So just wondering everyone thoughts.
In your opinion what's the most underrated killer and survivor perk ?

In your opinion what's the most overrated killer and survivor perk ?

For me

Most underrated survivor perk: Would be no mither. It has a harsh reputation because the killer know you have it before even encountering you. Also most complain they don't get slugged with it but as someone who uses it for an injured build it's amazing and stops me from have to go out my way to get injured.

Most underrated killer perk: Hex the third seal. This has to be may favourite perk pure on just how devastating it can be on people know pay attention. While it's not the best hex perk it forces the Survivors to look for their hooked and downed teammates. My only issue with it is that the hook bubble makes it easy to determine the general location of people who've been hooked.

Most overrated survivor perk: Dead hard. Now by no means do I think this is a bad perk just when you're up against the killer that knows what they're doing you only really get one effective use out of it. Other than that it's only really useful in maybe giving you enough of a boost to get you to that extra pallet or vault it's good but I don't feel like it deserves to be rated as high as it tends to be.

Most overrated killer perk: Nurses calling.
Now once again this is not a bad perk it's actually very good just if you're up against the survivor who knows what they're doing they're not going to be healing in your terror radius unless they can confirm you don't have it. Granted monitor and abuse does help but you also burning up another perk slot and even with monitor and abuse perks like spine chill and premonition can notify someone whether they should stop healing or not.

I agree with your view on Hex : The Third Seal. I love that perk. I also agree on Dead Hard. I don't know why players use it. You can trick me once, but cannot fool me twice.

Hex perks are worthless. Only use them if you have nothing else to equip.

Overrated survivor perk - DS, I don't see it that often and when someone does have it, he gets downed within 10 seconds after landing it. And this is in red ranks on the ps4.

Underrated survivor perk - boil over, killers hate it and I ######### love it xD

Overrated killer perk - lightborn, flash lights can be played around unless of course you're animation locked.

Underrated killer perk - MYC, I rarely see it and it's basically a guaranteed hook if you're quick on the return.

Underrated Killer Perks: Spies of the Shadows, Dying Light, Territorial Imperative, Coulrophobia, Lightborn, Most Huntress perks, Hex The Third Seal, Hangman's Trick

Overrated Survivor Perk : Self Care (lemme smack you, I run Sloppy Butcher, so enjoy wasting your time healing. Even better when healing gets a nerf soon to take even longer).

Overrated Killer Perk : Lightborn. Now that insta-blinds are gone, not much need for it unless you find a Squadette and there are 2+.

Underrated Survivor Perk : Dead Hardy So many people use this perk wrong. It’s not only a “make them wiff when they are right on your ass” perk. You can use it to create JUST ENOUGH distance to make that window or Pallet you weren’t going to make. Unbelievably a god send for escaping the basement. Can also bait Killers into whiffing at a hook JUST in time for your team mate to get enough to wiggle off.

Underrated Killer Perk : Sloppy Butcher. In a game where seconds count, every bit helps. Sloppy Butcher adds second onto that healing. Will be even more devastating to run after the healing nerf. Coupled with Self Care’s half speed healing, enjoy wasting 36 to 40 seconds healing with Self Care while I go hunting.

Overrated is Self Care and Nurses Calling.

Self-Care can be replaced by Bond and Nurses Calling wont work on most Killers if you are uo against smart survivors.

Underrated perks are Bloodhound and Hope.

Bloodhound is a nice perk that not only helps against jukes but it also punishes altruism really well, the extra 5 seconds is enough to often catch bodyblockers and track them down and get a free hook once you are done with the chase/hook.

Hope, while in a need of a small buff is really good, 7% does not sound like much but against 115% Killers this will nearly double the time it takes to catch up with you.

I don't know its under rated but I use Monitor and Abuse on most killers and couldn't be without it. Just that extra 8m of creeping up on survivors without a terror radius makes all the difference.

    Overrated: Dead Hard, Rancor
Dead Hard is complete garbage, and that's that. It'll probably work once, and unless the killer is a bit special, he'll just bait your DH out. It's barely ever useful, and I hate it. Worst exhaustion perk in my opinion.
Rancor is also trash and I don't know why I see so many people use it. It's a hard counter to DS and it gets you a confirmed kill. Sounds okay on paper, but it's such a wasted perk slot. Most people who aren't stupid will hide until the gates are open so they can leave safely. If you want to counter out DS, just bring Enduring - good on literally every killer except Nurse and helps with looping.
I feel like people who take Rancor count too much on it to give them a confirmed kill at the end of the game, and they don't realize how bad it is. It's crazy how many people I see use it.

