Genuine question: Why do the reworked maps have WORSE totem spawns than their previous counterparts?
It feels like as both Survivor and Killer, I find hex totems and totems in general more out in the open than normal on reworked maps.
Granted they're not as bad as the spawns in old Disturbed Ward, but it's still pretty bad on maps like McMillan & Coldwind.
What's more, it's the fact that as a survivor, you can spawn RIGHT NEXT to hex totems. The amount of times this has happened to me as a Solo Survivor when I spawn in is actually kinda stupid. Checking the most obvious spots will usually net me a hex totem or two.
I'm not asking anyone to think on whether or not hex totems are powerful so they should be a risk, or that this is just how the game is. But if totems and hex totems are meant to be made into a second objective for the survivors, and something else that is secondary for the killer to defend. Why is it that there are way more obvious spots for the totems than more obscure and hidden but still findable spots?
Just today, I was playing Demo while levelling him up to P3-50 and on THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN A ROW my hex totem spawned right next to the survivor. And I know they spawned right next to them because I was also bringing corrupt so I know they spawned nearby.
It's actually baffling how dumb some of these totem spawns are. They should never spawn within viewing distance of a survivor. I just want to make it feel like bringing a Hex (especially Hex's that you need to build up like Devour and Lullaby) doesn't completely deny you your build within the first minute of the game.
I don't mind if their spots are somewhat obvious, that's what you get if you memorize all the totem locations on the maps. That's what I do too. I just wish it wasn't so obvious that within a minute of the game starting, I hear two explosions in the distance and there was nothing I could do about it as Killer.
Even as a Survivor, I genuinely feel awful doing this because I know how horrible this feels when I play Killer. But I want to win. I'm not calling out anyone with this thread, I'm just asking why the totem spawns on reworked maps give me worse results than on maps like Swamp or even Haddonfield. It's genuinely frustrating to build everything around a hex and you don't even get to be able to make it work for the majority of your matches.

Probably to shake up the killer meta without touching noed

If that's the reason, then there is absolutely no reason to use hex perks anymore. Of course you'll still have people using Ruin/Undying since that is just objectively the best slowdown in the game. But what about the other hex perks that might get some usage?
Perks like Devour and Lullaby literally are worthless until you get some stacks, and if they get found quickly before you could even defend them, then what's the point of bringing them into a match?
Not to mention if you bring NOED, it's not going to really be a focus until that exposed status effect appears on the survivor's screen at the end of the game. And as someone with way too many solo survivor experience, I can tell you that even in Rank 1 no one does totems unless you yourself does.

Especially love the one on Autohaven that is directly in the center of the hill. Literally just out in the open, and basically begging people to cleanse the hex.
To sum it up in a movie quote, "The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!"

Oh that is even worse on Coldwind. Where they don't even try to hide it on the hills. They have ROCKS behind the totems to show you that it's glowing even when it's glowing outside. Like come on....

Not to mention certain loops being made easier or harder like the chapel window and the nerfed harvester
