How can this happen?
So Mr Mushwin spent...money, yes real coin/money on an outfit for the HillBilly yet now its FREE in this new rift? how can the devs justify that? and any "re colouring" no no one can justify a brightener when someone has paid hard earned money for something only for it to be free. #########.

Well you can now have 2 summer Billy’s!

Not the point, if the devs are going to do this well no point in spending money on such.

Which outfits are these? Because if one was to be paid for and the other free, and the only difference being a change in colouring (especially if the original is an expensive one), then yeah that's questionable!

I never checked Billy's outfit... This one is only available with Auric Cells?
One of the Nea's outfit is actually a recolor from an Auric Cells exclusive, so I guess I have my answer... The white top with a backpack and a skate.

Uh it was a hillbilly summer one, long like beard, a horse leg as a weapon, floral like shirt, he bought it not that long ago, before the rift etc and with money but now it comes in the rift for free? it's not acceptable esp he has just then recently paid as bug fixes made ps5 more playable due to flickering, 30 pound on two consmetics to very much support BHVR and the game.

I'm not saying it's okay, but for a long time now the shop has received two or three versions of a single outfit with one or two being available with Iridescent Shards and the last being Auric Cells only. So, this isn't out of the ordinary for them, and since its first iteration a lot of the Rift has been made up of recolors of shop outfits.
We are all learning that spending money on this game is ill-advised., whether it's because of console performance, because they change our favorite faces/cosmetics after we've bought them, because things go on sale within days (this past Halloween), or because they release free recolors.

Hey I mean its not like other people who loved a skin then got its entire look changed when they updated the model.

It was with Auric cells only

All of BHVR's skins are pretty pricy and yeah it is an epic it costs like 12 euro

This was Auric cells only, so he couldn't of got it with shards, if he knew he would never of paid money for such, this recolouring stuff has only happened when the rift began it seems laziness and i am not sure i am willing to spend money now, i bought the new elodie outfit but how do i know it isn't now going to be recycled and re coloured in a new rift.

Yes it is Auric Cells only. Anyone who paid 1080 AC for what they beleived was an exclusive will be rather annoyed that now everyone gets it for free.
2 -
It's not on though, we are spending money, not just me etc but others and some may of been saving a while to gain a certain outfit only for it to be then re coloured and free. Yes they do sales but thi is daylight robbery.

Disgusting. Devs should be pretty ashamed.
1 -
Yeah recolors in the rift that barely change are stupid.

i thought your name was friendly blanket lol i now have that in my head....and yes ten pound hard earned money only for it to be re coloured a little and free...not sure i can now put my money forth in the game and i like my clothes...

Any cosmetics I buy end up free in the rift. I've just bought Cop Cheryl and Claire so I won't pretend to be suprised when they are in the next free track.
1 -
I just bought elodies new one, now i am regretting it due to this
1 -
I've just compared them and .. ummm ... yeah.
Other than the weapon, they are just complete reshades, and that mallet weapon in the rift could arguably be considered a better looking weapon than a slab of meat with spikes in them.
If the recolour was of something in the green or yellow cosmetics, and they wefen't Auric only then there could be a fair argument made, but if the one Mushwin bought was an Auric only ...
... and this confirms it. Well, yeah this is quite a cheap move BHVR. I empathise fully with Mushwin here.
1 -
i do too...he did buy it and not long ago! if we knew this he wouldn't of, its not on, esp if just say someone who has been saving up and up for something as i am sure peeps do, and then its a slap in the face its not right

I just meant that like Spirit has a school girl outfit, and when it was released it had two Iridescent Shard versions and an Auric Cells only version. I didn't mean that there was a recolor available for Hillbilly, just that BHVR loves doing recolors and has loved recolors ever since the shop opened. Then, the Rift came around and they do even more recolors.
Huntress's Grim Matsuri outfit, which was Auric Cells only, got a Rift recolor a while back. Doing Rift recolors of Auric Cell only outfits isn't new for BHVR; I guess it just hadn't been noticed by everyone yet.
i am not sure i am willing to spend money now, i bought the new elodie outfit but how do i know it isn't now going to be recycled and re coloured in a new rift.
You must've started responding before my edit went through, but yeah, I edited my previous post to end with:
"We are all learning that spending money on this game is ill-advised., whether it's because of console performance, because they change our favorite faces/cosmetics after we've bought them, because things go on sale within days (this past Halloween), or because they release free recolors."
So, yeah, we've both basically said the same thing. I'd laugh but it's only funny in a sad kind of way.