Underrated: Windows of Opportunity, Monitor & Abuse
Windows of Opportunity is such an underrated perk, and I love using it. People say it's meant for newbies who don't know where pallet or window vaults are, but that's false. Tiles spawn weirdly and sometimes you don't get a pallet at a certain tile that typically has a pallet. Another survivor may have used a jungle gym pallet you thought was still there. Perhaps the basement house that can spawn on Haddonfield/Springwood that you were intending to loop during a chase doesn't have the pallet spawned down there. It's an incredibly helpful perk, and I love running it.
Monitor & Abuse is hilarious and pairs well with Nurse's Calling. People get so tripped out by it. It's especially good on Nurse. I don't really know what to say about it, other than it's hysterical and one of my favorite perks. I wish more people ran it.

    Killer perks:
Overrated: Rancor - People rely on this way too much for their late game.

Also overrated: A Nurse's Calling - Most people play around it nowadays, so you really have to go out of your way to make use of it. I ran it on Pig for rank 1, but its usefulness is questionable, unless you really like using her stealth.

Hex: Haunted Ground - Good only a couple killers because SWF can just power through it. Also doesn't seem to stop Ruin from being destroyed first by randoms, anyway.

Underrated: Bloodhound - Bloodhound is a better tracking perk than Stridor ever will be, due to the broken audio and how Stridor actually works in just increasing volume, rather than also making positional accuracy better.

Monitor & Abuse - Despite how awesome this perk is, I don't actually see a lot of people use it. While not as effective on 32m TR killers, it's still useful.

Hex: Third Seal - Assuming it doesn't die in 20 seconds, this perk is both nasty and hilarious... once you actually hit 3-4 people. That's the biggest drawback, though, in that you actually have to hit everyone, and then the game automatically tells people hit that you're using it and it's on them. It's awesome, but so terribly designed, and the devs don't seem interested in making it more functional (according to streams).

Make Your Choice - Rarely seen, even more that it's rarely used. S-Tier perk that can change a game with double downs. Particularly effective on Pig herself, though nearly every Hag runs it, and some Nurses.

Remember Me - If you can get at least 4 tokens, this perk is remarkably strong, even without a full late game build.

Franklin's Demise - Used mainly for being annoying, but it's actually incredibly strong in wasting survivors' time. They love to go back for their items, even at great risk.

Overcharge (3) - While I've seen survivors hit a lot of Overcharge skill checks, they will never hit them all. Exceptionally powerful for setting up a 3-Gen strategy, or just wasting additional time for them. If Ruin or Huntress Lullaby are up and going, this is even stronger. Extra gay to play against with Distressing + Unnerving, since it makes the skill check a sliver.

    ~

    Survivor Perks:
Overrated: Bond - Outclassed by Empathy, and largely useless for SWF.

Borrowed Time - Utterly crippled by nerfs to the point that it's completely useless. The time duration is way, way too short now to be usable, so the killer doesn't even need to chase the hooked person very far for them to just bleed back down.

Botany Knowledge - Poor man's medkit Sabotage. It's very low-impact, and never worth a perk slot once you get something better.

Premonition - Though it will detect EW1 Myers, its cooldown is far too long, and it's easily wasted to no effect.

Boil Over - Good-ish with SWF and Sabotaging, but it won't stump any killer worth their salt. It also won't have any effect against some carry perks.

Plunderer's Instinct - Garbage perk. Chests almost never reward anything good, and seeing them isn't going to help you, or the sound they produce.

Underrated: Technician - Surprisingly good, though especially for players bad at hitting Greats for Ruin. It's also good for doing dangerous repairs, and pairs very well with Stake Out for powering through Ruin entirely.

Iron Will - This makes it a lot easier to juke, as killer audio is easily the second best tracking method in chases. The only thing you can't avoid is leaving a blood trail, but this makes the infamous backtrack window loop far easier to pull off. Most killers don't expect this perk.

Calm Spirit - Good for Doctor, but basically useless for anything else. I'd use it against Clown, too, but his hinder is too broken, so you'll be caught even with Urban Evasion if he's not ######### as hell and has already hit you and noticed you didn't scream.

