I think DBD may be picking itself back up again.
Now I know we have also lost players, but those are very minor losses, we just got 3701 players, just minus that by 587 and we still have 3114 people who stayed after April.
i can tell devs are working to clean up the game, and I’ve seen their new rework of the mental hospital and Thompson house, and they are amazing! Doctor rework is amazing too! The newest collection skins make me so happy just cus they look creepy and well detailed.
Also with the new upcoming RE chapter, I believe our charts will go up. Just like when pyramid head was released.
I think our game is getting picked up again, and now devs, I’m sorry for criticizing the whole animation update, but I thank you, for your work.
Edit: I don’t mean player count, I mean quality of game, the devs are listening a bit more, and they are making good changes now.

Picking itself up? I think the game was never "down" to begin with.
Games loses players everyday. And they get new players too.

DBD is only growing for years now. It didn't go downhill for years.

Honestly, before Blight I was almost done with this game, then Twins and Trickster happened.
I still think Twins are the worst chapter ever released (I'm including Legion) but after the changes to Trickster I'm having great fun as him.
Outside of breakable walls continuing to make me wonder why they exist and some of the maps being too dark, the map reworks look fantastic.
Good balance changes and QoL changes like hooks, took a while but they're here.
I'm hopeful for the future of this game again but I'm not getting too hyped yet.
I don't think he's talking about playercount, more quality of the game.
I see most people agree that dbd hit its peak quality and fun-wise in 2019, it's all been sorta downhill from there from a gameplay perspective. I.E. New killers just mostly being hybrids/New perks being mostly unoriginal, etc. I know a lot of players (3-4 year players) who have left after the Chains of Hate or Silent Hill chapter and aren't interested in returning.
The art and sound design is better than ever but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired.

I didn’t mean to much player count. More quality. The twins chapter kinda sucked IMO and so has many other people said. Tricksters chapter was cool and fun, but the power was barely unique. Then they fixed it, they started listening to us like never before.

Agreed, and with a few more big bug fix patches, we would become a very good game, maybe they should make a killer/chapter concept contest and they use the winners concept, since DBD forums have a bit of unique concepts.

If you're looking at it on a week-by-week or month-by-month basis then sure, there are times where it goes down hard and up hard.
In the bigger picture, it's more popular than every before, and the average amount of players of today are the highest peaks years ago.

Its stupid but I saw the dating site and thought you meant they were offering special services lol 😆

I honestly think DbD is the only game I've ever seen in my entire life that instead of dying out with time it actually steadily grows bigger and bigger.

Hmmmm lol

Oh, I see.
And yes, I agree with you. DBD 2019 was much more fun than it currently is.

How did we lose 587.5 players in thirty days?
Wait, whats the 0.5?

In terms of gameplay being stale, I agree they need to do more than just new killers and perks - I really think they could do with adding a few new game modes to spice things up. Even things like a 2 v 8 mode, while not ground-breaking would help to maintain interest. I've only been playing a few months and I noticed that even though I still play most days, once I'd completed a tome challenges things started to get stale and I'm glad there's a new tome starting tomorrow.
Revised character models and updated maps are great, don't get me wrong - but they don't impact the core gameplay at all so are not a substitute for innovation.

you do realize that if you looked back 1 more month you would see a HUMONGOUS drop in players, the gain of 3k doesn't even come close to getting the game back to what it was last summer.

You can't look at the amount of people playing and use that alone to determine if the game is healthy. For all we know those could mostly be new players getting hooked from a license killer release. It could be someone logging on to collect a login award or unlock their daily ritual then log off. A person who literally turns on the game and shuts it off is considered "active". We all know this game is brutal to new comers and has a terrible retention rate. If your attracting a lot of people and your hemorrhaging them just as fast, I wouldn't call that healthy. I doubt the game will die anytime soon. People have been saying that for years but I wouldn't call bouncing back. Every time the devs do something right they do a dozen things wrong.

I think the reason Home Sweet Home felt so fresh to me (although that game also has a whole LOAD of issues when you look at it) is because of the new ways of playing the game.
Having to scavenge for parts before doing "gens" multiple chase obstacles that aren't just pallets and vaults, the ability to trick and trap/fight the killer. Not saying I want that specifically in dbd but I would like new mechanics that aren't killer exclusive.
Breakable walls are the only new non-killer specific mechanic they've added in the last few years bar EGC (which was a bandaid fix) and all they are is pre dropped pallets.

I’m predicting that DBD will enter a new ‘golden’ era when the Resident Evil chapter comes out. There’s a lot of hype for it, especially if we get multiple survivors.
