Corrupt Intervention
☆EDIT☆
-I am aware that the balance of the game with bigger maps make it almost necessary. I'm wondering if the perk is too relied on at times. YES I KNOW 3 GENS CAN BE DONE instantly depending on map, but that's a game issue ya know. Just annoyed by the overuse. I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH OF AN ISSUE WITH THE PERK, I HAVE THE ISSUE OF THE OVERUSE.
I mostly play killer, but I personally never use Corrupt Intervention. It's not a fun perk and it feels cheap at times. Sure it's gone forever and never reused after, but it's too rewarding. No skill required and it lockdowns a bunch of the map for killers.
It is in every build when I'm against a killer. Now I'm back at Red Ranks on survivor. Is it really that necessary? I never use it and can still Double Pip as a killer.
What can we do to have this perk being used non stop.

Corrupt isn't even that good, it just gets defaulted because it's the only early slow down that exists.
If anything I'd give it buffs.

Corrupt is best on a set-up killer like Trapper or Hag -- its value otherwise can be questionable. I agree that if you're seeing it in a lot of matches, it's simply because most killers need SOME slowdown at the start, at there aren't many options available.
I've played against a killer running Corrupt -- and I've literally spawned within sight of a gen that wasn't even blocked. It's easily worked around.

You know what makes a perk good? When everyone hates seeing it
Paraphrasing Puppers
18 -
It's weird saying that corrupt is a no skill perk with too much reward, when the main thing it does is stop survivors from getting free gens at the start.
If anything, I'd wish it was base kit and the other slowdown perks got a heavy nerf if not outright removed.
21 -
It's not good on Hag really. It's better to lose a couple of gens and fully set up your net, instead of having survivors interrupt you.
2 -
This could be interesting to see in a PTB.

There are a few ways they could go about it but this one would probably be the easiest to implement.
0 -
It's 100% necessary against anybody good. I don't think anybody wants to run it, but I've tried running without it in competitive settings and the result was hilarious.
5 -
If you never use Corrupt Intervention, then how do you know it's too rewarding? Try using it yourself to see what benefit you get out of it.
2 -
I don't use Corrupt myself, but that's mostly because my preference is for perks that potentially give value throughout the match, like Surge or Sloppy Butcher, particularly on an M1 killer, or perks that are, if not useful, than just fun like Dark Devotion.
1 -
Survivors literally start next to gens, which they can begin repairing not 5 seconds into the match, and you think Corrupt Intervention is cheap?
15 -
All corrupt does is stop survivors sitting on a gen the moment they spawn into the match. That's all it does. It doesn't even slow down gens because the survivors will spend 20 seconds walking to the uncorrupted gens, which will be in the center of the map, and do those first instead. Now all the gens that were corrupted are now uncorrupted, you only have 3 perks for the rest of the match and you're stuck patrolling the hardest gens to defend - the gens on the outside of the map meaning a lot of time spent travelling to each one.
It's not a good perk, I love seeing killers run corrupt as survivor because it tells me the killer has a good early game (which you're not threatened at all as a survivor at this stage) but a terrible late game (3 perks, and lots of time wasted going to the last gens and the time when gen defence actually matters).
The only times it's good is when you're a setup killer like Trapper, Hag or Demo and you get a long map which corrupts all the gens on one side of the map (which rarely happens).
1 -
I wonder if the people who say things like this even play killer. Have you ever heard of keys?
1 -
A lot of people may actually just wait it out such as myself (+teamates) and look at the killer wander around the map trying to patrol gens even though none of us are actually on one lol.
3 -
Most of the larger maps if you dont have it you are on 3 gens almost instantly.
1 -
This was the reason I stopped using it. Specialy as Myers. Survivors just refuse to do gens and proceed to just hide for 2 minutes. Unless you have whispers there is nothing to do, and if you do find someone and start a chase the other survivors will just pop the uncorrupted gens

Corrupt Intervention is an excellent Perk, despite all the naysayers so far. The key is you have to work to make a profit. There is no such thing as a free lunch. The Perk buys you time, but it is up to you to use it properly. If you aren't good at finding Survivors, all it is going to do is delay things a bit. However, if you are (or have) honing your skills to hunt them down, it works wonders. I like to combine it with Thrill of the Hunt because many Survivors use the two minutes to start killing Totems while they wait on the Generators. This means within the first twenty seconds you get an audible cue of where at least one Survivor is located (and in general it is 2+ in the vicinity of that cue).
If you have designed your routes to allow you to listen for the center, uncorrupted Generators as you search and destroy, you can effectively find your quarry. After awhile, you get a pretty good idea where the Survivors have spawned based on your own arrival point. That means you can cut the map in effective ways. Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, but I love the Perk. If it isn't working for you, then obviously you should try something else. However, I want to point out that time is not on the side of the Survivor. For them, the best chance of escape is to have a Generator up before the first hook. Corrupt Intervention makes that far harder to accomplish.