Dance With Me - I hardly see anyone use this godly perk. It can be combined with Urban Evasion, Quick and Quiet, and/or Lithe, for a godly juking build.

Small Game - Totem finder, and also useful-ish if you're bad against trap killers.

Spine Chill - A great warning perk, and also good against Freddy for triggering more skill checks. The speed bonus isn't very useful.

We'll Make It - The better unhook perk compared to Borrowed Time. It increases your healing speed an insane amount, but YOU need to do the unhooking.

Underrated survivor perk: Bond. This perk is so useful for many reasons. You can locate your fellow team mates in all kinds of situations, like if you are looking for a gen on a map that is tricky to locate gens on (Lery's, Game) and see one of them working on one. You can use it to find injured survivors who need healing. You can see a survivor being chased coming your way and hide, or vice versa if you are being chased and don't want to sandbag your fellow team mates. If you and another survivor are the last two on a map, one gen to go, you can locate your fellow survivor and find a gen together.

Overrated survivor perk: Dead hard. Most competent killers wise up to it once you've used it once.

Underrated killer perk: Bloodhound. Combine this with sloppy butcher and its literally follow the red brick road once you injure a survivor. You're almost guaranteed not to lose them. Better than BBQ and chili any day.

Overrated killer perk: There are a few. But I'll go with Thanatophobia. Unless you have most or all of the survivors injured, which almost never happens with self care, then this doesn't make any real difference on gen repair.

Empathy is underrated imo. I barely see people use it. Unlike bond it has unlimited range and lets you know when killers is chasing a survivor. For killer it's knock out. You can slow the game massively by leaving 1 survivor at a time on the ground(doesn't work that well vs swf though). Overrated is dead hard, since it'll usually buy you only a few seconds unless you are at the exit gate(lithe or bl are way better) and ruin for killer since it get instantly destroyed and barely slows the game down.

Overrated survivour perk - once again, Dead Hard. Won't save you from one-shots, btw.
Underrated survivour perk - I'll agree with HellDescent, Empathy is GREAT. It would easily replace SC if everyone used it at tier 3, while also giving you information about the chases in any corner of the map. It's incredible and useful even if you're the only one using it. And it's definetly better than Bond, which has that 32 meters radius which is kind of useless, because you see/hear survivours here most of the time. Good luck running around the map in search of anyone, because that's 100% something you wouldn't do without it.
Overrated killer perk - Hex: Ruin. Seriously, why are people STILL pick it, if survivours spawn right next to it, sometimes even more than 1.
Underrated killer perk - Bloodhound. It's absolutely great even without Sloppy Butcher. It's great for keeping track of downed survivours, chased survivours, and injured survivours who happened to run far away from you.

    Most underrated survivor perk: Lightweight
Your scratchmarks are only visible for 5-6s. I like to run everywhere for efficiency and this perk is the runnning equivalent to Urban Immersion, you're not gonna be spotted because of scratchmarks.

Most underrated killer perk: Save the best for last
Solves one of the main problems of M1 killers: The huge distance they get for a hit. With a full Stbfl, every M1 killer feels powerful, how it should be. Its a bit hard to play around the obsession though, when they start to act cocky.

Most overrated survivor perk: Dead Hard
Still A-tier perk for looping mistakes and works here and there, but its counterable.

    Most overrated killer perk: Whispers
Used to be THE tracking perk, but so many aura reading perks have been added which tell you exactly where someone is. Now its still good for hatch and scratching off a few seconds while patrolling, but i prefer alternatives.

    Overrated:
Sprint Burst. Not because it's not strong or anything, but because it's so annoying to walk everywhere. It's great when paired with UE, but obnoxious without it.

Thanatophobia. Look at the values for it. It's so useless, why do so many people use it?

    Underrated:
Quick and Quiet. I get away with locker jukes so much that I can hardly play without it.

Nurse's Calling. I know some people already regard it as high tier, but I think it's so good it's mandatory. Playing killers with small TRs (and with M&A), it makes it so easy to catch survivors healing in some dingy corner.

Underrated Survivor Perk: It would either be We'll Make It and or Kindred.

Overrated Survivor Perk: Sprint Burst and or DS.

    Underrated Killer Perk: Bitter Murmur

Overrated Killer Perk: Ruin. I am starting to ween myself off of it since I am playing Higher ranked games now, it doesn't really help all t hat much. Unless I am doing something specific like Tier 1 Myers or something.

