Killer Idea: The Ripper

Yes, based on the infamous Jack the Ripper. Could be classified as an original killer because I don’t think anyone has the license of a serial killer suspect.

Aesthetics:
The killer’s actual identity remains a mystery and that should play into how they look. Maybe a long drapey cloak or coat and a hat, the features are always covered in a shadow or just hard to discern. The killer could be so heavily covered that even the gender is ambiguous. The weapon could be a dagger, maybe an ornate letter opener that looks slightly damaged from use.

Power: Fog Walker
Passive:
Instead of a terror radius, The Ripper is surrounded by a dense fog that rolls in silently, approximately the size of the Huntress’ lullaby. Survivors that are within it have limited visibility that gets worse the closer The Ripper is. The fog would be just over the height of the Ripper (so a survivor can’t just spot their hat) but not affect its visibility as much (like Freddy’s shouldn’t). There would still be an intense heart beat when The Ripper is close. When in a chase, the fog’s visibility lessens but is still much heavier than the normal fog.

Active: Shadow Step
While chasing a survivor, The Ripper builds anticipation to the kill. During chases, the Ripper builds power like The Shape builds it while stalking. The Ripper can store up to 2 charges at any time. While The Ripper has a charge stored, it can activate it to go invisible for 2 seconds and get a 30% speed/vault boost. While invisible, The Ripper cannot attack but it makes an attack at the end of the duration. Missing this attack causes as greater attack cooldown like The Nurse after missing a blink attack.

Possible addon effects:
-Increases the maximum number of chargesof Shadow Step The Ripper can have
-Increases the speed boost of Shadow Step but decreases the duration
-Survivors who have been within The Ripper’s fog for at 10 seconds lose their aura reading ability until they leave it.
-Removes the speedboost of Shadow Step and limits the number of charges to 1 but instantly knocks down a survivor if hit with the automatic strike.
-Survivors hit by the automatic attack of Shadow Step do not get the automatic speedboost.
-Increases the charge rate of Shadow Step

Perks:

A ) Illusory Gains:
Spawns 0/1/2 fake chests on the map that do not contain items and disappear once fully searched. Receive a notification when a survivor begins searching any chest.

B ) Hex Totem: Hungering Shadows
Survivors do not receive a visual notification (still hear the scream) when another survivor is hooked. Also, survivors will not see the aura of a hooked survivor unless they are within 32/24/16 meters of the hooked survivor.

C ) You Cannot Stop Me
Once every 75/60/45 seconds you can pass through a dropped pallet or avoid being stunned and continue through a pallet as it is being dropped. (On the game end, when this activates it causes the killer to ignore the pallet’s collision until the killer exits the collision radius. That way the killer won’t be stuck in the pallet).

Not bad ideas, but this game already has the ripper.

I have to admit, you made me smile.
    The idea is great though.

    Edited for slightly better wording/formatting.

What I really like about this killer is that s/he could be a normal stealth killer while also still using stealth in a chase. One can use Shadow Step to sneak up on survivors, play mind-games during a chase, or just to close the last bit of distance needed to get a hit in.

My biggest concern is the passive fog cloud around them and that would probably need the most balancing. How much fog thickness/loss of vision is too much? Would survivors be able to notice the changes in fog density to determine the exact location of The Ripper? Maybe instead of increasing the fog density the closer to the killer one is, the fog density is a uniform thickness (like how Freddy’s song doesn’t get louder/quieter with proximity) and The Ripper is just harder to see in it until they’re in a chase.
