Why haven't they created new maps in a while?

I took a break from DbD, I played until around December of 2019 and the last chapter I was up-to-date with was the Silent Hill one. It seems there are no new maps even though 3 more DLC packs are out? Am I mistaken here?

I see they updated the graphics of most old maps, is that why? Also which maps have/haven't been updated yet? Just curious, thanks!

    That's exactly why, yeah

We haven't had a 'new' map since Pyramid Head (last year's 4 year anniversary chapter) since then we've had Blight, Twins and now Trickster all without maps. Just map reworks instead

If there's no map with the upcoming RE chapter, I think BHVR will have lost the plot - it's basically guaranteed.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head. The devs really just wanted to bring the game up to date on its graphics. Especially to new players the graphics seemed a bit behind the times, character models have been getting much more detailed as well as I’m sure you have seen.

Some light balancing work has been done on the maps too, especially Ormond which has completely changed balance wise. They only have a few maps left, those being Haddonfield, Swamp, and Red Forest to the best of my knowledge. I hear that since Resident Evil is such a large chapter they may introduce a new map but we shall see. Welcome back!

They’re too busy ruining the old ones

I think they've done it backwards. They should have put in new maps for each chapter, then went back and improved maps. Now we've had like a year's worth of time and no new maps.

Is VR Dbd a thing yet? Might as well go with the whole skyrim port experience.

I really do hope they add new maps for Blight, Twins and Trickster at some point. Maybe as a finale to the Realm Beyond project.

My personal hopes are for the Cultists' gothic Monastery where Talbot studied for the Blight's map, and a rotting, plague riddled, feudal village somewhat similar in layout to Dead Dawg for the Twins. Trickster's a little trickier though. I originally thought an auditorium where he would've performed, but that'd be so open it'll be a cake walk for a ranged killer and hell for anyone else. Maybe the charred remains of the studio where NO-SPIN died?
