How hard is it to do gens?

I'm sorry about adding to the pile of Solo Queue complaints, but this is the first time in awhile I've needed to vent about a match this bad.

Was there some secret nerf to Generators? They all now take 3.5 minutes to finish, but only when I'm getting chased?

I queue up with Two Claudettes and a Laurie. I am playing Steve. My perks were Plunderer's Instinct, Second Wind, Spine Chill, and DS. Playing against a Huntress. She only had Huntress Lullaby and Sloppy Butcher. On one of the Azarov's realms, I can't remember which.

The first 2 gens go by pretty fast. The Huntress gets one down and hook. One of the Claudettes. I save her, heal her up.

Huntress chases Laurie, but can't catch her. I find out later it's because Laurie threw nearly every damn pallet on the map.

Huntress finds the Claudie she already hooked, downs her. I'm on gen #3, and I see both Laurie and the other Claudette go in for the save. I pop Gen 3, and... Claudette's still hooked. The Laurie and the Claudette just stood there, watching because the Huntress was Proxy camping. Okay, that's my bad, I probably should've saved when I realised they didn't. Claudette #1 dies on second hook.

Huntress get's into a chase with Laurie, she throws God Pallet and goes down because she wasn't looking behind her. Hooked-in Basement. I'm on gen #4, but thinking she's not gonna get saved I go for it. She gets saved, and then immediately goes down. Probably on purpose, since she then DS'ed the Huntress.

But then she goes down immediately again... Okay, that's alright.

She's too far from the basement, so she's hooked in the Corner. I can tell this Huntress is new, she's scared to leave Hooks and can't really aim unless the Survivor is locked in animation.

She leaves the Hook, and I rush in for the save. I run towards Huntress to give Laurie some space to run away...

But instead, she hides behind the hook I just unhooked her from.

Laurie is killed.

Huntress sees me.

There are 2 generators left.

I have one other teammate, Claudette #2. Okay, I think, this isn't too bad. I'm pretty confident I can loop this Huntress.

And I did.

FOR 6+ MINUTES. The Huntress wasn't that great and had a bad habit of not breaking Pallets. I must've looped her around the entire map two or three times. I'm not some God-Survivor or anything, she just got ######### over by matchmaking.

How many gens were done in that time, you ask?

One.

A single generator. It popped around minute 3.5.

In six minutes, literally, most of the generators can be done. If it is one person, going from gen to gen. Huntress had no slowdown. This Claudette never even got hit.

She hooks me (after freaking out that she finally downed me, swinging and nodding) and starts proxy camping me. I see Claudette, and she is...

Crouching by an unfinished generator. Makes sense.

Figuring I've got no other chance, I go to kill myself. Maybe Claudette can escape.

Nah, I kobe. Can't even die right.

Huntress IMMEDIATELY comes back, (not like I blame her, if I chased a Survivor for that long I'd want them dead too) but I have the totally-not-mediocre perk, Second Wind. I heal mid-chase (Which I had admittedly done in my previous chase, in front of her face with a Med-Kit I'd gotten from a Chest.. She was giving me time, what else was I supposed to do?)

I loop her again, this time for only about a minute and a half. Ran into a Dead-zone, she downs me again. But, my DS ran out, so she hooks me.

This time, she just face-camps me. I wanna say, I'm not mad at The Huntress. She shouldn'tve gone against me, she was probably just as furious as I was.

And I will admit, I was petty. I could've killed myself, let Claudette get Hatch. No. I wanted her to die. Petty? Yes, but after doing a single gen in the now 8+ minutes I'd given her, I was a little salty.

So instead, she comes and farms me. She unhooks me, in front of the Huntress, and I am downed.

But Huntress wants her 4k. She slugs me, and downs Claudette #2 in about... 30 seconds.

She comes and picks me up first, however, and still having DS, I stun her. ######### it, I want as many points as I can possibly leech out of her. This time, I only managed to loop her for about 40 seconds. She ran around an L wall in a way I didn't expect, and that's it. I'm killed.

Huntress closes Hatch, and I left at that point.

Claudette #2, the one that was Generator-phobic? She was rank 10. Huntress was Rank 17. I was rank 10 as well at the time, but I probably belong in Purple Ranks. I've just only started playing Survivor again recently.

I can't stand Solo Queue. Again, honestly, not even mad at the Huntress. Most new players would've facecamped me the second they downed me the first time.

I do, however, loathe that Claudette with every single fibre of my being.

That's it, rant over.

Thanks for coming to my TEDTalk.

It's always fun seeing skittish survivors handle jumpscare Myers.

What I hate even more is when there is a flashlight hero chasing the killer every single time they’re in a chase with someone else.

For god sake do a gen. Attempt a save once someone is actually downed.

This is why the devs should stop balancing around bottom of the barrel survivors.

I think I still would've preferred that to what most of the survivors I get on my team do.

At least they're trying to do something and not just got crouching in because they heard one picosecond of a Lullaby.

