what happens when you give someone props?

I've run in to the odd match here and there where someone just deserves a props report.. but do they affect anything for that person? What does it actually do? Just curious..

    You never are told of what it does nor is the person alerted of it

    Apparently they keep track of it but do absolutely nothing with it

    XD, kinda wish atleast they would be alerted of it if nothing else.. especially with no way to message crossplayers. Enjoying the answers though, ty all.
