I am once again asking you a few things as someone who has no barely any information about Resident Evil.

I've been lurking in on the conversations about who the characters might be, and I've started to see a few arguments against Nemesis, Mr. X, is that they don't really do anything except walk menacingly towards you in their respective games. This is commonly in favor of Lady Dimetriscu as the new killer.

But... She does the exact same thing. Right? I've watched somebody play it, and she just... Walks towards you, shouts something about you being a stupid man thing, and that's... It. I don't really know anything about Mr. X or Nemesis, but Lady D seems like she would be a really... Boring choice for a killer. She has claws. She's tall and hot. That's it?

I guess what I'm asking is what really makes any of the big names mentioned, Mr. X, Nemesis, Lady D, different? They all really seem to fit the same stereotype to me. This isn't me bashing Resident Evil at all, I 100% acknowledge the dramatic effect the series had on Video Game horror, I guess I'm just trying to understand why everyone seems so hooked on these three?

Ikr, that's literally the joke that I see. I guess you could say that the other two are preferred because they've been around for longer than Lady Dimitri.

I loved her transformation as well. Reminded me of Babylon the great.

You're saying all this like BHVR have no kind of creative process or input when designing a killer's abilities and all they're allowed to do is copy the character from the source. Look at Pyramid Head for a prime example. The way the character functions in their own game will probably be a lot different to the way they function in DbD.

In a very general sense, yes, all three of these characters do kind of fit the same archetype. Basically, being obstacles that either make you move along or block pathways making you have to find other ways. Were I think most people are looking at the differences between the three are the tools they have to, well, kill you.

Mr. X, as much as I love him and he’s great in the RE2 remake, he’s probably arguably the most plain one out of the three. His main aspects in the RE2 remake are, he’s durable, can break and bust through things with relative ease and has a lunge attack that takes a bit to charge up until he SPOILERS mutates into a Super Tyrant but, I can’t see them adding that aspect. That’s, sadly, really about it though, oh, and he’s also fashionable as well!

Lady D kinda falls into the same spot as Mr. X, she, honestly, doesn’t have much to play around with. She’s got even MORE durability then Mr. X and even Nemesis, seriously, nothing much hurts or stuns her for long and she’s got claws that are about 4 or 5 feet each. Like I said though, that’s really about it until well... SPOILERS, SERIOUSLY! She mutates into a giant dragon monster.

Nemesis has definitely the most tools at his disposal, some would even argue TOO many. He can sprint, leap, use his tentacles in a variety of ways, chuck things, has two weapons he can use being the rocket launcher and flamethrower, has a roar ability and, probably the two biggest ones that I could definitely see being a part of a power, he can infect people with the T-Virus(a virus that transforms people into zombies) and he can infect zombies with parasites that make them more of a threat to go against. Yeah, like I said, he’s got a LOT to play with.

Personally, the whole argument of “they just walk towards your character and try’s to kill them” is not a very good one because... it’s something that they all try and do.

I'm wondering where all the love for the original RE crew is. I never see people asking for Jill, Barry, Chris, or Wesker. It makes me wonder why everyone seems to be going from RE4 forward.

So, I forgot to mention a couple more things about Nemesis that I should bring up, sorry, I would edit my go comment but it’s a pain to edit on mobile. :(

Anyways, like Mr. X, Nemesis can also bust through things but with even more ease like brick walls are just thin layers of tissue paper but the BIG thing I forgot to mention is he has multiple mutations he goes through but, like Lady D and X, I just don’t see them making it in. Even if DBD’s Nemesis was basically a combination of the original and remake because in the original, his stage 2 isn’t anywhere near as drastic as the one in the remake. WARNING! HUGE SPOILERS BELOW!

Most people seem to asking for or suggesting Jill and Chris, but you can't forget Claire is in 2 and Veronica while Leon is in 2, 4, and 6. Chris is in 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, and Veronica, Jill is in 1, 3, and 5. Barry is only in 1, Rebecca is only in 1 and 0, Wesker is the cringiest of all late 90s-early 2000s cringe villains lol

Oh don't get me wrong, Wesker is pathetic. He's just iconic, that's all.

I see lots of requests for Kennedy and Claire, which is fine because I like them all too, but I actually haven't seen many people expressing hope for Jill and even Ethan's getting more love than Chris (which I guess is fine, as I love RE7). I guess Barry's kind of a joke vote but no one seems to even remember that he exists.

