experience.

Pretty sure he's on PC unless something has changed since Tru3Ta1ent has played him on occasion.

PC has an edge naturally since being able to use a mouse is far more accurate than the Xbox or Ps4 controller. Granted both survivors and killers will have a mouse so it evens out, but the point stands.

I love playing it on ps4 as its fun to play for me I've made friends heck I have 3-4 that are rank1 survivors and killers and we play swf sometimes with noobs and low ranks so we can get better without worrying (like we learn how to navigate maps how to avoid trap spots that u die in and we usually escape as were getting better * plus helps to try out new combos (like how if you mix the purple sharpening stone and the pink every 30 seconds a trap sets itself add-ons' together survivors down faster and you can guard your totems easier)

That grind is insane. Im not sure about PS4 having the friendlier community but i also didn't play in the other two so i will take your word for it.

I play Huntress on Xbox and it's mostly the map that causes the problem for me, and UE. It's SOOOO easy to get around a Huntress with UE, and some maps like Haddonfield are unplayable due to FPS issues. No doubt she would be better after optimization but if you get the right maps you can do work with her.

Ochido was perma hardware banned on PC, thats why he immigrated to PS4 where the devs still have no possibility to bann players.

It doesnt matter whether you use m/K or controller for survivor, there are actually some survivors that play with controller on PC (even marth does that btw), so controller is basically a killer-only disadvantage

Ochido isn’t even that good he plays against noobs and gets wrecked by his own rank when he plays them and says “killer OP nerf now”

As someone whose been maining killer on ps4 since the first free weekend, I wanted to say a few words about my experience.

First, I will say PS4 was actually QUITE a toxic community in this game for a bit, at least towards killers. I've had times where survivors who lost would start a message group harrasing me with their buddies, then after I blocked everyone in that group, they have another friend who wasn't even in the game put me in another one, continuing for weeks at a time. Overall at this point in the community lifetime, It is much less toxic than it was, say 6 months ago.

As far as frame rate difficulties go, I agree, they affect doctor the worst, tbh the crame rate issues never hindered me too much as a killer, and I win the Majority of my games. I do have to disagree with the hag. Comment as well, I've played great teams in both rank matches and KYF, it is possible to get almost instant hits from teleport. But I'd say using the jerk of the camera angle is more important than ever for those times when the ITH isn't possible.

Altogether though, absolutely disagree with hag even being  mid tier on console, The results I've gotten with her at high ranks are almost unbeliveable at times. Again, I think it's a matter of how well you set traps, and I also think it's best to get M and A on her, because mind games WITH traps are alot more effective as well.

Also nurse is more difficult I think, but she can still dominate like she does on PC, same goes for Huntress. I had a random match against Marth88 a few months ago, and let me say he didnt seem that bothered by the switchover

Nobody claimed that he is good. Its enough to bully low rank killers though
