Deranked even though I escaped
Howdy y'all.
I got a question and was hoping for an explation.
I just got to rank 8 and started a new game. We went against the plague. I spent the game doing gens, opening a chest, not much cleansing since we didn't want to give her red vomit.
I ended up escaping but it showed I deranked and I really don't understand why. I kinda want to assume its a bug issue, but if not someone let me know why I deranked : , )

If you didn't get chased, you pretty much won't pip. Were you not getting chased or save people off hook? That could be why. Those two are the biggest things to pip - chases and altruism.

I did get chased by them quiet a bit. i ended up getting hooked twice and downed three times, i got picked up and managed to escape. And I did unhook people

Did you escape through the door or through hatch?
If it was through the door then you must have deranekd for lack of Boldness and Altruism. If you didn't manage to actually escape the killer during chases and didn't unhook and heal other survivors then you barely get any points. It's pretty hard for survivors to get 2 pips in high rank.
I'm surprised though that you got a -1, usually just escaping gets your score to 0.

It all depends on what the emblems showed. If you farmed people and they were downed before you got the safe unhook, losing chases too quickly, and other random stuff can cause it.
If you had bronze evader or benevolence, for example, those tend to depip you. Not really sure. :/

Kill/Escape is not the main goal, you can still get derank with 4K as Killer or can still derank when you escaped. You need pippo pippos which can be obtain by what the game tells you to do as objectives.

Probably not enough altruism points to get an emblem. Look up how the emblems work, (i only have a few seconds before my game starts)

It's not just the things you do. Some things that you don't do(such as for example unhooking a survivor but not doing it safely) can negatively affect which Emblem you get in a category.

There is a maximum amount of credit you get towards Pips for doing Generators. You also need to do a certain amount of Altruism and Chase... as well as Surviving to really max out Pips. In short, the game doesn't think you did enough.

Hello hello and congrats on reaching purple ranks! Survivors have to put as much into the team as possible to pip, so doing gens is great but healing/protecting teammates is essential, and getting chased or cleansing totems is necessary for helping distract for the team and getting the ball rolling on hooks and heals. No shame in getting hooked either, I'm a red rank and I die most matches but do what I can for the team and usually safety pip or go up a few. Good luck in your next matches and I hope this helps :)!

I recommend checking out the DBD wiki regarding rank and emblems to see what emblems you need to pip based on your rank as well as breakdown of what goes into each emblem.
