what is the point of reworking maps?
sure they get rid of broken loops but in a really boring way of "######### it breakable wall" and making stuff look better? most the reworked maps look debatably worse imo, and it's not because collision because have you played blight, guy literally slides off everything

Next gen consoles
I am convinced that is the main reason, imagine if they released old dbd on new hardware lol

I don't think there is one, to be honest. Everything the Realm Beyond touches changes for the worse.

They make the player's eyes not bleed. I miss old Coldwind but holy ######### if it wasn't annoying to even look at the screen while playing it.
Hopefully Autoheaven and Swamp are next

They were porting the game to next gen and didn't want the game to look like it had ps2 graphics

I like the graphical changes, I think they look nice.
My issue comes with implementation in game, like, The Game for example.
It seems like the balance team might think that an infinite is balanced if it can be broken, the issue is that if an infinite is still there regardless of if the wall is broken (Coal Tower), the infinite was just re-added with a little coat of paint.
My issue isn't the graphics but the balancing, which hopefully will be fixed

The rework map make the game feel like a ps4 game. The dev need to step up if they want the game to look like a ps5 or the new xbox graphic by a lot.

Mostly graphical upgrades and incorporating the new mechanic of breakable walls that no one actually likes. And I do think graphics and aesthetics have been improved in almost all cases.. but I see that this is a very subjective opinion.
i also had the feeling the performance on Switch got mostly better? But I really didn’t play much on it so not sure.

Auto Haven already got reworked.

I really like the graphics changes and gameplay-wise pretty much every map feels better apart from pallet factory.
Breakable walls really only feel like a thing that makes sense on indoor maps for the most part but I can learn to peacefully co-exist with them.

All of the reworked maps look 10x better than before. The old graphics were fugly and outdated.
That said, I agree that the Meat Plant needs some serious tweaks because there’s way too many pallets & crappy breakable walls.

I can speak for the Switch in a way. If one looks up the game they'll see a bunch of average reviews, but a deeper look reveals two things: Many reviewers were irritated that the game launched at full price (which I can assume to be around $50), and that it didn't have totally smooth framerates, at least when not in portable form.
An even closer look reveals that the game has definitely been updated since release. Watching modern videos of it on Youtube and so forth show a game that runs pretty darn smooth (my own experience has been 99 smooth as well). The old UI was present at launch but that's been changed as well. So they've certainly worked on it. The game also now retails for $30, unless you get it on sale at which time it's $15.
PS: I hate the breakable walls. Totally unnecessary gameplay element in my opinion. I also don't like how much open space there is on some of the maps, this may be placebo affect but it feels like I'm seeing it on maps that haven't even been officially touched yet, like Autohaven.

I dislike basically all of the reworks ruined the soul of maps

Okay, let me get these straight.
They didn't get rid of broken loops, yes. In fact they reintroduced with the terribly implemented breakable wall mechanic.
If you think these maps look worse now than they did before, you need an eye check-up.
Blight sliding is a completely separate issue worthy of its own discussion, and it's not the fault of the new maps.

but old Macmillan and autohaven looked better

Sorry but no...

It looked like they threw blue/green paint over everything, now at least looks like a real place.

The point is to add 5 years experience of making DBD to old, obsolete part of the game. Updated gameplay, design and visuals are necessary changes in multiplayer game after so long time. If you have further problem with online game being updated can i suggest Atari games for you? There are no updates whatsoever and games on that system will stay forever the same. That should suits you perfectly. :)

Oddly aggressive...

Probably devs dont wants to have maps thats looks like from 2015 near the maps that are from 2020.I think they want to attract newer players by the better looks of maps or just preparing for next gen consoles,or preparing for RTX mode .

but im fine with graphical updates but not when they break stuff and add something unfun

autohaven was already done

To fix ######### maps. Shelter Woods, I'm looking at you, Dead Zone City.

I think people have the wrong expectations of these realm overhauls. They expect balance changes, but that's not what these updates are about. They're about redoing all the assets, improving visual fidelity, or simply put, making them look prettier. And the devs may as well include breakable walls into these overhauled maps because they were going to be implemented anyhow.
I really don't think the devs went into this Realm Beyond update streak with the intent of balancing the maps. If they had, we'd see map layouts get changed around, some maps would get their overall size changed, hook count changes, pallet count changes. Yes some tiles were changed, most recently some tiles unique to Coldwind, but that can hardly be called an effort at balancing those maps. Patch 3.7.0 was a map balance patch. These patches aren't.
What purpose did the visual improvements to totems and the hatch do balance-wise? Of course they didn't change anything balance-wise, that wasn't the point.

Shelter Woods got already reworked. So the dead zones will stay a long time.

Wait, really? I don't remember this. Well, #########, Man. God, I hate that map as survivor.

It was Oct 20 i think. I have no problems with the map, but i get it not often.

They got rid of broken loops? Have you played the updated Saw and Farm maps?
2 -
Ormond and The Game got an overhaul. This wasn't purely cosmetic. SOME maps were just that, others weren't. The fact that they cherry picked some maps and not others (some that desperately need a balance rework) makes me wonder just where the priorities are in this organization. Not that the balancing was good whatsoever. Ormond is more tolerable, but The Game? Even a rank 20 with 30 hours in the game will tell you just how braindead the design is. I'm left to wonder why some are as you say, just redoing assets, and others are very much a completely change of the tiles and layout of the maps.

The graphics are WAY better. So I don't know what you're talking about.

That is your opinion. Some of us don't like those reworks. I hate them.
0 -
Eh they technically aren't real places in game as they are just constructs of The Entity.
However they(Originally) looked off because of being made by an eldritch being(The Entity) that doesn't fully understand architecture. Which is why they always change.
Its also why the moon is so close on several maps is that the entity made a fake moon but didn't know how far away it actually was.

I know, but some maps were just downright ugly i liked the farm and haddonfield but macmillam and autohaven looked horrible.
