can dc penalities be back already? survivors are getting too childish and dc too often now
I can't tell much about the killer side since I don't play survivor has much but on my side as a killer there's at least 1-2 dc every 2-3 games, will we have to wait till mid chapter for them to be enable again?

It's pretty frustrating when I use a cake and then two survivors DC when I get my first down. Or when the same thing happens except it's my teammates that nope right out, and on this side, I don't get the benefit of being able to go "okay, guess we're farming now."
Definitely noticed an uptick of ragequits since the DC penalty - not just from survivors, but killers too, when the start of the game doesn't go their way or when Lethal Pursuer shows tough spawns. I've started reporting quitters when I didn't bother to before because it's just that obnoxious and the constancy with which people are doing it is horribly disruptive.

there was one a 5 cake match on my end, got 1 guy with trickster with lucky/unlucky spawn and downed the guy in 25 seconds after the match starting, him and his buddy dc instantly, 5 cakes.

Theres been a lot of extra ####### killers lately since the event started so dont be surprised and dont take it personally. Theyve probably just had it with bad matches and are quitting at the first sign things are going south. Theyve probably already given the benefit of the doubt that it wont be a horrible match enough to where theyll bounce at the first sign of trouble now. Maybe not your fault but how are they to know you arent going to just facecamp or tunnel them all?
8 -
I guess so, but well usually good rank 1s don't have to do that unless you KNOW there's someone around since you saw them.

My last match was the same thing with 4 cakes. Nemesis, Disturbed Ward, ran into a Feng on my way to break the wall in the asylum. I hit her and she flubbed her speed boost by running into a wall. Suddenly it's a two-man match 45 seconds in.
I mean, by that logic, why even start a game if you can't be sure the killer isn't going to facecamp or tunnel you? You could at least wait for the killer to hook you and see if they stay around the hook or not. I totally understand people leaving once the killer's shown themselves to be a facecamper or the type to hard tunnel their first victim out of the game, but it is always someone leaving on their first down. (Or their third, but that's more self-sabotaging than anything else. Five times so far during this event, somebody has DCed when I was about to pick them up and take them to the gate, or if the game wasn't over yet, to my totem.)
People who quit if their early game doesn't go perfectly are a.) contemptible for trying to cherry-pick their games and b.) screwing over the rest of their team routinely over a minor slight. Which is the part I get really mad about. A survivor quitting takes the rest of their team down with them and dooms them to very few points and a quick death unless the killer takes pity on them. People who are willing to do this to their teammates on the regular don't deserve any consideration, because they're not willing to give it to anyone else.

Here's the thing, as someone who has been playing this game since 2017, and with the state of the game's optimization on older gen consoles (and before we get into that argument - no, not everyone can afford a brand new PC or the new consoles; and the old consoles do just fine with other games that require higher graphics - rust console edition, overwatch, dark souls, etc.), it's a real issue right now. Honestly, the fact that the wraith uncloaking causes a survivor to freeze for a solid 5 seconds without freezing the wraith is a real problem. I'm not even kidding you - I play both sides, and I have honestly stopped playing wraith right now to save people that hassle. It's extremely unfair and a load of BS. It gets worse when you add on that Sloppy Butcher always had issues with optimization where it would always lag ALL survivors on old gen consoles regardless if they were the one hit or not when someone was injured; now, you can add any perk that adds a status effect - thanatophobia, hysteria, to name a few. It even lags skillchecks - legitimately. I have had it where a skillcheck comes up and I go to hit it, and then a survivor is injured with sloppy, and even if I hit the skillcheck just fine, it lags past and blows the gen. So, it's not surprising that many people are DC'ing right now.
Furthermore, there has been a LOT more sweat since Nemesis came out. I can tell you right now, I can pick a rank 1 killer out right away based solely on perks, as many can, and it's just not fun being slugged at 5 gens. I know it's a play style, but when you get game after game after game of that...survivors get annoyed and when they're on their 5th game of it, they tend to DC. I'm not disagreeing with the amount of DC's nor am I disagreeing that the penalty needs to come back, but I do think there is a legitimate reason behind it. You have to remember not to take it personally and if it's really bothering you, as well all know, Mathieu Cote said it himself - go play a different game for a while, maybe go outside (I'm being heavily sarcastic here towards Cote).

Penalties should be tougher then they used to be. Five minutes is nothing, there needs to be an actual punishment for ruining the match for four other players.
One of my friends is a chronic DCer, and it irks me to no end.
6 -
There is a penalty that increases - it's 5 mins for the first two DC's, then it continually goes up - 10 mins, 15 mins, 30 mins, etc. If your friend is a chronic DCer, don't play with them. Find someone else.

