(IMPORTANT) SAVE SCREENSHOTS OF YOUR CHARACTERS LEVELS
apparently there's this thing again that BHVR lost the data of thousands of players, some of my friends included, the customer support team is refusing to do anything to solve it because there aren't screenshots of previous proofs no matter if you have devotion 3000, your characters can be reset all to level 1 without prevention, so better save screenshots of the full screen including all characters

Some people have had all their characters reset to level 1 because of a bug and BHVR doesn’t have the data to know which characters you levelled up.

Someone on Reddit said that a few years ago they used to copy save file to be on the safe side, because they didn't get the support they needed.
I'm scared to check my game now.

I've seen several posts on the DbD subreddit about this issue. I'm so bummed to those that are affected by it. One thing I've noticed at least from the posts I've read on the subreddit is that most of them have been PC.
Also, another thing to note - some of them did the BHVR account so maybe that's one of the triggers?

Afaik they keep track of everything, from items on the inventory to prestige levels on individual characters and the total amount of bloodpoints earned for each account. How else would they ban people for hacking this sort of stuff. There's also no way for us to backup our save files like back in the day either so it'd be pretty dumb if they didn't have something for the eventuality of this happening.

I dunno if it's wishful thinking or what, but considering they already save a "snapshot" from a while back for people to use on the PTB, I'd imagine if someone is suddenly devotion 0 full reset and there's a PTB save file where they're devotion 7... surely they could roll back to that if everything else fails? I mean I'd certainly hope so.

I'll wait until BHVR release any information regarding this. If it's a data breach, they'd have to announce it and quickly. Hearing something from a friend about it isn't enough evidence to panic, especially since this sort of story has been used previously in gaming and proven false.
If someone from the team could shed some light on here, that would be appreciated.

If they could save what people had before, they wouldnt have given 100M bloodpoints back in 2017 instead of backing up the old data, same still goes on today but apparently we need to save proofs 24/7

yeah back in 2017 people had to back up their own data in their pcs, it's not like that anymore, it's all server side.

they keep same devotion just every character has level 1 and no items, cosmetics are kept tho.
They have sepparated servers for data, one for live servers and other for PTB (if you're lucky to be in PC) but still ask you for proof like???

Do you lose cosmetics? And auric cells etc.? Getting BP back usually isn't an issue when it comes to the devs they're usually pretty fair with that but as for auric cells and real money that much more of an issue

That's unusual, iv had friends on different platforms and they usually get a bunch of bp back to relevel their characters. Usually if you provide play time or bp earned they will give you it again. Although it will take you days to respend all that bp especially of you're in the billions earned lol

I luckily didnt get any progression reset because I played Resident Evil 2 and 3 the entire weekend but friends and reddit/twitter people did

No one from BHVR has commented in this thread, and should people really take something as fact just because it's bad for the devs, without thinking about it?

Reddit post... yeah... Twitter post... yeah. I'll believe it if it happens to me. There's been so many rumors and gossipmongering bullshit posted on those places that even if they said the sky was blue with fluffy white things floating in it I'd still look outside and make sure.
As far as I know they keep backups on their end of things now, in part so that people have a harder time hacking.

Tells me nothing, other than one person has shared a screen. I am not saying it's not happening, but I'll wait for an official word. There have been too many dodgy claims and I like to wait for more than a singular piece of evidence.
Should more people experience this, then that's a thing to check. Until then, we don't know if this is a hack of thousands, or simply an attack on your friend.

I usually only lurk, but this issue needs to be addressed ASAP!
This happened to me a while back. Game crashed one day. Verified game files, reinstalled Easy Cheat, and loaded it back up. Everything progress wise was gone. All prestige, all character levels, all items and perks gone. Customer Service was nice, but their hands were tied by management. I was absolutely livid.
The going compensation is 60K Blood Points/ hour you have logged into the game. That's it. A simple google search will reveal this is no secret..

I lost so much progress, because I played more during Anniversary, Blood point events, BP offerings, and I always used WGLF and BBQ. All that grinding gone.
What's worse, it took me almost 6 HOURS total to spend the blood points. I tried to take it easy, leveled a character up and tried to play and occasionally spend my BP. Then I hit the 1 million BP cap. So I was basically forced to sit at the blood web for hours to spend all the compensated BP. I also had to do it in a certain order because there were more character perks now, and I didn't want to flood the blood web with garbage perks. I had to secure my mains first.
After I spent all the compensated BP, I was nowhere near where I was in terms of character levels. It took me months, almost half a year worth of playing to even get close to where I was.

If any BHVR staff reads this, I implore you to try this. Spend 100 million BP on the blood web in your own game. See how long and painful it is. Now imagine being a paying consumer for that experience as opposed to being paid to endure that nonsense. Why do perks still have tiers?
This issue needs to be priority 1 for BHVR. More resources need to be allotted to a reliable back up of our progress. It is absolutely unacceptable they were unable to even pull up what progress I made on their end. It's 2021, data storage is cheap!
I would have happily taken a rollback in my progress from a month prior, but nope. They evidently do not keep backup data of any kind. Either that or they were unwilling to help me aside for the paltry sum of Blood Points. Are the Blood Points backed by gold or something? Why compound your consumer's stress by being stringy with the compensation?
I'm not angry at you BHVR, just disappointed.
