My dead by daylight has frame drops whenever I tab into it

I've been playing dead by daylight for a while now and I've had fun with it but until now my game randomly just has terrible frames I can run dbd perfectly but it doesn't work. What I found the weirdest was if I tab out of the game (for example just pressing the windows key) the game looks fine but I click into dbd and the frames go terrible. What's happening to it?
