Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Seriously, turn off the particle animations and emission stuff. PLEASE

Been talking to some friends who do computer animation and we come to the conclusion that the most likely culprit for the performance issues, overheating, console bricking and glitches are badly done particle animations and emission lighting (which especially the new map has a ton of).

A state-of-the-art looking game is nothing if it's not playable.

So, please, for the love of everything holy and unholy, turn off the particle animations etc and rework them from the ground up so that they don't gobble up resources like that. other games can do that, why not dbd?

The particle effects are definitely a huge culprit, especially the fog itself. The asset they're using could be low-res (I really hope it is) and it would still eat up processing power. The sparks, impact, blood and various sprays (that are hopefully just hi-res assets and not looped physics assets, I've seen that happen before) should really be toned down and, above all, the code needs seriously cleaned up becuase that's where we're getting a lot of CPU usage from.

Given the behavior of blood, sparks etc, and lately nemesis' whip and the blue stuff on the survivor models, i would say it's looped 50% asset the other 50%.

this game feels like the devs just throw stuff at the wall and don't wait to see what sticks
