This PTB *sigh* I just have no words. BHVR being BHRV once again
Latency
Now I don't want to get too excited but APPARENTLY, they are going to be fixing some issues with latency. Now I can feel that they are just going to make it worse. I don't want to be a negative nancy but I still have PTSD from that one midchapter where they changed the animations and somehow made latency 1000x worse. I have a feeling they are going to do it again.
Iron will buff!?
Why would they buff Iron Will to counter spirit with stridor? Just nerf spirit directly. I know for a fact they buffed it because of spirit. Why else would they?
They buff perks to counter one killer. When they do this it can harm other killers' playstyles. Now, I may be wrong but I'm 99.9999% sure they did this because of spirit.
Trickster.... 🤦♀️
Bruh why just why. This just makes him so much more annoying to play against in a chase. I don't understand. I have seen so many posts about suggestions on how to make him better without making him more annoying but nope, they just didn't care and didn't take feedback. The only thing they took feedback on was to buff trickster and didn't listen
Disclaimer: I understand this is the ptb and things can change

Stridor only used by Spirit.
So the so called IW "buff" only effect affects no skill Spirit mains.
12 -
Don't forget Freddy's Jump Rope addon, which is now even more useless.
21 -
Nobody unironically used that add-on beyond the first day so I doubt there's many conaints clamoring about how such a useful add-on has now been butchered.
22 -
Doesn't change the fact that nerfing a Killer by buffing a survivor perk, which affects other Killers, is a bit questionable.

Trickster is the new Deathslinger now. Yay :/

Name another killer that uses Stridor.
Hell I play Spirit and can't stand using Stridor. It's such an overrated perk for her. It makes judging distances of survivors while phasing much harder, it's basically only good for initially locating an injured survivor when you've lost them, it's like a slightly better Whispers.
0 -
One more time, the sole fact that there's addons on other Killers that counter Iron Will, makes the change silly. Spirit needed a change, yes, but it shouldn't impact other Killers, that's all I'm saying.
5 -
How are they add ons that 'counter Iron Will'?
They're add ons that increase the volume of survivors, if anything Iron Will is meant to counter those add ons.
It's like how Distortion can counter All Seeing Blood or Scratched Mirror.
7 -
And now, due to a poorly executed Spirit nerf, it does so across the board. That just doesn't sit right with me.
5 -
It's not a Spirit nerf, it's an Iron Will buff, and so it has the consequences of buffing Iron Will, not nerfing Spirit.
It doesn't nerf my Spirit at all because I don't use Stridor.
15 -
Nurse's spoon addon was pretty good though, was basically playing with 5 perks, now that one's butchered too
But overall i agree: BHVRs way of solving problems seems to never actually address the real issue. Spirit is still spirit, trickster will be just even more boring to face, and i won't believe the pallets thing is fixed until i see it with my eyes. We already see how hit validation is "working as intended" while killers with 479284849 ping are still highly advantaged
4 -
I mean, you've all been crying about "Stridor Spirit" for so long, anyone would think that the problem was in fact with Stridor.
Like I said, I've always thought Stridor was overrated, but it's always "Stridor Spirit" people throw out there as the bane of all survivors this game. Is it any surprise the devs ended up thinking the thing to nerf was Stridor?
2 -
Naw, Slinger still takes some skill. Trickster is still typically quantity over quality
9 -
It's a Stridor Spirit nerf, there's no denying it. Though my favourite theory is that they couldn't fix the Bite the Bullet under Stridor bug, so this is the result.
1 -
When it comes to "annoying to go against" - yes. But, the big difference is that Slinger at least can miss and will have to reload. With Trickster, you just have to hit 12 out of 60 knives to down someone. And getting a few knives in while someone is vaulting a Pallet or Window is easy.
6 -
This is probably much more likely.

Annoying to fight and OP aren’t the same thing
12 -
Not to mention that sometimes slinger can’t even get the down after hitting the shot due to the map or bodyblocking
2 -
That's how this killer is meant to be, just like deathslinger
0 -
That’s why I’m annoyed. Despite all the feedback and general negativity about killers like slinger we just keep getting new ones
3 -
Take advantage of his abysmal slowness
0 -
Right... so now the Spirit must somehow track survivors she cannot see, and also cannot hear... whilst also not being able to see scratch marks or blood.
Exactly how is this killer meant to do anything then?
Where are you all the survivor mains who cry out "what is the counter???" when it comes to this BS? How does one counter iron will now?
1 -
What by holding W and putting objects in the way. Sounds like fun!
3 -
Adept Nurses or people who were annoyed with Iron Will.
I also do not get the complain that Deathslinger takes no skill. Quickscoping and ranged shots are pretty difficult to hit on moving targets. Even if you consider him a hitscan and not a projectile hero you should know this from other shoter games that playing hitscan can be quiet hard.
Also there is counterplay to him. Stealth is quiet viable and makes a 110 killer wast tons of time.
Not that I do not agree that a different buff to trickster would have been nice. A slight buff to his chase was also needed. Trickster takes less skill than Slinger or huntress, sure. However he can still be outplayed and you should wait for the final version when he comes off the PTB.