    Imagine doing gens...

Impossible to do if you are solo que but they do themselves if you play killer. If you are looking to see gens get done I highly recommend playing killer at red ranks.

    Couldn't be me.

No, it literally couldn't be me, I'm getting face-camped.

Please get out of the corner.

Need that Self-Care value, sorry bro. Should have looped better smh.

    Oh boy, I know.

Played a game of Oni earlier on the Game. By the time I got a single hit, 3 generators were done.

Every Survivor knew how to loop and would Pre-Throw pallets so I couldn't get my power.

Today has not been a good day of Dead By Daylight

*Proceeds to Self-Care even though the killer has Sloppy Butcher*

The more generators get finished, the fewer generators the killer has to patrol, which gives them a stronger ability to control and slow down the game's progress (assuming your team doesn't know the map perfectly and leaves the last 3 generators at the far opposite corners of the map, like every SWF team does).

This is typically when the Killer is at their most impactful. This is also when Keys let survivors just skip the hard part of the game by sacrificing their solo queue guy and just all escaping through the hatch. Because, you know, it's okay to cut the game short for Survivors to skip the "killer is strong" part of the game, but it's not okay for killers to cut the game short by getting an early Mori off to skip the "survivors are strong" part of the game. Like how The Game was the stronger Killer map and it got reworked, but Haddonfield is the strongest survivor map and it's sitting untouched.

What you didn’t see is that it took her that long to get to the gen because she crouched walk to it. 😂

In all seriousness, I get what you mean. My problem is when I’m asking myself how come 2 gens pop when I get chased then when a teammate gets chased I barely even touch one cuz that’s how fast they go down. 🙄

How does the Laurie immediately go down but not get hooked in the basement again after DS'ing the Killer???

How exactly does the Huntress have a bad habit of not breaking pallets chasing you for 6+ minutes if Laurie threw all of them in the beginning of the game???

I get it there are a lot of bad players, but this makes no sense whatsoever.

I had a game the other day, I don't remember the other survivors but the killer was Wraith with brown addon that keeps his terror radius while cloaked, and he was running Distressing. We were on Haddonfield

Most of the time the killer would cloak and uncloak repeatedly and always kick gens giving people a huge amount of distance. But nobody did gens for some reason. I did 2 whole gens by myself, they were the first 2 gens to get done

During that time a few people get hooked but the killer didn't camp or anything, eventually someone gets killed and I start getting chased, after about 3 minutes of me being chased another gen finally gets done by somebody else, I basically ran back and forth between 2 pallets the entire time because he never tried to break them or mindgame

Eventually the killer gets bored and leaves me so I go back to a generator and manage to finish it, now we're down to 1 gen. Unfortunately it's a big hairy 3 gen and nobody else was doing gens during this time so they're all at 0

For about 5 minutes or so I have a back-and-forth with the killer of trying to do a generator, him kicking it, chasing me, and then running off to check the gen/other gens which nobody was doing (keep in mind 2 other people besides me are still alive)

I have no idea where the other people are or what they're doing but it's basically a 1v1. I eventually get the gen to like 90% and I try really hard to keep on it and finish it but I just can't because nobody is helping. Eventually the killer focuses me for a while and I go down and get hooked because he started playing a bit better and I made a few mistakes

One of them (I think a Claudette) finally saved me, but the other person (I think Ace) was being totally useless (they were wearing a P3 outfit btw) hiding in the corner

The Claudette that saved me vanished again and the gen was back to like 50% by now so I just let the killer kill me because the game was going way too long and I was bored as #########. They eventually killed the Claudette and guess what. THE KILLER LET THE USELESS GUY LIVE. Dude had literally about 5000 BP from escaping, everyone else had at least triple the score even though we all died and he lived

I had to take a break from survivor after that

    Run Bond.

Trust me it will turn you into a SWF only player seeing how incredibly useless teammates are even in red ranks. 90% of killer wins come from that one teammate who is just a complete moron not doing objectives or going for unsafe saves.

I don't really play SWF anymore, but I have absolutely no problem facing SWF because I'm aware of what a complete shitshow solo is.

My favorite is that one dude running around cleansing all the dull totems when 2 players are on their last hook and he hasn't even been hit yet.

Like, DUDE, dulls may as well not exist anymore since the Undying rework. And no self respecting killer in red ranks runs NOED anyway. STAHP

I bring kindred sometimes and I find it more annoying than helpful when you see someone being camped and the two other survivors just crouched near the hook not doing anything for the full 2 mins the other survivors on hook.

If you've got BT try and save but if not then get on a gen and punish them for camping.

I don't remember solo queue ever being so bad until recently. Ok I get if survivors are bad in chase (waste pallets/ go down fast), chasing can be difficult. But survivors that don't do gens while I loop the killer... what are they actually doing?

If they can't do gens when the killer literally isn't even near them, then how do they expect the game to end? Do they just wait to die and expect that that's how survivor goes?

    Blows my mind.
