Stop taking my items for people's disconnects
OK is it just me or is there no logical reason to take my cake and my items when a survivor or killer disconnects during loading? This is becoming a common problem, and I really think they need to make this right.

To my knowledge, you don't lose anything as long as it disconnects during loading. It might disappear from your character's equipment but the item/offering itself just went back into your pile, not burned.

Strange, you shouldn't because other items don't do that.

I just disconnected a game before it loaded (back to your lobby Survivors who aren't bringing any cake for Myers!)
My Cake is still there in my inventory waiting for me to eat it. So...IDK :D
EDIT: Guess not! It's gone. That was weird but no more cake for The Shape I guess :(
Until I open a new bloodweb of course. Cakes for killers!!!! NOM NOM NOM!!!!!!

It depends on when the DC happens is what I was told. If another player is already doing the load-in pan around, and DCs, everyone loses their Offerings even though it looks like you lost it when on the Load screen.
Not sure if it's true or not, but it seems likely. I've lost Offerings on DCs a couple times, and kept them a few more times. Although doublecheck when you get back to your Inventory screen because your Offering slot will be empty, it's just been returned to your character's inventory.
