(NOT HARRASSMENT) why do the new lgbtq charms have the ability to make gameplwy seem like hate crime

I'm not against lgbtq. I'm not involved, and I don't talk about it when I see it either. But the new charms give me a bad feeling people wearing the charms will say " he CAMPED an LGBTQ BAN HIM" or " he blinded an lgbtq BAN HIM!". I'd understand harassment in endgame chat but gameplay?

Can't wait for killers to warn every survivors no matter if toxic or not and all survivors to warn the killer

  • Member Posts: 133

It's okay, just use the pride charm as Killer! Bringing justice to the world, one sacrifice at a time!

  • Member Posts: 827

I wouldn't worry about it at all

I was just talking to someone in another forum about this. There's the potential for the charm to be abused both ways: Some will unfairly claim that they were targeted for wearing it, while others WILL unfairly target those who are wearing it.

This is definitely something that the devs will have to consider, if they haven't already.

1st, you can barely see the charm on Survivors so even if someone tries to say you camped/tunneled/slugged/sandbagged because of it there is plausible deniability.

2nd, if someone is claiming those things in post game chat you have the option to not engage by leaving making any report or argument on their side null as there would be no evidence to support their claim.

3rd, played with it on for a few games tonight (didn't play much because ngl I'm a little burnt out after finishing level 2 of the tome) and not a one person mentioned me wearing it on Survivors or having it on my hooks as killer.

That appen to me, the surviver said I tunnel him because he as this charm I answer "I'm gay so nop" and he reporte me ps4 and I was ban 7 day just because I'm gay, so this charm it's not very good for me for that

Exactly, the biggest issue is those thinking it will be an issue.

I'm gay myself and for the longest time my steam name was Hex: Butt Stuff and the bulk of matches nobody said anything and if they did it was either joke flirting or on a whole two occasions in the 8+ months I was going by it "your name is gross and you should change it."

Sounds like something that will be a rarity. I mean how often do people playing Adam, Claudette or Tapp accuse people of tunneling them for playing black characters? (on the other hand, look at the racial slurs people actually use in post game chats)

  • Member Posts: 2,719

Am I correct in interpreting that "F" word as the gay slur?

If so, what were they even basing that off of? The implication is that you had something LGBQT on your profile and this killer actually took the time to look you up and ruin your game based solely on your sexual preference. If that's the case that's the the most pathetic behavior I've seen in this game thus far.

I was playing with a friend, my friend is gay and had something about pride in their profile, so yea, they took the time to look at a profile and throw the match to kill someone based on their sexuality, also iri head / infantry belt huntress lol.

Like saying camping Dwight with the red cap is about trump/magazine hate?

    Or tunneling Claudette is racism?

Ya know those issues that we are clearly suffering from right now?

  • Member Posts: 2,719

That's really sad. "I hate this person's lifestyle SO MUCH that I will ruin both of our games just to stick it to them".

Wonder if the person was older than his teens.

Oh yea, mid 20s, the guy streamed and had it linked in their profile, once I got the email from BHVR saying they're 'looking into the matter' I went and peeped the stream and got to see his ban in his vod :) have it saved and everything.

Plot twist: "He let them go because they were LGBTQ+"

If people want LGBTQ characters in a horror game then they have to accept the fact some bad #@$% might happen to them.

We’ve accepted it. I’m not really seeing anything from anyone saying “oh I’m so worried about being focused down”. I’m seeing a lot more “I’m afraid I’m going to be reported if I tunnel someone with the charm on”.

I may well get tunneled because my my charm, if you can even see it under Felix’s jacket. Oh, well. If/when the harassment comes the chat afterward, I’ll just report and block. If the harassment doesn’t come afterward, I’ll have no idea if they were tunneling me to be a bigot or just tunneling me to be an #########. I’ll just swear at my computer screen and move on with my night.

    They don't.

change name to LGBTGUY and his tricks wont work on you

  • Member Posts: 593

This is why you don't promote sexuality in game or otherwise people aren't nice enough to leave it alone. And before anyone says I'm against the pride flags I am gay so that isn't the reason all im saying is pride flags are a good idea but wearing them in game is the same as wearing them out the house be prepared for homophobic slurs and unsportsman like behaviour.

  • Member Posts: 15,078

Yeah but that was Sony. That doesn’t have anything to do with the charm and Behaviour. Complain to Sony about that.

  • Member Posts: 15,078

To the topic: literally nothing has changed. Grieving and harassment has always been a reportable and bannable offense. Just like you could get banned if you singled out and targeted only characters that are people of color. That is no argument for exclusion of people of color however.

you won’t get banned without any evidence.

if you are worried about the upcoming new ban system, that has nothing to do with the pride charm or LGBTQ+ inclusion. That’s a whole different topic.

  • Member Posts: 1,147

The concern I’ve seen is more about people being reflexively reported by multiple people who just so happen to be wearing the charm. If x% of people wearing the charm report anyone who kills, camps, tunnels them (etc,) there’s a genuine risk of innocent killers (lol) being banned regardless of their actual intentions.

I doubt it will be an issue, but the concern makes sense.

  • Member Posts: 15,078

There is no risk for that. The current ban system doesn’t ban without concrete evidence

I'm going to close this here and explain once again that no bans will be filed without proof, targeted harassment has always been a rule in the game and it's not going to change for the presence of a charm.

Camping and tunneling are not reportable or bannable, so as long as you play within the game rules, you don't have to fear anything and if you have doubts in regards of the rules, please refer to this: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules
