hi! I’m using a SSD on my Pro and it fixed the Performance issues that occurred after the resident evil chapter.

Now you don’t need a SSD anymore since DBD got a performance update this Tuesday.

Which unfortunately fixed the old issues only partly and introduced new ones with the iffy scratch marks now.

I've had a good experience since replacing my old hdd on a PS4 slim. I can't believe they put 5,400 rpm drives in these. Obviously, developers need to be aware of that and they're just 'optimized' for faster storage/memory usage/swapping. I bet no one on PC has a 5,400 rpm drive any more. I would be that the 'bible' on consoles is something where you're not writing to the drives much and I'd bet that for this game, they're just using the same writing and caching that PCs use.

    Anyway, 4$ a pound.

I spent about $190 on an SDD and followed some instructions online. One screw and some downloading later, I had a 100% better DbD experience. That was just after the actual RE patch. I've only played a few games since the update yesterday but they seemed fine. I get about 55 ping on all games.

Getting an external SSD for my PS4 Pro fixed the issues. I got one weeks ago, and the newest 5.1.0 update did not make performance worse for me. It's an expensive purchase just to fix this one game, though.

(I also play the Warhammer game Necromunda, and in the very first mission there was this one part where it had a lot of freezes/frame drops due to I guess the number of enemies that spawn. The SSD totally fixed that. It wasn't a game-breaking issue that I would've purchased a new drive just to fix, but it's a nice bonus and makes me feel a little better about purchasing a goddamn SSD just to fix [BAD WORD]ing DbD.)

One of the first things I did on a pro was replace hdd with one of those $150-200 add still got lag horribly when resident evil first came out and since last update not as much lag but I think this applies to everyone