How should a killer chase in order to amuse survivors?
0 -
Best examples of fun chase killers are huntress, blight and billy. All of these three are strong but give survivors info and options in order to counter them
Huntress has a long windup and charge time. If you are in the open and the hatchet is fully charged you’re dead but you are given time to escape. Compared to trickster where dodging is meaningless since he throws so many and he has a very short windup
Blight counters holding W and can deal with most loops if played well. Using windows effectively and taking tight corners can mess him up
Billy can chew through pallets but struggles at windows if played well by the survivor. If the survivor messes up then they get instadowned
Compare this to trickster or PH. Once you get to a window against PH he can just fake his power and get a hit or if you vault just using POTD to get the hit. Trickster is just you finding a high wall loop and wasting time until he eventually downs you
4 -
Not all killers have to be like Huntress Billy or Blight, it is nice to have different types of killers
2 of these killers are powerless against loops
I find PH more fun to play against than Blight, but that's a personal thought
1 -
How are blight and billy powerless at loops? Watch any high level blight or billy and see how powerless they are
4 -
Against potatoes on shelter woods yes
But a good survivor will never make mistakes
Also it is very hard to find a good Blight or Billy out there, especially Billy
All Billys I face just rev the chainsaw at safe loops for an impossible hit
You too are aware how powerless at loops they are since you automatically excluded Huntress

Wait what were the trickster changes being suggested that weren't reducing laceration. Bar baseline ricochet idea and some really dumb mend time delay (because that worked out so well for legion). I woulda went with bringing tricksters speed of attack down with significantly less required laceration hits to down and ricochet but I guess they want to keep his rapid fire playstyle seems like a mistake to me.
2 -
The amount of people underestimating 10 second decay time is unreal.
Trickster has so much counterplay even in the ptb I'm starting to think people are just bad against him.
Sure he might not be fun for you, that's fine. But to say he has no counterplay is just not true. I would've much preferred however him being 115% and 7 knives to lacerate as his main issue right now is that his 110% speed hurts him waaaaay too much.

its not about what killers use stridor. Its about the principle that its simply just bad balancing to buff an already strong perk to nerf just one killer. Iron will is a very popular perk, and has basically neutered stridor permanently, its practically useless now because nearly every game will have at least 1 iron will player. It should be common sense that soft-removing perks from the game is not a healthy way to balance.
2 -
Why are we even assuming the Iron will buff has to do with spirit.
The devs trying to fix the many sound bugs in the game and ended up breaking Iron Will and just call it a feature now seems equally if not more likely to me
1 -
no he's still bad
1 -
They're just mad they can't run around the pallet all day and have to actually adapt.
0 -
The number of knives needed to injure and down went to 6, down from 8. He also got some Main Event buffs, and the laceration decay is quicker.
Trickster can hit at least four knives in a vault animation.
0 -
Hardly a surprise.
They made a lot of characters look worse, got rid of Quentin's unique P3, changed a poor excuse of a killer from annoying to even more annoying, and for some mystical reason beyond our comprehension buffed Iron Will which is a perk that never required a buff to begin with.
This PTB was doomed to failure the moment those ideas were implemented.
EDIT: Oh, and I just realized that Freddy's already useless sound add-ons are even more useless now.
Nice.
2 -
You can hold Main Event for 30 seconds instead of 10. It takes 30 knives to get it now, and it starts much faster.
0 -
My suggested change was to remove it from the game completely and reduce the chapters to 3 per year so they will have more time to develop them and not release these messes that have been the past 5 chapters (except blight?)
0 -
No problem!
People are saying he's the Slinger because it's really not that hard to hit six knives, and the punishment for missing is basically non-existent compared to Slinger and Huntress. I'm holding off my judgement until the Live patch comes out, but if these changes go through Trickster will certainly be a lot more oppressive in chase.

Iron Will has also been affecting footsteps
0 -
So give Iron Will a charge limit like Distortion. Or some limitation other than permanent silence for eternity including no longer needing to breath?
0 -
Generally speaking, perks that counter sound should counter sound.
Sound should not counter anti sound perks.
0 -
Annoying = 'i have to actually try'.
1 -
So you're seriously arguing that only Spirits use stridor?
0 -
Because adding a perk to fix a larger design issue is a bhvr staple. Just cover your ears and hope it goes away.
1 -
They didn’t “buff” Iron Will to counter Stridor. They changed the way Stridor interacts with sounds to be multiplicative instead of additive in order to remove Stridor’s unintended bug with Bite The Bullet & Self Preservation. This means that Iron Will unavoidably counters Stridor from now on, until they change Iron Will, something I’m sure they’ll probably look into.

Money is spent on the character. That's money paid for a good they can get away with alteration but straight up removal with a refund is an incredibly messy affair. They need to at the very least keep his character design and knife throwing messing with the rapid fire would be dodgy but necessary to fix this killer from a design point.

I've never known anyone to run Stridor, Spirits the only killer that benefits form it and I wouldn't even use it on Spirit.
