Clarification on third party software game rules
I have a question about the "hacking" section of the game rules and I hope I can finally get a true answer from a mod. Is using a VPN a bannable offense? As far as I'm aware there is no definitive answer or clarification. There is a specific rule this would fall under, "Using 3rd party software or other tools to gain any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game, except if they have been whitelisted by us" so does it actually fall under that as a bannable offense or is using a VPN service whitelisted?

Don't.

Not sure. Even if it is it would be near impossible to prove. You will however ruin other peoples games(especially as killer) due to how high your ping might be. I would recommend not using it for that one purpose alone.

Not bannable, but you're a ######### person if you VPN for an advantage.

I rather let a moderator answer this question, but my educated guess would be "It depends on EAC's policy on the issue."
I know some individuals who use VPNs or Routing Services to deal with the ISP's garbage routing from their location to the game server. I use it at certain hours during the late night, because I end up getting placed into European servers from the East Coast. So, I route myself into West Coast servers to cut down the latency, because Europe Region has a wide selection of countries, including Russia.

Yeah I've a couple times and this time I really wanted a moderator to answer but I don't know if it warrants tagging a mod.

There's a difference between using a VPN to mitigate issues, and using it for an unfair advantage.

Well you could theoretically use hacks to "mitigate issues" and not to gain an unfair advantage but it's still bannable.

Perk icons are also bannable while stretched res isn't. What's bannable and what's not bannable doesn't really mean anything.

Well the point of the post is whether I should be reporting people who I suspect are VPNing to gain an unfair advantage or if i'm wasting my time by doing that. I guess I didn't really make that clear in the original post.

I'd do it just to get away from DDoS attacks.
Unfortunately, I've not figured out how to set up a VPN on Console.

Oh, I see. You're wasting your time. You can't prove that, and I don't even think you can get banned for it in the first place due to dbd servers not being global, forcing people in certain countries to VPN.

I mean you can't prove it by them repeatedly seeing where they connected from on the servers? I feel like it would be pretty obvious if you could view the technical data.

But you currently can't, or at least I don't think you can.
They shouldn't add it either, bc they will 100% ######### it up and make a gateway for hackers

Not to dissuade you from doing it, but here are some moments of me going against a Huntress who was using a VPN, their profile was completely in Chinese and they didn't say anything in the after-game chat. The blood spots in the air is where I was on her screen, the hatchets exploded like 6 feet away from my character and I went down both times.
It definitely gives you an unfair advantage, so much so that I think it should be bannable because it ruins games.

DDoS is a federal crime in the US and if I can avoid getting knocked offline, I will.
Hell, I'll even play perkless.
I just need my IP to move so I don't get booted offline because someone is upset.
