Perserver with Perks-a-Plenty to Pick!
Firstly, a mini-disclaimer: I am not for one minite going to pretend to know this was a 4-man SWF - I have no idea. Neither is this a gloat-post; I have had a number of 0k, as well as everything in the middle. And finally, this is just a round, and the result may have been different with the same map (Yamaoka), same people and same perks on a different day.
This is more to do with perks, and encouraging people that they can have a bit of fun and play around with them, yet still be possible to 'win'.
Now, I do use a randomizer for every match, so this explains why I had this God-forsaken selection of happiness. My add-ons helped probably more (with the exception of "Spies from the Shadows").
But basically, I just wanted to show this to newer or uncertain individuals who feel they need the best perks to get the best results. They do help, but they aren't required for a good game.
With enough practice and understanding of the killer, it is possible to make the most of any dire situation work.
There will be times when you're basically #########: The match before this I 0k against 2 keys and a Dwight that teabagged harder than I've seen anyone at the Exit gates (he may have been the Flash!). Honestly, I was impressed! I managed to get Brutal Killer, but it felt hopeless. I'm not sure any amount of perks would have helped me. Outplayed, simply!
However, this is just to say to people: Feel free to experiment! Have fun and don't think you need the meta to win. Practice will make you better, and you will fail sometimes, but that's okay. Just enjoy the game, focus on your skill-set and don't worry about anyone else. At the end of the day, everyone switches the game off to deal with everyday life, which is tough enough as is.
I wish you all well.

I always strongly encourage experimentation with perks. It helps a player learn many valuable skills.

Yep. I've seen and met many killer mains who struggle once they are forced to use anything other than BBQ + Pop or Ruin/Undying

I’ve repeatedly said on these forums that one of my favourite Clown builds is Coulrophobia, Deathbound, Forced Penance, and Sloppy. I do really well at red ranks with this build and a particular strategy.
Of course here I’m often not taken seriously at all.
I take the time to really understand a perk, and milk the most I can out of them. Even the pretty bad Furtive Chase can be used to quickly change targets mid chase at 4 tokens, and keep Survivors confused.
No perk is 100% complete rubbish. They just require methodical approaches.

Finally, another person who likes weird/non-meta builds. I have a similar build that I use on Doctor (Sloppy, Coulrophobia, Distressing, and then a slot for whatever I'm feeling like. But it's usually BBQ for the bloodpoints.) Then chuck on some Calm add-ons and the survivors are usually unable to heal for the whole match.
But ya know, it's DBD, tryhards will always stick to their BBQ/Ruin/Undying/x builds and never learn any other playstyle. I find it very boring and stale to always run the same build with same playstyle.

I'd love an alternativeversion of DBD where everything is randomised out of the pool of items and perks you have, with even the option of having a slot blank! It makes the game infinitely more entertaining.

Tbf, not everyone's situation is the same. Some people don't have much time to play DBD. To them, using the meta most of the time makes sense. They don't play enough for the meta to get stale and likewise, they don't play enough to warrant trying to experiment. No one wants to come home from a long day of work and get destroyed multiple games in a row because they mightn't be the best and need the meta perks to succeed. I agree that experimenting is a great idea though!

Wish a Randomizer was placed as a true in-game option. I wouldn’t mind going in with no idea of my Killer or Killer load out. I might accidentally discover something unique and fun or fall in love with a perk or killer I usually avoid for better more meta options.
Hard for me to go and purposely choose to be weak though, then it’s like asking to be bullied…but if it was random and out of my control, it’s just having fun trying to make good on a potentially messed up set of circumstances~

How are people supposed to have fun when they are playing against a wraith?

No dead hards in that game? That's a rarity.

There are a few randomizers out there. I use DBD randomizer from the playstore for mine, but have a look round!