I will certainly think twice now before paying for AC only cosmetics. Not only is effectively a waste of whatever 1080AC is in your local currency, it also means you no longer have an exclusive cosmetic. If I see Santa Clown, I know that person has paid for that with real money, they probably only have a single paid cosmetic for clown. As soon as slightly different shade of red Santa Clown is released, all Santa Clown players can no longer show off their exclusive.
Please BHVR, when you give Santa Clown away for free, please make it green or blue!
(I haven't checked that Santa Clown is AC only, but I think it is)

Not that it may help, but I've put this issue into Feedback for BHVR to look into, because I'm rather bemused at the fact I can now get a free version with a better weapon on an outfit people such as yourself need to pay for out of Auric Cells.
I'm not sure how well they'll look into it, but I agree this feels grossly unfair.

Let us hope they do as this is not right, and some of us, or new players will not know of this so called re touch or colour, esp not everyone plays the rift, and some maybe saving up a while for a certain thing, we dont all participate in things so some of us may not know about certain things. It's like a trapper outfit Mr Mushwin got, now with a re touch, ge thanks devs i wished to pay a lot to be then a little brighter in my face. -.-

For comparison, one on the left is free. One on the right costs 11 Euros/Pounds. Could you tell the difference when he is sprinting after you at 9.2 metres per second?

Against expectations, Santa Clown is actually available for Iridescent Shards. I have the weapon but not the rest of the outfit; the letter opener is just my fav, for some reason.
Yeah, I've bought very few cosmetics with actual currency, in part because I'm on console and I started putting as little money into the game as possible once I realized optimization is probably never coming.

I doubt the devs had the rift in mind when designing cosmetics 2+ years ago. That being said, when I see a recolor is going to be in the rift, I don't buy the one in the shop. Just makes more sense to get the free one then the $10-11 one.

Not so much as to discern whether it was bought or not, no. The weapon is the only giveaway, and even then in the trial I wouldn't be thinking about it. I'd just see it come up for free on the rift and assume that.
Also, fairness aside, it seems like a strange move for a company to release an outfit originally paid for solely out or Auric Cells to then give away a slightly retextured one for free! It doesn't make any financial sense, and whoever was in charge of deciding how to price outfits has done a poor job.
It's like, I do really appreciate the opportunity to buy or spend shards on cosmetics from the rifts, but when it comes to that, price any outfits on the free track as iridescent shards and Auric Cells, and price outfits on the paid track as Auric only, so not as to belittle pirchases made by people spending money on it.
I've not done a single paid track for the rift, so I'm benefitting effectively by buying cosmetics that had to be paid by Auric Cells with Shards, and even though it's in my favour I don't understand the fairness in it. I'd rather those who pay for paid track cosmetics be valued as such.

If they are going to recolour a cosmetic that is AC only, the least they could do is make it VERY different from the original. They could have make his beard black, made his shirt yellow. The only way to tell them apart is by putting them side-by-side.
0 -
sorry but we are not mind readers, how do we know the cosmetic bought with money is THEN going to be in the rift as then a straight up free? so....no they did not have the rift in mind that long ago but they know what has been created and should not be re colouring already made cosmetics

the weapon is a recolor too of some event weapon
0 -
Oh, that I didn't know! Which set does it belong to?

Just came over to share in my disappointment and frustrations about this move.
Its ######### up.

It's a re-color of the Pro-Pain Hammer from the Scorching Summer BBQ event.
2 -
I can understand that people dont like it, but they did it many times in the past. Sometimes it feels like half of the rifts are recoloring of shop skins. So why is anyone surprised?

Thank you!

I think it's more people now wishing to voice the fustration, especially when you have paid money, perhaps it hadn't happened yet to someone or wasn't noticed and then it's like, wait a minute I paid for this skin.
