What am I doing wrong?

I play killer a lot I prefer it but as soon as I start to get to higher ranks I keep having the same thing happen. I start a chase, end it quickly, but despite that 2 to 3 gens pop. I am running all meta perks like hex ruin (when the stupid blood web gives it to me) I end chases quickly, I slug when needed, I apply pressure but I STILL get gen rushed and they escape. what am I doing wrong?!

A video of some of your matches would help.

play a meta killer: Nurse, Spirit, Blight, Hag, Oni, etc. Also don’t rely on gen regression perks too much, they don’t pay off as well with daytime/afternoon survivors as much as they do with evening/night time potatoes.

Strategize your prey. I know it doesn’t sound fun, but if you’re really getting gen rushed and can’t do anything about it, find the weakest link of them all and get rid of them ASAP.

Play survivor for a bit, maybe you need a little break and/or a point of view of how survivors are playing during the time you play killer, so you can plan more accordingly.

Lastly, as recommended by the big dawg CEO himself, play Civilization. (this ones a joke btw) :)

From my opinion, not necessarily what you're doing wrong, but to what end are you chasing? Chasing keeps one survivor busy. What are you doing early game to stop them working gens? Mid-game? Late game? These are the questions to ask yourself.

Of course, if you get that first person hooked, you've presumably got at least two survivors busy. One on hook and one working on unhooking. What are you doing to get those other two survivors involved and busy?

Early game: Are you running any perks to assist with slow down? Corrupt Intervention is a good one. Or you could run the new Lethal Pursuer which lets you start chasing and finding survivors quickly.

To me, it's about what you're doing to slow gens and find survivors. I don't think you can just rely on running around and happening on them although patrolling generators can help. What's your build? At the very least, you can just 'searchlight' as many gens as possible so that you're looking at them from 30 or so meters away so anyone with Spine Chill will break and move out.

You don't have to SEE the generator. Listen for the sound of 1) a survivor working on a generator and B) the sound of a generator started and abandoned.

There are a bunch of good perks to find survivors. Spies from the Shadows is good if you're attuned to crows, Nurse's Calling has been a good one for me because survivors hide a LOT and think they are safe healing.

Anyway, some maybe useless or pedantic tips. If those make sense and you've been trying them, I'm sure others will be along with more.

You’re not downing fast enough. You need your first down or at least multiple hits on Survivors within the first 30-40 seconds of the match.

Let's be honest the first 2 gens popping means little, many killers sees that as pretty much the first free ones.

Hex Ruin and Undying isn't always the best choice based on the killer you are playing. Not every killer can utilize this combo.

Consider the map and gen locations of where you take chases, hook and slug.

In the end much of it comes down to small choices. As many stated before for real feedback more information is required.

Also, sometimes you will be simply outplayed.

I have a youtube channel if that will help but I'm not good at splitting my attention between the stream and the game

I'll tell you what you're doing wrong: Expecting this game to be fair in any way. Once you hit green ranks more than half of your matches will be SWFs and/or metaperk squads all running Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike, and whatever else they feel like throwing on their busted Survivor builds. High rank play is so severely skewed in favor of survivor that the most fun way to play this game as Killer is to play three rounds and quit for a month.

Moris? Nerfed. Hex: Ruin? Castrated. Pallets? Buffed. Widely and heavily abused Survivor perks? Practically untouched. Thinking about leveling a Killer once you've hit green ranks? Don't bother.

In order to have a fair chance against a competent team, you must run Corrupt Intervention, Pop Goes The Weasel, Hex: Ruin, and Hex: Undying.

I'd say don't focus too hard on a survivor, keep a mental note of how long you're chasing a survivor, if it feels like you're about to reach a minute, then just dip. Find someone else.

Also, don't always go for hooks, if you down a survivor and you feel as someone is near by, just leave them on the ground and try to down them. Chances are someone will get the other person up, BUT that's three people not doing gens

This isn't true. You can easily 4k legacy teams with Nurse, Hag, Spirit, and Oni if you're good enough. You don't even need meta perks.

Something that can help is pick your 3 gen early but don't be overly obvious thats what you're doing. Spend the game clearing that area of pallets in chases and identify the weaker links in the group and often by the time they realize they've 3 genned themselves its too late.

Also neglected to mention, if possible, hook the survivors deep in your 3 gen because they'll likely drop pallets trying to get to the other side of the map after going for the unhook or on the way there and it just makes your late game even better.

Legacy is overated. I've only faced one SWF that I couldn't handle that featured a legacy player. But no, you're not beating strong teams without gen defence. However, you are right about needing a top tier killer.

From my Survivor point of view about Ruin: if you let me finish my generator, I won't care about Ruin. I care about it if you constantly "disturbs" me while I repair. I could decide to finally go checking the totems, wasting time looking for the right one—especially if you have Undying as well.

Ruin won't do anything if you don't get Survivors off of generators.

I can't help much, but for Ruin, you have to pressure the generators to get a great value out of it. Unless a Survivor spawns right next to it and cleanses it early game. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you wait out the 12 seconds BT when tunneling off the hook? Do you put survivors in basement so they can eat your chainsaw on the way up the stairs? Are you forgetting NOED and Bitter Murmur in your build? I mean survivors can't just do gens and get out unless you make mistakes 😀

End Game Collapse - exists. DS - destroyed. Medkits, syringes, styptics - nerfed. Toolboxes and add ons- nerfed. Object of Obsession - Destroyed. Small Game - nerfed. Freddy - buffed. Bubba - buffed. Wraith - buffed. Trapper - buffed. Trickster - buffed. Ruin - huge buff against solo queue.

Poor killer mains. All this game does is give free wins to survivors.

It takes a real fool to think DS was destroyed when it gives survivors the mentality to do the one thing they should NEVER, EVER be encouraged to do: Approach the Killer on purpose. You have a whole arsenal of metagame at your disposal as any survivor at any time and convince yourself you don't. Even the net code is set to favor you now and it's still not good enough.

    What killers are you using?