Corrupt is a pretty mediocre perk that's only really good on killers that have to set up. Generally speaking, survivors just go to another gen or stealth it out. Wow, impactful, I totally got my perk investment back.
1 -
I don't use it, as I feel it's a waste of a slot. Only set up killers can make use of it, and even then, it's iffy. Either the survivors wait it out, and you're down a slot, or you find an excellent looper who wastes your time, killing a slot.
Even for Trapper and Hag, I think it's a waste. The furthest three gens are usually the ones you WANT to go, so you don't have to cross half a map at a time anyway. While they're working on those gens, you can be setting up in the center, instead of risking a central gen popping and thus splitting the map.
2 -
It's not the perks fault it helps balancing the game. My issue is it is overused in the matches I get and there isn't anything to deserve the lockdown. It's free, NOED isn't free even. Just overused due to the current state of game. Thats the main issue

I like to play immersive, at the start if the map is indoor and Corrupt is up. I love the feeling searching for another Gen while hiding from killer's terror radius.
I actually use Corr because I think people would like the same. Since Ruin is more overrated
1 -
Tbh I have had people pop 2 to 3 gens even with corrupt. It really isn't all that annoying even if overused. All it does is bring down the number of gens down to 4 instead of 7 to patrol for the killer. I personally like to get a scope of the layout of the map anyway so i dont normally hop on the first gen I see. I get its annoying to go against a perk over and over again But If you adapt to the perk the over use wont bother you imo
0 -
Nah. I hate seeing Urban. Does that make Urban good? No, it just makes it really annoying.
0 -
Exactly.
Survivors can render the perk almost useless if they stealth around and search for totems, mentally map out gen locations & safe loop locations. However, a lot aren't that smart and/or just too darn impatient.
2 -
It also covers a lot of ground and the survivors are always by the blocked generators. JUST MATCH AFTER MATCH, its breaks ya mentally
0 -
Perk CAN'T BE USELESS, because it buys you time NO MATTER what you do. If they do totems, cool don't do HEX builds. Do more gen cucks.
I again don't really care for the perk, I just have it being ran against me as much as BT and DS was 15 months ago. That's my problem.
0 -
It's not free, it's an entire perk slot that only lasts 2 minutes.
0 -
Good for Oni too, he's as bad as trapper early game. Corrupt gets you in the fight.
0 -
I run Corrupt Intervention with Doctor and Whispers. I do see people try to hide next to the corrupted gens but it rarely works in their favor. Survivors typically spawn at the furthest gens which are locked. So its almost a big arrow of come look here lol
My goal is to get 2-3 hooks before 1st gen pops. If I can tunnel 1 out from the beginning, then that means they have 3 survivors and 5 gens.
1 -
Does anyone else feel like Corrupt is slightly overrated?
Just to clarify, I don't think it's bad - I'm just of the opinion it's not as good as people make it out to be
2 -
That's the key issue though. Is the game is balanced for a 4v1 and if you are behind on gens say like 4 or 5 with 3 people left...kind of at disadvantage. Then if it's 2v1 and there is 2 or more gens left than it's a gg go find hatch.
I don't need the perk personally, JUST OMG SO MANY PEOPLE ARE USING IT
0 -
Just because its used often is not grounds to nerf it. At higher ranks some form of slowdown is damn near required to bring. A better solution is to buff other perks so theres more options.
1 -
Yea, it's not good, just annoying and feels cheap. I don't know why everyone is using it honestly. Much better perks, like SAVE BEST FOR LAST.
0 -
I don't mind going against corrupt as a survivor at all. i'm not sure why people are so irritated by it
1 -
Mostly annoyed that it happens every match. Like honestly didn't care the first 4 matches. 5 got me bothered and 6th match got me so upset. Not even that good
0 -
If it's literally upsetting you then does that mean it is inconveniencing your play in some way? Does that imply that is it a good perk?
1 -
No because I can do totems or open chests. It's not a inconvenience, it's a common annoyance more like it. I DON'T HATE THE PERK, just I don't know why it's used so much.
0 -
I absolutely despise this perk for one reason:
It stops me from taking advantage of the fact I often spawn next to survivors near a generator. Do you have any idea how many co-op points you just robbed me of!? They never follow me to another a generator either...
But then I remember I run small game, and you just gave me the time to kill all of those totems and still get objective points later.
---
But still robbing me off those free co-op points early is just mean man - stop it.
1 -
Instead of hating the perk, people should actually think about the reason why killers started staking gen slowdown perks.
0 -
i don't bother thinking around keys. personally if survivors key out then it's a win for me and it gets me out of the lobby with the people who take the game seriously enough to bring a key.
0 -
So as someone who mostly plays killer, Corrupt is one of the few slow downs I like Ruin is RNG, it'll either do nothing, last about 2 minutes, or make the game impossible for survivors depending on where it spawns. Pop is just way to strong of a perk. I don't want the survivors to have to do 1-2 extra gens worth of time.
I prefer corrupt because its consistent but not over bearing on the survivors end. Corrupt gives me early game map pressure in which I can turn into downs with means I can get end game pressure easily too.
0 -
Obviously agree, but I don't even think it's the best perk to slow gens down.
0 -
Difference between Pop and Ruin, they have requirements. Ruin is limited as long the totems up. Pop needs a hook.
Corrupt is just Free 3 gens that survivors spawn by. No actual skill to have it pay off.
0 -
Of course it's not a great perk. But killers don't have any great gen slowdown perks. Old ruin was decent. But it was still a hex perk.
Right now, there isn't a single perk that would help a struggling killer with the gens.
0 -
Bruh you do know there is an even easier way to get out of the game with people who bring keys, just back out the lobby
0 -
i am way too relaxed to be tabbed in analysing the lobby.
0 -
Fair enough bro, more power to you! It's not much analysis on my side though, Key = Leave
1 -
every free moment is spent disassociating, and queueing for video games is definitely one of my favourite things to disassociate to.
0 -
Unlike Pop and ruin, at least for me, as survivor I don't feel oppressed by the perks.
Pop only gets stronger as there are less gens, same with ruin. Corrupt is only strong where there are multiple gens because well that is the only time it works.
Ruin isn't a problem as survivor if you just cleanse it right away or within the first 2 minutes, but after a 2 minute mark, ruin is gaining A LOT of value in the game. Pop is always valuable.
In case it's not noticeable, I really only like perks on my killers that I would want to play against as survivor.
0 -
I understand that. I'm the same, but Corrupt isn't SOOO GOOD it has to be in every match.
