Writing and gaming: mechanical keyboard vs. chicklet keyboard
(First of all, sorry for my English. I'm not a native speaker, but I do hope everything is understable.)
I'm a freelance writer and a gamer. I think I spend as much time writing than gaming. I'm thinking about replacing my current keyboard, which is a Logitech MK470. I love it, even if I could use a smaller keyboard—without the number pad, that I don't use very often.
I love the chicklet keys from the MK470. It's very nice to write with, but less to play with. I sometimes feel I need to press the key harder to make it works while I play, where I have no issues while I write.
I was looking for the Razer BlackWidow V3 mini hyperspeed. The size is perfect, I like its look but... It's mechanical. I'm afraid to lose the comfort I have with chicklet keys while I write.
Writing isn't only my job, it's also a passion. I don't want to lose it because I have a tool which makes it less comfortable... (If it makes sense.) So, if you guys love to write and play video games as I do, could you tell me what kind of keyboard you use? Do you think writing with a mechanical keyboard isn't as terrible as I'm picturing it? If you went from a chicklet to a mechanical keyboard, did it take time for you to get used of it?

@riyasız Thanks for your answer. It depends, sometimes, my character starts to walk instead of running and I feel it's because I didn't push the button enough hard. I'll look into the SteelSeries keyboard—I already got a headphone from SteelSeries, it's a brand I trust. Could you tell me the name of the one you use? I'd like to watch reviews on YouTube. : )

I'm a bit of a fan of mechanical keyboards for gaming I must admit. And I've got used to them for writing now, although that did take me a bit longer and I think I did lost a bit of typing speed when using it compared to the chicklet keyboard that I used to use. There's so many choices of switches and some of them do work really well with typing, Logitech & SteelSeries do seem to have some decent ones, and I agree about SteelSeries, they're a personal favourite of mine.

@MandyTalk Thanks for your answer! I'll definitvely look into SteelSeries. I do hope they have 60% or 65% keyboard—I prefer my keyboard being small. : )

@riyasız Yes, exactly, I use my pinky finger. I can't use my thumb tho, it's on the complete opposite side! I have an Azerty keyboard (I'm French), but I think the shift key is the same for Qwerty as well.
If I use my thumb, it means I have to move my hand from my directional keys (Z, Q, S and D)... How do you do? 🙈
Yeah, when I checked SteelSeries shop, there was nothing but mechanical keyboards, and not the small ones I'm looking for unfortunatelly.

There is definitely one of them that doesn't have the numberpad on the side which makes the keyboard smaller -

Yes, but it's still too big for me. If you compare it to the Rog Falchion or the BlackWidow V3 mini, it's super big! 🙈

So, I finally ordered the Asus ROG Falchion, a 65% mechanical keyboard. I can't wait to receive it. Thank you for your answers, it helped me a lot to make my decision!