I mean it's fine, if Leon and Claire are the popular wishes for survivors so be it, I have nothing against them. I'm just surprised that relatively few people are going with the original team. To me an RE pack with Jill and Chris seems like a natural choice, but then there's no doubting the popularity of the RE2 team either.

-Lol I just wondered how people would react if they gave us an RE survivor and it was Alice from the stupid movies.

I don't think Nemesis or Mr. X would fit in this game, not because they menacingly walk towards you, but for other reasons.

@PixelBush has made an excellent video on the matter.

I think they are going to choose one of the ogs and just mix up their power. Yeah they just walk towards you in game but we have pyramid head and if ph is supposed to be accurate to his in game, then he can only take a few steps towards you at a time, is slow, and should kill himself after being looped for a few minutes

For me it's the Redfield siblings since Claire seems to be the most popular female survivor option with the option for legendary skins for other characters, I would totally get behind an Ada skin. For male the most logical to me is Chris as he has been in the most games and they can include some cosmetics for Leon or Barry or even Billy (had to try to not laugh typing that one)

Lady D would be awful and also I doubt it would happen as it would likely affect RE 8 sales in the eyes of CAPCOM.

In addition to this, the trailer had a male survivor and clovers. The clovers imply the Spencer mansion from RE1 and, if the characters are to be from RE1, then the survivor would likely be Chris Redfield (I'd prefer Leon. Jill or Ada, personally)

if they stick to RE1, the killer would likely be...Wesker maybe? As...the Tyrant, although technically that doesn't happen until RE4.

Clovers are used in reference in RE2, which could mean it's likely we get Leon.

Honestly, I cba to guess and I'd rather wait until the stream, as I could get my hopes up, etc, plus idk what power we could possible get that wouldn't either be grossly overpowered or underwhelming AF.

But it's most likely old-school RE over new RE.

Oh for sure, if they were cool enough to give us legendary skins they'd be able to work in pretty much everybody (which, to be fair, I think would be a great way for them to satisfy most RE fans). I'm just surprised, from an RE standpoint moreso than a DBD standpoint, that Jill has taken the backseat (I myself also don't see many people asking for Chris, but that's anecdotal). Leon and Claire seem to be the most common survivor requests. I wonder if a lot of that comes from the remake or what.

To be fair I haven't played 4 (heresy, I know, lol) through 6 so those characters could very well have become incredibly popular over the years. I'm a bit out of the loop. When I think iconic "Resident Evil" I think of playing the very first game in the basement at 17 years old, laughing at the terrible acting and thinking that Jill was the hottest thing since polygons. It's so ingrained in my memory I have to remind myself that "iconic RE" means lots of different things to lots of different people.

Jill and Chris would make perfect sense, although I can't stand Chris personally. I hope we get a male and a female, including Jill.

Jill is easily my top choice (though they wouldn't use the actress from the remakes of 1 and 2, they'd go with that hardass chick from 3. Not my JIll)! Why don't you like Chis? It's the boulder thing, right? :P

I just can't relate to his personality; he's too militaristic compared to the other possibilities, for me, at least!

Which is all hearsay. No one really knows, and those who do know such as the devs haven't said anything yet.

No, they are different viruses as far as I know. The Cadou is what plagues Dimetriscu according to what I gather. Anyway ignoring the lore, they are based off viruses and have unique traits about them. In fact, both Nemesis and Dimestriscu have different forms much unlike they're human forms. Dimestriscu turns from a vampire into a vampire Dragon, and Nemisis into a unusual creature in RE3R. So I am personally not convinced it will be them unless they just stick to they're original (first) forms.

They are placeholders for the series, you don't think about Rockstar without thinking about GTA, you don't think about Sekiro without thinking about Wolf, ect.

Its not about what people think is going to be the next RE killer due to anything other then preference really it seems.

If we got Lady D, it would have to come nerfed, I mean, it is absolutely a human tower, it would be a disadvantage both in height and in power of claws or something like that (The only power I can think of is its shapeshifter, for the gameplay of the tower against Ethan), At height, note that on maps and in the open field, even if it had a 16 or 24 meter radius of terror, it would be a disadvantage, Compared to Nemesis, many complain about the weaponry that it may possess or that it becomes A Myers 2.0 like Mr. X, if we had a perfect killer, we would choose between Nemesis 1998, Albert Wesker, Virkin and Baker, if Wesker was the killer it would be interesting to know his power, but there are 10 days to check it, and wait the PTB (Pray for at least 10 minutes of pairing as a killer).
