Gnome hunt - Limited Time - Get it as Survivor / Killer Once - Unlock it for all - Quick guide
So apparently BHVR added the gnome from L4D2 as a Rare Charm. How long will this be a thing? I don't know.
Once Endgame Collapse starts by either unlocking the exit gate or closing the hatch, the gnome will spawn. You will know it spawned because you will hear a laughter once Endgame Collapse starts.
During Endgame Collapse you need to look around the map for the gnome, if you get close it will make a laughter noise. It's quite small... so keep your eyes open.
Once you smash it as killer / survivor ONCE you'll unlock it for both sides & all characters.
Once someone smashes the gnome, it will laugh and spawn somewhere else.
This is best done with Killer. Close hatch & slug the last person then look for the gnome + you don't need to worry about the survivor stealing your precious gnome. As survivor you need to ESCAPE to get the charm, hence why killer is easier.

Does the gnome actually reapper? Someone smashed it and i looked the whole map and didn't find it.

Why exactly do you have to escape as Survivor? This makes no sense. The main reason why other rewards were only awarded when escaping was so that Survivors dont suicide on hook after getting the reward (like the Crowns), even tho this made getting them as Survivor much harder.
But with that, it is already the end of the game. Really strange why BHVR went for that.

I managed to smash the little ######### first try as Blight thankfully.
I looked and I did indeed have the charm on every character.

why should i bother slugging the last survivor when all the survivors will hang around the exit waiting to teabag at me before they leave? seems like an unnecessary extra step

It unlocks for both characters? Thanks dude! I already got it as Survivor was was trying my hardest as Killer, but looks like I don't need to anymore.

I can’t find the little bugger anywhere. I’ve heard it in 3 different trials now but can never see it. I guess it doesn’t matter since I don’t really use charms.

I wonder where the set spawn locations are? Three times now I've heard it, but ran out of time before I could actually find it.

We found 2 in one match as 2man SWF!

This is aggravating. I've done about eight matches and forced an EGC in each one and still couldn't find the little bugger before I ran out of time.

Found one in Groaning Storehouse along the log pile, if that info helps anyone. (I also heard the laughter in the temple basement off in one of the corners in Temple of Purgation, in the main building of Torment Creek, in the open front near the piles of rubble, and towards the side of Badham Preschool, at the end where there'll always be a small loop outside a breakable wall.)

The laughing is a distraction. It laughed by the exit gate, but found it on the other side of the map where hatch spawned.

It laughs once when it spawns or respawns - so you'll hear it laugh when the endgame collapse starts, and that doesn't mean anything, but if you hear it laughing after that, it's either nearby or another player smashed it.

I played as killer, waited for survivors to finish gens, opened the door myself and went looking for the gnome. If you don't care about pips this way is super easy because survivors will spend time hanging out in exit teabagging instead of looking for the gnome. 😂

for a very limited time event, this seems unnecessarily difficult, especially for survivors. they could at least make it spawn in the same location each time, like killer shack or main building.

Finally I get the damned gnome my goodness the first time I didn't have time to pick and I hit it with the M1 but finally I saw it again if it could destroy that horrible gnome with my space bar.
I must have looked like a piece of possessed with the killer because I have destroyed all survivors wildly and so so fast but everything is for the sake of finding that thing that laughed at me.

I finally got it; It figures, I finally got it when I'd given up looking for it.

I found 3 of them on one of the new farm maps. I just "failed" as killer and walked around while survivors desperately attempted to t-bag me giving me time to find them all.

Against my better judgement, I played a late night killer game to get the gnome. The game went horribly, the survivors were rude... but then they waited in the gates to teabag me, so I had time to walk around and find my gnome. ❤️
