Remember when DBD was just a little game
It might sound a little harsh but ever since this game has started growing, the Devs have lost communication with the community. I still remember those weekly Devs streams we would get and they would answer a few questions from the community, It was always fun to watch and it actually felt like you were part of a community.
The old events we had: Lunar new year 2018, Scorching Summer BBQ and 2018 Halloween events (I don’t get to play the 2017 or 2016) were some of the best events I have experienced. Nothing can compare to those. Good old margarita gens and milking those pestula plants. Seemed like all they had in mind was having fun and the atmosphere We would get 2 cosmetics, 1 for each side, so little yet so simple.
No BP (Rift), no Cosmetics shop (only though events) or free outfit, 3 pieces from a DLC. Detective Tapp was the last one to get this treatment.
Now it seems we have lost the simplicity that DBD was. Now we have DBD 2 if we are being honest. Kinda sad how this game has turned for the worse and turn into hot garbage. Nobody asked for graphical updates and nobody asked for a BP (The Rift). I really don’t like the direction they are turning this game and seems to me that they are pushing the veteran players and long time players away. I really don’t know how to end this, I just wanted to share my thoughts.
Someone is definitely making some poor decisions at BHVR.

I am glad to see someone who thinks the same as I do :)
At this point, as I've said on some other threads, I just want to go back to a better time. I even have a few versions in mind.

The summer BBQ event was so fun! I miss these gens..

For those of us who have been here for years, it’s kinda bitter sweet to see where this game has gotten to
4 -
In my honest opinion, to see this game in its current state is as your name says. Agonizing.

I wish I was here for those times. I started when DemoDoggy was introduced, so I missed out on a lot of things. I'd love for them to release an old school mode so we can try it out, even temporarily.

I still have those BBQ envelopes in my offerings. I still have a little hope that I would get to see those gens one more time :’)

Would be cool if we got a limited time event offering where we can visit the old Realms but they probably don’t exist anymore.
3 -
Yes! I've actually suggested that on another thread, and I would most certainly love it.
And by the way, thank you so much for making this thread. It feels like home to me.

No problem!! I am glad I am not the only that feels this way. We just want the best for the game that’s all :)

Yeah gameplay and horror themes drawed me in, couldn't care less about "graphics".
Hotline miami 1 and 2 are one of my favorite games because of the gameplay, story and music. And people who know about hm know how simple it looks.

Indeed, my friend! We old fashioned players truly are the Fog's finest. Just like you said, we just want the game to be as good as it once was.
And now the memories are coming in, as they should. I first started playing DBD during the last Winter Solstice event, back in 2018. That theme alone was enough to send my shivers down my spine. If I could I most certainly would return to that version or, preferably, further in the past.

My first event was the summer bbq and then the OG blight event. It just doesn’t hit the same anymore

Hallowed Blight will always be my favorite event. The new objective, ways to unlock outfits without Auric Cells, actual gameplay changes...I miss all that and like you said, I miss old DBD.
It honestly feels like the devs don't care as much as they did about the community anymore. They used to be very transparent and honest but now I just see the same copy and pasted response.

"I miss old DBD."
So do I, my friend. So do I.

Don't get me wrong, I like all the chapters we have been getting (minus the bugs and other stuff) as well as the graphical reworks but the lackluster events and rift between the devs and playerbase is just disheartening.
The only thing I'm still "excited" for is the Archives since I love learning about the lore in this game.

Well, I don't. I despiste the Realm Beyond with a burning passion. And, while I do like some of the new chapters, I can easily live without them if that means returning to a better time.

I completely forgot about the Winter Solstice event. We got cheap 3,000 mystery boxes it was fun! It made prestige a lot easier to grind for. Yes, The theme was great.
If theres one thing we got out of the updates/Chapter is that the majority of the DBD themes are insanely good.
1 -
Indeed. I still have one of those boxes in my Dwight's Bloodweb!
That is, without a doubt, the best event I've experienced.

Oh sorry I wrote that wrong, I meant the Killer and upcoming Survivor graphical reworks, not the map reworks. I swear those updates either made the lighting more terrible than it already was or made the maps just not fun in general cough AUTOHAVEN AND THE GAME cough
1 -
Oh, I see. Well, I am not that excited for them either, but they are not the worst possible changes.
As for The Realm Beyond itself, that thing is a monster. It destroys what we love while failing to address the few actual issues that remained.

Totally agree, Badham is still an awful, awful map.
2 -
Precisely. Not to mention the maps that changed for the worse.

I still remember when SB was 5 seconds and using STBFL plus Unrelenting was a machine gun build that would annihilate anyone XD

I had to check the wiki when I read your comment. No history of a five second Sprint Burst!

The original SB was 5 seconds before being reduced to 3 seconds. You can watch it in very old DBD videos.

I remember it well, I remember everyone in rank 1 recognizing each other even if you didn't swf for survivor and killers, good times.
1 -
That was really interesting. A few months ago, I've faced a killer that I met back in 2018 (when I first started playing) and we recognized each other. It was a very fun and nostalgic experience.