Yes, I'm aware. I'm saying its not enough.

Was playing a game as Wraithearlier and... the offerings were Escape Cake, Anniversary Cake, and Anniversary Cake(Mine).
As I'm running around the map cloaked looking for survivors, one DCs. After a few moments, another DCs.
I was going to kill them all to punish that one survivor bringing the Escape Cake but farmed with the two who stayed and just so happened to be the ones who gave offerings.
Don't know why the DCs happened. Could be because of the Wraith. Maybe they wanted more Cakes. Iunno.
So many DCs over stupid ass ######### tho recently.

Yeah, I think the dc penalty needs to come back now. I haven't heard of any crashes as of lately, only survivors and killers disconnecting on purpose so they don't have to play.

Spirit = Easy Dc

Really? I still crash on the Switch. It loves to do that at the end of the game, where it hurts no one but me and that'd be doubly so if the DC penalties were active because the penalties don't take context like crashes or the match being essentially over into account.

Ngl, after I said that I've now heard of 2 crashes that have happened on Switch. I play on switch and I was in a round where someone crashed at the end of the game tonight.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with that. I didn't get the game on Switch until after the RE chapter was released, so I don't know if this is a long-standing issue or not. I hope it gets fixed sooner rather than later, though. It doesn't happen often, but when it does happen it really sucks.

Yo that's not cool. In my like 25 games today I had 2 killer rage quits and 0 survivor DCs. I definitely do not agree with this.
2 -
didn't play a while, DC penalty was removed?

Yesterday: killer was Wraith on Lerys with 4 cakes.
The moment he hit someone, 2 survivors disconnected. Then they proceeded to leave toxic messages on the killers profile, who was kindly enough to let us go.

Crashes definitely happen more often on switch then other platforms but still a very rare occurrence, it's definitely still happening more than usual. I want to say, I've had 2 crashes prior to the RE chapter since the beginning of 2021. I think up to now we're probably looking at 30-40 times I've crashed, personally I haven't crashed much since 5.0.2 came out, maybe once.

Resident evil chapter release practically broke the game on consoles.
Crashes and several second long freezes on hitting as the killer or getting hit, using powers/perks and so on.

Really not been my experience, probably seen 1/10 games end via killer DC in my survivor games. (and nearly all of those being in the first 30 seconds or so of the game, either the killer didnt like the map or spawns etc) whereas in my killer games i would say 75% or more have had at least 1 survivor DC at some point in the game.
They both suck, but at least killer DCs end the game for everyone, wheras Survivors leave the remaining 4 people to have 5-10 minutes of an unfun game that nobody should feel good about winning or losing.

I haven’t seen a huge amount of DC’s myself however it’s not surprising if after 1 DC the rest of the survivors follow. If a teammate DC’s less than 60 seconds into the match and there’s no gens done/the killer has Ruin then I just dip too. No point in turning it into a 3V1 unhook simulator. My Survivor queues are 10 seconds right now so if a teammate leaves early i’d rather leave too and queue for another match.

For any who are curious, this is the lag that console players are dealing with that often leads to DCs: https://clips.twitch.tv/ToughVibrantStinkbugPogChamp-lqx62TdVYRA7fm30
When we are picked up, it lags like this. Other instances it happens: unhooks, status changes (sloppy butcher, thanatophobia), killer picking a survivor up, etc.

As long as consoles are having issues, the DC penalty should stay off.
Also, there should NEVER be a DC penalty if the map is RPD.

I played mostly survivor the last 4-5 days and the killers would quit constantly. We always bust out laughing when it happens "can't catch me here have a pallet to the face" DC. 3 gens pop with no hook.......DC.

It's not difficult to tell when someone leaves the game due to a disconnect versus when someone ragequits. Ragequits always happen coincidentally after a trigger event (losing a chase, getting DSed, losing a hex, failing a flashlight save and getting downed instead, etc) instead of in the many random downtime moments during a match, and you'll see them stop moving/struggling for a couple of seconds before neatly disappearing. Actual crashes tend to continue carrying on their last reported input for several seconds before dipping out - they'll walk into a wall, or keep healing/repairing, or teleport around and be stuck in a time loop.

I knew this was gonna happen and as soon as they turn it back on youre gonna see threads of survivors complaining about "crashes". Survivors will DC for pretty much anything these days. Dc penalties need to come back asap.
2 -
IDC what killers I go against or what survivors do, but if I get RPD I DC.

they do need to come back

Seriously, i just had a match where all my teamates dced. I still got out, but thats not th point.
2 -
yeah, pretty much any time i down more than one person at the same time, at least one of the downed ragequits.
of course they all have flashlights and try to go for the save (which is the thing that gets them killed in the first place btw)