I find this thread rather fascinating. People definitely have some interesting opinions here. I can't help but feel that players saying things like Borrowed Time, Sprint Burst, Self Care and Decisive Strike are overrated have an agenda. All of those perks are top tier for a reason.

There are some underrated perks that I agree with. Bloodhound, Pop Goes the Weasel, and Hex: Third Seal are all quite playable. The comments I find the most amusing though are the ones where the perk seems appropriately rated to me. For instance, I've seen Nurses' Calling listed in both over and under rated. IMHO, I see it used an appropriate amount. It is absolutely a very solid perk, but it isn't something I think should be ran in every build with every killer either.

Fun thread. Keep the responses coming.

I would actually disagree with SB being top-tier. It's been nerfed heavily now. It was great when you could just run normally and have it recovering, but now you can't shift or you'll waste it when you don't need it. Lithe and Balanced Landing are much better.

    Overrated:
    - Calm Spirit. Might counter Doctor, but thats it. Clown? Irrelevant against him.
    - Nurse's Calling. Plenty already said.

    Underrated:
    - Wake Up: Not the most helpful one, but it excels on no-SWF set-ups. And it speeds up one of the most decisive moments of the game (to my eyes, at least).
    - Deerstalker: Might be difficult to say this one is underrated, because it used to be meta and hasnt changed at all. People say its outclassed by BBQ, but I honestly feel with so many conditions on it, Deerstalker is way better at tracking dying Survivors.

    On PS4:

Underrated survivor perks: 1.) Kate (windows and boil over others mentioned above totally agree and she became my main because of this during chapter seven) 2.) Quentin (pharmacy and wake up are awesome support perks if you want to try a more challenging Self care adrenaline type build) 3.) Nea (Streetwise may need a slight buff but if your team is running items or you are a chest fiend like me this perk helps everything last so much longer. Small tip use toolboxes with teammates with this perk omg barely any of the charges will be gone it’s amazing, gen rush potential is stupid)

Overrated: self care (gives the game a non horror feel if you have unlimited heals they need to give this perk limited charges or something it’s stupid how strong some survivors act and it wastes so much time. I’m happy they nerfed healing speed at least so people are more inclined to work together)

Killers: I don’t play killer enough to have every perk unlocked but my favorite perks to use are pretty non Meta I think. But they work so well what do you think of them?
    1. PGTW (I don’t have ruin nor want it because I cleanse the hell out of totems as a survivor so this does the job
    2.) sloppy butcher
    3.) blood warden
    4.) fire up

    @Peanits said:
The most overrated perks I would say are Thanataphobia and self care.

Thanataphobia- even when you do have all four injured- barely does anything, and is next to impossible to maintain. We're talking an extra ~14 seconds on a solo generator if for some reason nobody heals up that entire time. I know nobody's really clamoring for Thanataphobia, but I see waaaaaay too many people using it for how weak it is.

Self care is a wasted perk slot 99% of the time. Two survivors can heal each other up in the exact same time. Finding another survivor if you are injured is incredibly easy to do. I don't even run it anymore because when I did, half the time someone would show up in the middle of my heal to finish me off. I dropped it like an ugly baby and never looked back and it hasn't affected my survival at all. The only time I miss it is when I'm the last one up and injured, but that doesn't happen all too often (certainly not enough for me to use a perk slot on it).

Underrated would be Caulrophobia, Pop Goes the Weasel and Kindred.

Caulrophobia is nasty. It's such a massive increase to healing time. Combine that with Sloppy Butcher or some terror radius increasing perks/add-ons and ain't nobody healing on your watch. It's already crazy long, but with the PTB changes I was able to get a ~95 second self care. Even if they do heal up, that's a ton of time to lose.

Pop Goes the Weasel is great if used right. If you hook a survivor next to a generator you know someone has been working on, you can quickly run over and take off a huge chunk of its progression instantly while still keeping pressure on the other survivors. I probably put way too much strategy into where I hook survivors, but it's a subtle skill that really pays off once you get used to it.

Kindred is a life saver when playing with randoms, even just one or two. It make such a huge difference in efficiency alone, not to mention you won't get left on the hook for over a minute while everyone thinks, "Someone else has them, I'm just going to do this generator."

