The old version looked like a weird mannequin with thinning hair. This one looks way more like JLC in motion, as seen in the video.

This is, for some reason, the first time I realized that we never got a Sidney. Why not?

They didn't get the actual rights to Scream, just the Ghost Face mask itself. Hence why it's technically an original character in the lore.

they dont remove it. The pics just doesnt show it since they are mostly in A pose or t pose.

With these images shown side-by-side it is kind of funny to me how very small details could really tick the rework even more closely to the source material. By making her lips a little less wide and her upper lip more prominent and her nose a little more narrow, especially at the nostrils, they'd actually have a pretty good JLC look-alike!

It makes me wonder if they legally can't make her look like JLC like some people are saying. Or alternatively it makes me think that they are just giving all of the Survivors the same treatment and are rushing these faces out. They said they were going to show 4 and then are tweeting like 8+ Survivors rapid fire...

Thin and wide lips, open mouth, smaller eyes, wider noses, smooth baby faces... It seems like they are all getting the same general idea of improvements. Or am I just overthinking this? 🤔

Oh right right, I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.

To be fair that picture is of JLC near the beginning of the film, whereas her in-game outfit suggests that they paid more attention to the character from later in the movie, where she's confronted by Michael (which is fine, it makes sense). She looks a little different later on in the movie, I just couldn't find many good shots that demonstrated this. By the end of the movie her hair is all wet and almost straight, her whole face looks different.

But yeah I don't quite understand it, I'd love to hear the story. By getting the Halloween license they got not only the music, which director John Carpenter himself composed, but also the famous mask, so in a way they got the likeness of William Shatner. At the same time they didn't appear to get Jamie Lee Curtis, who is not only the rare slasher heroine who has expressed great enthusiasm for her part in the franchise but is also apparently a gamer as well? I don't know what the problem would have been there, unless it was strictly financial.

Every person has likeness rights. When I did a behind the scenes thing for THQ I had to sign an NDA waiving mine, thus allowing them to use my likeness however they wanted, without compensation. It was a very one-sided contract (not that I'm complaining, I was treated fairly so it wasn't a problem, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't still one-sided). When someone is an actual actor in a widely recognized film you not only have to negotiate the rights with the studio that owns the rights to the film, but sometimes also the performers themselves. Actors have right to refuse how their images are used (see Crispin Glover vs. Robert Zemeckis) and studios even have the right to refuse names, locations, or anything that even comes close to resembling the IP that they own. Everyone has lawyers to determine how close someone can get before they're entering litigious territory. Things get even more complicated when an actor's likeness, and the likeness of a specific character that they played, are not necessarily considered the same thing legally.

Maybe Jamie Lee Curtis was fully on board, but Universal, who I believe owns the rights to the actual franchise, wasn't. Or the other way around. It's hard to say.

I'm hoping this means they plan on giving them all new facial expressions in-game instead of perpetual, emotionless expressions with a few moderate exceptions

it's a "work in progress",it's not finished,it can change obviously, hopefully the final version looks totally "Jamie Lee Curtis"otherwise she looks fine

Does anybody have an estimate of when we could see Laurie’s rework implemented into the game?

The nose is a tiny bit big compared JLC, but otherwise it's an excellent likeness.
