Gyro aiming on Steam

So I am playing with a Switch Pro Controller and always thought gyro aiming like on the Switch in certain games (Zelda: BotW, Splatoon2) would be pretty cool! But I thought Steam would not support gyro aiming.

Well, turns out in the controller configuration you can actually activate the gyro function on Steam!

Now I am trying to configure it, but I don’t really know how.

Ideally, you would choose the mouse function for the gyro and you can move your camera just like you would with your mouse. And this works actually pretty damn good! But the game start to stutter as soon as you use any controller button because it switches between controller input and M&K input. And during gameplay that’s sadly not an option.

Does anyone know if there is a working solution for gyro aiming in DbD? I tried some settings randomly but it didn’t end up that smooth and maybe someone else figured out something or knows how to get the settings right from other games?

I believe there's a "mouse joystick" option. Basically it behaves like a mouse but uses gamepad inputs. You should be able to select that option and then crank the sensitivity in-game all the way up and it should feel ok. If not then I'm not sure. Also turn off acceleration if you haven't

Either that or make all your controller input "mouse & keyboard" input (IDK if that's possible on Steam).

    Thank you so much!

i actually tried that and started the tutorial and it moved super crappy (little movement and it moved completely up/down). After that I created this thread.

but I tried again and now it worked! (?)

Will try tomorrow in an actual match. Tutorial seems very off, the surv models don’t even move their heads etc. But I guess gyro aiming should behave the same :)

Just an update if anyone is interested:

option mouse joystick works like a charm.

i am still using the right analog stick to look around but fine tuning with the gyro aim. Only played survivor yet though, still gotta try killer and even flashlight aiming, but the overall flow of the game is not interrupted and I feel like the movement I way smoother.

I want to try it, I already sometimes use ps4 controller in my left hand and mouse in my right which I'm not sure I'd recommend. A friend of mine sent me some wall of text this morning about how she'd been pwning noobs in fps games using one but she's a weirdo who does things like play MGS on european extreme

I would definitely recommend that for you then.

if you are using controller plus mouse every time you move the mouse the game switches between the two input methods which at least for resulted in stuttering. That is completely gone now!