Selfcare is really good and not overrated imo, without selfcare you need to waste time looking for another survivor, and then that survivor needs to waste time healing you, also, for the healing to happen you guys need to be on the same place, and if the killer comes, you guys need to stop healing(so the killer is effectivelly wasting the time of 2 survivors)

    Ex:

Imagine that a full heal received from someone else needs 15 seconds to be completed, with Selfcare you will need 30 seconds to fully heal yourself alone. People see that 15 seconds is better than 30, but they forget that on the 15 second case--- 2 SURVIVORS ARE DOING NOTHING BUT HEALING, MEANS THAT THE INJURED PERSON IS STAYING STILL FOR 15 SECONDS WHILE THE HEALER IS STAYING STILL HEALING FOR 15 SECONDS--- that means that you guys just effectively lost 30 seconds of survivor action time(15 seconds from the healer, and 15 seconds from the injured survivor)

While using Selfcare only the injured survivor will be wasting 30 seconds healing (its also means that the survivor lost 30 seconds of survivor action time)

This means that if we look at it efficiency wise, having Selfcare or not having it, its the same--YOU WILL NEED TO SPEND 30 SECONDS OF SURVIVOR ACTION TIME TO GET A FULL HEAL OFF--

Now if we look at things on the practical side we can see why having Selfcare is much better than not having it:

    With Selfcare:
-You can start healing yourself whenever you want, no need to waste time looking for anyone.
-If killer finds you when you are healing, only you need to start running (other 3 survivors can be doing
objectives) once you lose the killer you can instantly continue your selfhealing, no need to waste time
looking for anyone to heal you.

    Without Selfcare:
-You need to find someone, so they can heal you, so you waste time looking for someone to heal you.
-if killer finds you when you are being healed, you both need to start running (only the other 2 survivors are
doing objectives, and this is really good for the killer, since by finding the injured guy he also found
another survivor and its wasting the time of both of them) in this situation if the killer chases you, you
need to lose him and then start looking for another survivor to finish healing you (means more time waste
looking for another survivor and not doing objectives) if the killer chases your healer instead of you, you
also need to waste time looking for another survivor other than the chased 1, so you can be healed

And this is why Selfcare is good, its practical and timesaving, and it only costs 1 perk slot.

(Edit: YES i know that the default healing speed is 12 seconds, but i used 15 seconds as an EXAMPLE since it looked better to me xD)

Underrated survivor perk: Hope - This has single-handedly helped me escape at the end of the game, sometimes only even at tier 1. The movement speed buff makes you almost immune to slow killers and soft counters NOED speed buff. It's helped me dodge Rancor too, I woulda been dead without that little bit of extra speed. I combo it with BL and some loops become infinite (for 2 minutes at least LOL).

Overrated survivor perk: Urban Evasion - If you understand LoS and aren't someone that just hides in a bush somewhere cough P3 Clauds cough you don't need this perk. As a slow killer, this perk is annoying AF to deal with, and the idiots I see using it think I can't see them crouch walking out in the open. UE is such a cheese perk.

Underrated killer perk: Stridor - I use this on Spirit (as she needs it most IMO) but it can be VERY useful on other killers. I found for Huntress it makes it easier to line up long range shots in the corn using sound, and it's terrifying to survivors when they can't see you. It's like a combination of Nurse's Calling and Bloodhound, in that it works best against injured survivors and is both a tracking perk and a healing deterrent since you can almost pinpoint their location through sound it's sort of like an aura. If they don't have Iron Will it's almost impossible to hide from you if they are injured. And it helps with finding those P3 Clauds with UE because you hear them gasp every now and then.

Overrated killer perk: BBQ & Chilli - Best killer perk for BP. Top 3 for aura reading. But OMG, guys, it's not even a challenge anymore. I dodge BBQ like it's nothing, it's so easy to juke. Likewise, I get juked constantly as killer using BBQ. I put on Bitter Murmur though, and ######### hits the fan. Killers need to mix it up. Hell I've used Territorial Imperative randomly at times and it works! Someone ######### will go down there eventually, or if you manage to hook someone down there it becomes a death trap. Best of all NO ONE EVER EXPECTS IT. Yea BBQ is great for Billy and Nurse, but everyone else is too slow to do anything of real value with it. Spirit maybe, Huntress maybe (if she has a clear shot), but everyone else it's more of a perk to keep tabs on survivors and not so much hunt them down. Other perks exist to help you find survivors, Whispers is a lot of fun, and yes BBQ is useful I just find it so easy to beat as survivor that you are better off with different aura perks.
