Is everyone training for a tournament today?
I am currently in the process of collecting and escaping with a crown as Yui (who does not have the best perks or items) and I believe that I have versed against 17 killers total who played an A Tier and above killer with meta perks and their best addons.
I am fine with using the best loadout, I have done that too believe it or not, but it is pretty much impossible for me to escape

Just killers using opportunity to prevent survivors from getting event cosmetic.

Its both sides atm sadly.

I have been using survivors with no real perks (I started prestiging people starting at the top; seemed like a good idea at the time!!!) so I absolutely feel your pain here.
That said, while I'd love to get killers who just kind of lay back play so I can do my thing, get bp, and go, I don't fault players who are just playing as normal. People going out of their way to ruin the event for people can take a long walk off a short plank but I can't really fault people for playing the game.

It used to be when there was an event where everyone could get free cosmetics everyone would work together until the community got them. Sadly those days seem long over.

I’ve had some games where I played less than scholarly but I let the twinkling ones go. Even the TTV ones which I never give hatch.

Give over. Just because a killer uses good perks and add ons doesn't mean they are on an "anti crown" mission. Survivors need to get a grip.

OMG the killer is... killing survivors?!
The nerve of some people.

I played a whole lot the past few days, here is my experience:
1) I've run into more chill killers than normal. There still are some sweaty ones, but I've encountered less than I would normally expect (in high purple- low red ranks).
2) I've encountered more chill survivors than normal (in red ranks)
3) I've encountered more super sweaty SWFs than normal
4) I've reported more survivors for coms abuse than I would normally see in a couple of months. Seriously, EGC has been bad, people have resorted to "creative" spelling to dodge the chat filter. No killers have been reported so far.
5) Matchmaking has been more consistent with ranks being in/near the same color groups.

I have only been playing Trapper with Padded Jaws (causes traps to not damage survivors) and a brown bag. By the time I finish setting up a few traps, with Corrupt Intervention active, and get into my first chase, 3 gens are popped. 4 gens are done by the time I get my second or third down. Only one group of survivors indicated they wanted to take it easy and farm blood points, everyone else wanted to be out of the match asap. Only thing that worked is just hauling the rushers into the basement and never letting them out.

It's been an increase in killers going extra hard, and it's noticeable they target the original survivors not wearing 5th year crown cosmetic. Survivors are going extra hard to escape, especially the ones trying for crown that are now more likely to hide for hatch or bring key. Usually it's not nearly every match you have killers and survivors playing like this. Same thing happened last year and once event was over everyone chilled out.

Regardless of how you feel the killer's job is to kill.
It's literally in the name of the role.

I tend to kill anyone not sparkling (or who is wearing the crown). If you find the crown; I won't kill you.
But you only have until 2 gens pop before I will start trying harder, because the last time I played nice; the Survivors thought they were being skilled and decided to deride me in the end game chat.
'Noob baby lost me mid-chase!' No, I literally turned around and walked away because you were running towards the crown's area, and I wanted to give you the crown. I turned around when I was 2 feet behind you. You did not juke me. I would have had to go blind to lose you legit.
'Scrub can't kill!' No, you had sparkles, and I did not want to take that away from you. So I smacked you, but never hooked you, on the off-chance that your team would not save you.
So yeah; I'll be nice, to a point. But whenever you see a Killer 'tryharding' 'sweating' and 'being mean'; don't forget to give half the blame to your fellow Survivors. It's 50/50 on if they are trying to make you unhappy, or if they had the altruism crushed out of them by toxic Survivors and just play the game to win now.

I never said their job isn't to kill or that they shouldn't. Question was why are they playing like they're in a tournament, I gave reason why they're playing harder than they normally do.

Killers could take it a little easy since there is an event going on, but so far I only found one that decided to farm at 1 gen, it was a Nurse and she knew there was no way for her to win, so she decided to farm to get some points. Other than that, all killers I have faced are playing the exact same as every other day, with best perks, add-ons and no mercy...

And it's the survivors job to survive. That doesn't mean either side has license to be an ass about it.

Yep. Getting the crowns for my survivors has not been a very fun experience for me. Wearing the ones I do have now feels like just a reminder of how much of a terrible time I had getting them.

And how's that surviving going for them?

Killers don't have to change their behavior because of the event, I know that. The difference is, for people trying to get the crowns, the killers could just go to a pedestal, get the crown and go AFK for the rest of the match. Survivors can't do that, they have to survive, so that is why they can't take it easy if the killer doesn't also take it easy or else they end up dying and having to try again for the crown.

What does that have to do with my point?

Seems to be both sides at the moment. Played a bit last night and this morning and eventually said "ok, double recharge Nurse it is. Good luck!"
