To Resident Evil Fans
For the killers, you guys keep saying Mister X and Nemesis, but as someone who hasn't played the franchise other than vague memories of playing Revelations with my older brother when I was younger and watching people play 7, I really feel like Jack would be a better killer.
With that context in mind, for me personally, from an outsides perspective, I don't think either killer are very good since from what I know, they're basically just bad guys created by buy guys to do bad things without any personality or motives of their own and seem to be too big to fit in as killers (which if that's the case, the size reduction would probably look weird).
On the other hand, Jack is above average but still small enough to fit properly, with his mutation opening endless gates to his power, and I'd feel it'd be amazing if they got the voice actor to say some lines, (even cooler if his mori was just saying "welcome to the family son" before knocking their ######### out). Is it just because of nostalgia or there something else I'm missing. Also I don't think it should be any of the characters from 8 because the game isn't even out yet.

I agree Jack would be the ideal, something for both fans of the old games and newm however people have gotten crazy over statements like yours ( No offense,I absolutely whole heartedly agree.) Its just people really, really want Nemesis without giving it a second thought

I agree, Jack would work better in this game than Mr. X or Nemesis would.
I feel like Jack or any character from RE8 should be the killer and Chris/Jill/Claire/Leon should be the survivors. That way both modern and older fans of RE get something.
1 -
I agree with this but ever one wants it to be about the old games, because 'its more iconic'. RE is not about the old games or the new games, its about the franchise as a whole
2 -
I very much get that, I understand that the characters are nostalgic and iconic and I having nothing against people who want them in the game. My problem being is that the characters themselves seemed to be designed as walls that chase you, There's not much you can do with character like that. From what I've seen gameplay wise the characters are too large to be added into the game, have no personality of their own (which I can see being used for Terminator but also that movie expressed just why that's terrifying and I don't know if RE took the same approach), and overall don't seem to have anything that could be used ability wise (They both just punch right, and one of them has a rocket launcher).
I was just looking for someone to explain why they'd be superior.

The only answer you will remotely get goes along so,ething like this "they are bad ass, they are Iconic, they are Nemesis, or Mr.X. Anyone else for the title of killer is a big no no". ( this is just satire and not actually true ) and people get very defensive about the subject. Honestly I actually watched a video of a guy here on the forums read topics. He read QwQws opinion on wanting Jack Baker in it, and how he would be slightly disappointed if it wasn't Jack Baker. The guy said " I think you need to get a grip, not everyone is going to get what they, alright, just let it be Nemesis or Mr.X who cares." I was grinding my teeth after reading that.

Truth be told, it is beginning to wear on me a little that the primary reason I see people say they want Mr. X/Nemesis isn't because of their lore or overall character, but rather that they're "iconic".
3 -
Mr.X honestly I would be fine with but, yeah people just are obsessed over them and disregarding what the lore behind them. I have a bad feeling if Nemesis is the killer, I have very little doubt, people are gonna have one helluva wake up call, and will riot to change him. And I'll be sitting back, drinking Baja blast, shaking my head, saying " I told ya'll, I told ya'll it would be a bad idea."

People want Nemesis because he's iconic. People want Mr. X because of memes. If this DLC were coming out 3 years ago there would be more people suggesting Alexia Ashford or James Marcus as the killer than Mr. X.
People want Jack Baker because he's a good character, but being a good character doesn't necessarily make one a good playable character in DbD.
5 -
I got a challenge for you... give me a reason to believe that Nemesis would work in DBD without saying the word iconic, or saying that people really want him.
2 -
I hope for a killer from RE 8: Village. Jack and his family are cool but not distinct enough IMO. I guess they would give the game a hillbilly family vibe it they did a legion thing and did all the members! :D I'd dig that.
Nemesis and Mister X are not gonna fit as well as people wish though. The size reduction would make them all feel odd.

He has a wide variety of powers which allows them to do whatever they want with him while still feeling true to the character, while also producing a powerset that feels like it belongs exclusively to that character and couldn't be done with any other license or even as an original character. With someone like Jack they'd have to make up a new power wholesale and say that Mold did it, but at that point it no longer feels like Jack, because that's not how he acted or felt in his original game. In his original game Jack is noteworthy for searching for you in the house and killing you in rather conventional ways. His only real power was being invincible but that's true of everyone in DbD. Nemesis has had so many appearances that there are probably at least half a dozen clear powers they could go with, and if they kept it to the original you'd still have 2 or 3. And Nemesis has just enough personality to be conveyed in DbD without watering that personality down.
You could make Jack work, gameplay wise, but it wouldn't feel anything like the Jack from RE7, and he wouldn't have the personality either because BHVR is very stingy on speech.

Doesn't have to be humanoid, plenty of creatures to chose from.

I feel like a Licker/Hunter/other vaguely humanoid BOW would be a good choice too. I'm not opposed to Jack as the killer, he would fit well and give better variety for power, plus his various gardening tools give variety of weapon choice.
Ideally they should Silent Hill this chapter, Resident Evil has had various "Eras" over the years from Survival Horror or "the classics" to the "Action Trilogy" with 4-6 to the revival era with 7 and potentially 8, they should take the killer from one era, map from another, and survivor/s from the third. Fans of whichever era gets the map will probably the most disappointed but there's always the possibility of legendary skins for killer or survivor/s as a work around to please more people. They could also do what they've done with the Crypt TV skins or Robbie the Rabbit skins and give other characters RE outfits.
1 -
BHVR doesn't want to go through the headache of that. We wouldn't have even got Demogorgon if not for the money, but with Resident Evil there's no strict need to go for a creature like the Licker.

