Seems logical. AFK until the match is over then find something that makes you laugh and gets you in a better mood.

Going AFK is better than DCing. Take the XP and the small amount of Bloodpoints, avoid the penalty.
Sometimes survivors will disconnect when they realize I'm not going to interact with them anymore. That always brightens my mood.

If you are that frustrated - just afk and go watch a youtube video or two that make ya less frustrated.

if u dont really want to play the game either give survivors points go to a corner face a wall then go to yt or something.

Do that and just put on music

Yeah. BHVR doesn't give you a good choice here. You can keep playing which isn't fun for you. You can d/c which is bannable and also.had a penalty, or you can ask which is also banable but not as likely as being reported or banned for d/c.

Take a deep breath and go watch something funny to distract you.

I afk. Often I'll calm down after a minute and then continue playing.

Your time is wasted either way. If the match will take longer than eating a 5 minute penalty, then DC and wait it out. If theres only like 2 minutes of the match left, just AFK so the least of your time is wasted.

Sadly both get you banned.
Dance monkey dance! The survivors must be entertained and feel like they did something amazing running around a low wall loop 2 times.

probably best to take a break from the game if it tilts you so much that you feel that way.

Niether both are unsportsmanlike behaviour and should not be advocated on the forums.
That said I've stopped participating a few times when its a game with really obnoxious players that I'm just not interested in gaming with.
In those circumstances I wander around and break stuff, pallets, walls etc, just endlessly kick gens and spam my power milking all the blood points I can out of a bum match.
If you do get a good chase and a hook I just hang out at the hook, let them come to me and we'll do some hook exchanges. Its not malicious its just pragmatic. Just know in your head that this ones a write off and you are gonna milk a few points then open the exit gate and call it.
There is never any reason to get angry at the game because in the end its just that, a game. None of it matters, they could decide to pull the plug and turn off the server tomorrow and none of it would matter. Any real achievement is subjective and imagined.
If you are finding the play experience lackluster or its getting on your nerves then its time to stop and do something else.
Today was a run of bad games, not losses, just really obnoxious immersion breaking play followed by mountains of post game chat abuse no matter what the outcome was. This doesn't upset me but I'd rather not play with folks whom are no fun to play with. So I killed the bots in the tutorial for a few matches for a laugh and to get my DBD fix and called it a day.
I hope they implement custom mode bots soon so I can enjoy DBD even when its not a great online experience.

Neither. You shouldn't play dbd for a few days and then come back fresh and less frustrated.

Going afk and watch some youtube.
Despite what some people say here going afk isn't bannable unless in excessive amounts. Especially if you played at the start
If you get frustrated so often that afking results in a ban then you shouldn't be playing it in the first place

Honestly on the rare occasion where I get tilted to the point of genuinely wanting to quit I'll just dc and take a break from the game for a few hours or something.

Gotta play through the pain, so neither. I can understand there are stressful times as each side (killer being more common) but being able to get use to these frustrations will help you enjoy the game more in the long run, you cant take this game personal considering all the issues and unbalanced areas in the game so if you can get past those and still find some enjoyment you're winning already even if you're losing the game

Going AFK multiple times is against the rules, just like disconnecting is - you are ruining the game for other people. AFK once or twice, that goes, sure, because emergencies can happen. If you dog suddenly fell down the stairs and doesn't get up anymore, you clearly are gonna prioritize your dog more than the game.
However, if you were to AFK now every (most) game(s) where you get frustrated and you keep getting reported for that, it can result in a temporary ban for not playing the game. The game can be frustrating for everyone, I've experienced it too, pretty sure we all do, but game rules are still in place to be considered.
If you have any frustrations or whatsoever you'd like to give as Feedback about the game, you can do here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/suggestions
Please also know that the other option that was in your title is also against the game rules.