I don't really want Mr. X for the same reasons I don't want Nemesis, but I'd still take him over Neme, because at least he doesn't use a rocket launcher or flamethrower.

Nemesis was like two inches taller than Carlos in the original RE3. He can't have been any larger than Trapper. But he became an icon and people forgot that being smaller than previous Tyrants was the point, it made him more dangerous, not less. So then later appearances make him a giant because they feel that since he's the biggest deal he has to be, well, the biggest.
3 -
People want Nemesis because he's absolutely terrifying. Also Nemesis is 7'3, which isn't that much taller than Pyramid Head (who is 7 feet tall)
3 -
The problem with people saying such and such is iconic is that what's iconic to one person won't be to another. My first RE game was RE2 on the N64. To me Claire and Leon are the iconic survivor choices and William Birkin as the more iconic monster (Mr. X wasn't a big thing in the original RE2) I honestly never completely played through 3 until the remake so to me Nemesis is meh. The proto tyrant or leech monster from Ø are more iconic to me lol.

What headache? Almost every enemy in re results in a creature boss fight. If size restrictions are a factor, it will have to be someone that doesn't become a hunkering beast. The only bad guy I can think of that remains even close to human size after transformation is wesker.
Just personally if the killer is just a human form (not vary representational of re) it might be the first time I skip on a killer just for the Survivors

The headache of BHVR animating a creature that runs on four legs and has to someone transport people to hooks like this. The nightmare of making it work in gameplay. They could barely make the Twins work and the chapter came out a mess because of it.
2 -
Depends how long they've been working on the license, but still there are creatures/BOWs that walk upright.

I want Mr.x because Re2 and re3 were the first games of the franchise that i played, while Nemesis in the old games was terrifying I feel in love with X after playing the remake ( in my opinion nemesis was more annoying than scary) I enjoyed re7 but not as much as re2 and I would be sad if the killer wasn't either Nemesis or X, but I believe it's really unlikely to not be one of those two it will probably be a similar case to the silent Hill dlc.

The only problem I would have with Jack would be Lore wise. In Reality he's just a normal 50 year old man. the only reason he has any power at all is because of E-111 He even said that his family was normal until they were exposed and he really doesn't have an evil bone in his body.
3 -
Nemesis is just iconic resident evil for anyone that's grown up playing the games.
He's even that Iconic he made it into the movies lol. Most people that have been long time fans I'm sure wouldn't be angry if it wasn't him, however they would be very disappointed.
7 -
100% agree with that.
2 -
It's not even really Nemesis, but rather the Tyrant enemy type as a whole that's an excellent representation of Resident Evil. They appear super frequently throughout the series (Mr. X and Nemesis are both Tyrants, as are TALOS, Thanatos, and Bandersnatch, among others) and often get to function as final boss monsters.
Even though the newer games don't call them Tyrants anymore (the RE alphabet-viruses have moved well beyond "T"), more modern villains like Ustanak and even Jack Baker still fulfill the same role of relentlessly pursuing the protagonist(s) throughout the game. By the looks of things, Lady D or one of her cronies might be stepping up to the plate in RE8 too.
As far as RE has come over 25 years, the "Tyrant" lives on.
2 -
1 he probably the most recognizable character in re close to mr.x and g. Birkin. so good money
2 he has probably the most adjustable power of the tyrants between tentical whip rockets speed or one shots
3 jack is just a normal person corrupted by the infection with super human rengeration abilities so not very flexible in power wise maybe margrit. if not as a killer then a hag skin
4 nemmisis works for both older player with the og game and new re players with the remake.
5 lucas may be a trap baised killer. I have no idea 2hat his power would be but he is versatile in his traps so he would be best bet from re7
6 I cant rule out demetrius because they seems plausible as a killer idk if re will allow that tho

S.T.A.R.S.

If we do get Jack then I hope his mutation is involved and he gets some lines instead of just having him be a big, strong, silent guy with weapons.
2 -
As a resident evil fan, it would be a huge missed opportunity if they take the chapter from anything but the classic games.
In my opinion,
Its either going to be inspired from RE2, so Leon, Claire and Mr X (Tyrant)
Or RE3, Jill and Nemesis
Other characters could be legendary skins.

I could be wrong, but I really don't see them adding Jack as the killer. Mr X and Nemesis are way more iconic.
1 -
I personally want Mr X because he was absolutely terrifying, even more so in the remakes. Nemesis would be cool but they would have to remove the weapons and just use his tentacles; and he would certainly need the Stars voice line!
I don't have a huge issue with Jack Baker but i also didn't feel like i was playing resident evil when i played biohazard. It felt like a complete separate series.

I'm still all for Albert Wesker voiced by DC Douglas.
Just look at his powers in RE5 to get an idea of how he can play. Plus his '5 minutes. 5 minutes is all I can spare to play with you!' line really fits the current gen speeds. 😁
